When We Meet Again
Chapter 55

Melvin had been trying his best to get Charlotte back but all his effort had been futile. Not only did she block his line so he could not get in touch with her, but she also blocked him on all of her social media handles. Charlotte wasn't ready to speak to him, let alone get back with him and Melvin on the other hand did not want to stoop so low into trying to call her with a different phone number; he has his pride to protect.

He had thought that letting her be for some time would help her heal. He wanted to let time heal her pain.

He would give her some time to heal up. He had thought.

So he did not attempt to call her or try to contact her despite his mother and sister being against it. Even when Mia offered to help him call her so he could speak to her, he rejected her offer.

"I just want to give her some time," he, had told them. "I think that is what she needs now."

Mia insisted that he tried harder to win her over or he might lose her forever.

"This is the time you can get her back, don't you think?"

"I do not think I have to get her back now. I just need to let her heal up. I..."

"Melvin, I know Charlotte more than you do. I know that right now, she might not want to talk to you and act like she doesn't care but she does care. You just need to get to know her and prove to her that you have made a mistake and are willing to correct them."

"Do you have any suggestions on how I will do all you have said?" Melvin asked.

"I just told you what to do and you want me to give you a suggestion?" Melvin nodded. "Well, I have none," Mia, replied to him.. "You pushed her away, you should get her back, your way."

Melvin's mother could tell that he wasn't ready to take Charlotte back despite claiming that he was now in love with her too. She decided to threaten him; maybe that would make him hasten up and bring her back.

"Until you get her back, our mother and son relationship will remain on the edge. You do not visit me unless I ask you to and I won't visit you either," she had told him but she got no reply from him.

Melvin was certain that he would get her back in a few days so at first, he was okay with his mother's threat. He had had some things planned out. He just needs to give her a few days until her anger dies down and he will try to get her back. But all his thoughts and plans were not accomplished; he was unable to get close to Charlotte let alone get her back; it was as if she disappeared into thin air.

He resulted in getting help from Mia but she was not willing to help.

"I have tried my best for you, Melvin," Mia said. "I created lots of opportunities but you never made use of any of them. You were certain things will go your way. You have to keep doing things your way. Until we can see your result." Melvin began to think of who would be of help to him. He needed Charlotte more than ever now because Mia and his mother were not the only ones asking after her. The board of directors wants her back as well as some of their clients. One of the clients who would not stop asking after Charlotte was Mr. Joel, the one Charlotte had worked with on the real estate projects. Through Charlotte, he has become one of their top clients, Melvin cannot afford to lose.

The heads of the other departments wanted Charlotte back too. They had worked with her during the real estate project and they had loved how she works. Melvin thought of a way to get Charlotte back but none of the ways he had tried had worked out. No one was willing to help too; not any of his friends. David and Ryan had nothing to help with; they knew little or nothing about Charlotte. And Matthew who would have been of help, isn't willing.

"I won't help you," Matthew had insisted. "You should try your best."

"But we both know that I have tried my best," Melvin told him too.

"Your best isn't enough, man. When it is, and you still have no results. You can come back to me for help. I will gladly help you but right now?" He shook his head. "I can't." "But I am here now. Why can't you just help..."

"I am not willing to help yet," Matthew insisted. "Just do as I say."

Melvin knew that there was no way he would be able to change Melvin's mind and he might have to do what he said first and come back for help when he failed again.

**

Melvin stared at the phone in his hand, his eyes widened in shock.

Did a woman just end the call on him? He thought.

No woman had done that to him before; except Charlotte of course and that was cause he was wrong.

Who is this woman? He wondered.

"Samuel!" He called and Samuel his secretary rushed in.

"Sir, you called me."

"I want you to find out everything I need to know about the woman on the other side of the phone."

Samuel furrowed his brows. "Which woman are you talking about?"

"Are you now daft?!" Melvin yelled at him. "You do not know the woman you connected me with?"

"You mean the CEO of Lotus Fashion House?" Melvin frowned. "I am sorry, sir. I know the woman you are talking about."

"I do not care if you know her or not. I need to know who she is and who is backing her up to make her act this rudely to others. You must get me every information about her." Melvin was certain this must be the way she speaks to all her clients.

"Yes, boss," Samuel answered.

"I need you to do that before today ends."

"But I have some work in my hand already. I need to..."

"Are you going against my order now? Do you also see me as someone who doesn't deserve to be respected, right?"

Samuel shook his head. "I do not think so, sir."

"Then you will do as I say."

Samuel sighed. "I will sir."

"You can go back to your work post."

Samuel left and Melvin opened his laptop to read more about the Lotus Fashion House. His manager had only shown him, their work and he loved it. He never had the time to read their resume or investigate who they were but the CEO's rude attitude towards him, he needed to know everything about them.

He checked through his laptop and realized their resume was not there. "Samuel!" He called again and he rushed in. "Call me the manager."

Samuel furrowed his brows. Why would his boss ask him to call the manager when he could do that himself; he has always done that. "But sir, you always call him..."

"You do not have to call him. Just go to his office and let him come with you.."

Samuel sighed. "Yes, boss."

He left his boss' office and headed to the manager's office. Samuel had a lot to think about; he could not stop wondering what could be wrong with his boss. He had been acting strangely these few days. He has been getting angry over minor things; it is so unlike him. He has been absent-minded and blamed people, every chance he gets.

Samuel got to the manager's office only to find out that the manager had been out of the office for a while now. He was sent by the president to attend a meeting. Samuel groaned, heading back.

Melvin had just realized that the manager was representing him in a meeting and would not be on the seat; he sighed.

Why did he not remember that? He wondered. He has always been conscious of everything around him; he remembers every detail no matter how little it is.

He knew the thought of Charlotte was the reason he had turned out like this and he needed to find a solution to it.

But how will he get the perfect solution?

Samuel walked in. "The manager is..."

"I know," Melvin answered. "You can go back to your post."

Samuel left and Melvin picked his phone up to speak to his friends. He placed a conference call with them.

"Guys, I need help. Let's meet up at my place."

Melvin ended the call without letting any one of them air their opinion; he was certain that Matthew and Ryan would not waste time to tease him.

**

In Melvin's room sat the four friends, staring at themselves.

"How many times are we going to help you?" Ryan whined. "Why do you always get into trouble?"

"I am so sorry," Melvin said.

"We've been helping you since the year began. Do you not think we deserve some boys' trips?" Ryan said and Matthew nodded in agreement.

"You should sponsor our travel to a very nice island."

Melvin smiled. "I will do that. If you will help me."

"What do you need help for?" David asked.

"Charlotte," Melvin said and Ryan groaned.

"You were right after all, Matthew." Matthew smiled. "I told you."
