Why deceive me??
52. You don't know her?

The waitress looked at Ronnie with disapproval. "Welcome again too, ma'am," She didn't sound welcoming at all.

"We would like to have these, please," She said, pointing at a particular section of the menu.

"Ok," The waitress said, took the menu, and left the table, straight face.

"Looks like you and that waitress have one thing in common. Beefing at each other. Aren't you gonna apologize?" Damon questioned. "What should I do? I didn't do anything wrong. I just gave her my order," Ronnie defended herself.

"You've not met her?"Damon asked.

Ronnie shook her head. "I'm sure I would remember if I did,"

"Oh, I just thought you knew her," Damon said and sipped his drink which was placed on the table previously while looking at Ronnie.

Daniel, who was still settling into his new environment, missed Ronnie so much. He decided to give her a call since she hasn't been calling him for some time now. He picked up his phone and dialed her number. Ronnie was helping herself to the dishes in front of her.

"Hey, take it easy. People would stare," Damon said, teasingly.

Ronnie smiled shyly. "Sorry, I couldn't help it,"

Just then, her phone rang. she looked at the caller and smiled. She ignored the call and continued with her food. It rang the second time and when Damon saw she was not gonna pick up her phone, he snapped. "Why aren't you picking up?" He asked.

"It's not urgent. I'll call another time," She replied, not looking at his face.

"Pick it up," He demanded.

Ronnie sighed and picked up the phone.

"Ronnie," Daniel called.

"Daniel," Ronnie said, gently.

"How are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm doing fine. How about you?" She asked

"I'm fine too," He said

"What's up," she asked

"Nothing. You've not been calling me and I decided to try your number one more time," He explained.

"Oh, I've been busy. I'm sorry," She said.

"I understand," He replied

"Don't worry. I'll come to see you one of these days," she said and she could hear Damon growl.

Daniel sighed.

"What?" Ronnie asked.

"Nothing much. I've left the state," He said.

"Oh," Ronnie said, downcast.

"No problem," She said.

"I'll miss having you around," He said

"Yeah, me too. It was nice having someone to talk to, you know," She said, looking at Damon's expression.

"Yeah. I know how that feels," Daniel said and smiled.

"Ok, Daniel. I'll have to call you back. I'm in the middle of an important meal," She replied

Daniel hung up and Ronnie cleared her throat.

"Who was that?" Damon asked.

"My friend," Ronnie replied.

"What type of friend," He asked

"A friend type of friend," Ronnie replied and smiled. "You don't have to worry. He's just a family friend,"

"Family friend? And you talked to that length?" he asked

"Yeah, we were just discussing one or two," Ronnie cleared and Damon shrugged.

Sara parked her car in the mansion's driveway and went into the house. Mrs. Ayra was sitting down in the sitting room, watching a Netflix series when she barged into the house. "Hey, Sara dear. What happened? Why are you back so early and alone?" Mrs. Ayra asked.

"Mother, you wouldn't believe what I saw today," Sara began

"Do tell me, dear," Mrs. Ayra said

"Let me start with this. I met your son and that godforsaken wretch kissing in his office," Sara began

"Oh, kissing," Mrs. Ayra said again

"Yeah, and do you know what he said when he saw me?" Sara asked

"What?" Mrs. Ayra inquired

"He asked what I was doing in his office and told me to get out," Sara said

"He did that?" Mrs. Ayra said, shocked.

"Yea he did. And when I refused, he called in his bodyguards to drag me out," She said

"He did what? Didn't you tell him I sent you?" Mrs. Ayra asked

"I did mother. He was blinded by that slut that he ignored me," She whined.

"Wow. What has that witch done to his senses," Mrs. Ayra asked

"Only God knows. I just don't know how to face anyone. I was humiliated," she added.

Mrs. Ayra was quiet for a moment. She sighed and waved toward Sara.

"Come here, come sit with me," she called and Sara sat down on the couch with her

"You know what you're gonna do to get his attention?" Mrs. Ayra asked

"What do I do mother," Sara asked, curiosity washing over her.

"I heard there's a vacant post of a secretary available in his company. I think you should apply for the job," Mrs. Ayra suggested

"Wow, mum, you're a genius," Sara beamed happily.

Mrs. Ayra smiled proudly. "I'm always the one with the brains, am I not?" She asked.

Sara nodded in approval. "Of course, you are," She exclaimed.

Just at that moment, Damon and Ronnie entered the house.

"Speak of the devil and she appears," Sara said, rolling her eyes at the sight of Ronnie.

Ronnie sighed and walked close to Damon.

"Son, can I have a word?" Mrs. Ayra asked.

Damon stopped in his tracks. "Go on, I'm listening,"

Ronnie stopped with Damon and stuck by him. Mrs. Ayra rolled her eyes at Ronnie.

"Hey, you slut. I said son, not his said to be slut." She remarked.

Damon frowned. "Mum, if you want me to listen to you and let you stay here, don't refer to my fiancee as such ever again," Damon warned his mother.

Mrs. Ayra was shocked. She couldn't believe her son would stand up for someone he barely knows.

"Damon, do you realize you're talking to your mother? Did you just talk back at me? And in front of these two little girls?" Mrs. Ayra asked.

"You know I don't care how you feel so drop the act. We both know how our relationship turned this sour," Damon said to her.

Sara was enjoying the show and she paid good attention to them. Ronnie held Damon's hand. Once she got his attention, she used her eyes to give him a signal to stop talking. He immediately got the hint and turned to his mother. "No need to cry over spilled milk. And if your reason for asking me to talk is about why I chased Sara out of my company, then you should better ask her to learn how to behave," Damon said and turned to leave.

"Mother, did you hear what he just said?" Sara whined.

"Damon, you're hurting the poor girl's feelings," Mrs. Ayra said.

"Then I'd better do a better job at that. She's a nuisance," He said and left the room with Ronnie by his side.

Mrs. Ayra glanced at Sara and Sara shrugged.

"Don't you worry, I'll deal with her my way," Mrs. Ayra said.
