Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? -
Chapter 815
The door to the hospital room swung open, and Edwin Morris entered. Sherilyn and Rebecca White had seen him before; they were acquainted with him, but what brought him here now? "Huh?"
They weren't the only ones puzzled; Edwin Morris seemed equally surprised as he looked around the room. "Isn't Mr. Francis here?" he inquired.
Sherilyn shook her head, explaining, "He was here earlier, but he just left."
"He left?"
Edwin Morris's confusion persisted as he turned towards Sherilyn. "Ms. Gomez, it's good to see you again so soon..." His gaze then shifted to Rebecca White. "Ms. White, it's a pleasure to meet you again, I'm Edwin Morris." "Pleased to meet you, Mr. Morris," Rebecca White replied with a polite nod.
"Since Mr. Francis isn't here, I suppose I'll get straight to the point," Edwin Morris said. "I've been sent by Mr. Francis. He mentioned that you might need my help with your divorce case, Ms. White." "Mr. Francis isn't around, so shall we discuss this directly?"
Sherilyn glanced at Rebecca White, thinking about how quickly her brother had acted. Rebecca White had just had her bandages removed today, and he had already arranged for Edwin Morris to assist.
It was evident that he was eager for Rebecca White to move on from her troubled marriage. Enlisting Edwin Morris for the task was a significant move.
Both Sherilyn and Edwin Morris turned their attention to Rebecca White, waiting for her response.
"Mr. Morris."
When Rebecca White finally spoke, she declined. "Thank you for coming all this way, but I'll handle the divorce on my own."
"Rebecca?" Sherilyn was taken aback.
"Ms. White?"
Edwin Morris frowned in confusion. "Are you worried about the fees? It's true, hiring me for a divorce case might seem excessive..." Mr. Morris was quite candid.
"However, Mr. Francis has vouched for you, and as for the fees, he plans to cover them, so you don't need to worry."
The more he spoke, the more resolute Rebecca White became in her refusal. "Mr. Morris, I truly appreciate it, but it's really not necessary." "This is...?"
Edwin Morris was taken aback, not expecting a refusal. He didn't press further If Ms. White insists, then I'l take my leave. Perhaps you could discuss it further with Mr. Francis?"

"Thank you for your time, take care."
"No worries."
"Rebecca!"
Once Edwin Morris had left, Sherilyn immediately turned to Rebecca White, her concern evident. "Why decline? Edwin Morris is the best lawyer in Sunhaven!" "I know."
Rebecca White nodded, sighing, "A lawyer of his caliber is out of my league."
"I already owe Mr. Francis a lot of money. I need to start working hard to pay him back; saving wherever I can helps."
"Is it about saving money?" Sherilyn was astonished. "He isn't rushing you to pay him back."
From her perspective, her brother didn't seem to expect any repayment at all.
"That's his choice."
Rebecca White had made up her mind. "I need to settle my debts as soon as possible. I still don't understand why he's been so kind to me; it feels... off. Paying him back sooner will give me peace of mind."
With the conversation heading in this direction, Sherilyn found it hard to argue further, though she remained concerned about Rebecca's divorce.
"Don't worry."
Rebecca White smiled reassuringly. "Eddy and I have been separated for as many years as we've been married. Even without his infidelity or abuse, this divorce won't be hard to get."
Being separated for over two years
meant the marriage was already beyond repair, with no marital duties or relationship to speak of. The only reason she hadn't pursued a divorce earlier was the hope she once harbored for him.
"That makes sense."
Sherilyn nodded, helping Rebecca White gather her things.
"Looks like I'm imposing on you again."
Rebecca White had already given up her lease at Emerald Estates, meaning she'd be staying with Sherilyn for the time being.
