When We Meet Again
Chapter 35

It was Melvin's last night in Paris, so he decided to spend it with Charlotte. He wanted the three days he had spent with Charlotte to be memorable for her. Since it was almost night, Melvin thought of the best thing they could do together.

After much thought, he decided that watching a movie would be the best.

He researched the movie theaters in Paris and chose the one he thinks is the best. He was about to buy movie tickets when he realized he didn't know the kind of movie she might be interested in. Melvin headed back to the Hotel to ask Charlotte about it and met her sleeping. He squatted, brushing to the side, the hair that had covered her face.

Has she been this beautiful and he was the one who did not notice? He wondered.

He slowly moved his fingers to her lips; the lips he could not stop thinking about. Charlotte only moved slightly but did not open her eyes. She was so comfortable sleeping that she did not notice someone touching her, or maybe she did but had thought it was a dream cause she smiled.

Her smile was captivating, Melvin could not help but smile too. He had seen her smile a few times with a few people mostly at work, but none had captivated his heart like this; just watching her sleep and smile melted his heart. Has he fallen in love with her like his friends have been saying? He wondered. Does his heart beating so fast now mean that he has feelings for her? What is the cause of the sudden care he has been showing her?

Her birthday was supposed to be the reason he was treating her nicely but that ended over two days ago, yet he could not stop caring about her and wanting to make her happy. He has also given her enough surprises to appreciate her for helping him and the company.

So why can't he stop treating her nicely? He sighed. He can't fall in love with her. Even if he has, he must keep whatever feeling he thinks he has hidden. She is nothing to him but a contracted wife who will leave as soon as his girlfriend returns. Melvin wondered if Alexia would ever come. It's been two years already and she hasn't made up her mind to return and marry him. He is beginning to wonder if Alexia still loves him. He had thought that with the identity of Charlotte as his wife being exposed, she would rush back to get back what belonged to her. She hasn't even called him let alone returned home to him.

Charlotte would have made a perfect wife if they were in love with each other and there wasn't any other woman involved. He thought.

He would have loved to treat her as his real wife but doesn't want to give her hope that doesn't exist. He doesn't want to make her feel love and in the end, gets heartbroken when his girlfriend returns. She had been heartbroken once when she got rejected by him for professing her love for him.

He stood up and headed to the bathroom to take his bath. He had decided not to wake her up. He will wait until she wakes up. He was done in a few minutes and got dressed in a casual shirt and trousers. Charlotte was still asleep so he decided to stay in the living room and worked on a few documents on his laptop.

Charlotte opened her eyes slowly, stretching herself slightly. She sat up and stared at Melvin's bed.

Is he not back yet? She wondered. Or is he in the living room?

She stood up from the bed and headed to use the bathroom. When she got back, Melvin was in the room, to drop his laptop.

"You are finally awake." He said and she nodded. "I was wondering if you would want to watch a movie with me."

Charlotte furrowed her brows. "A movie?"

He nodded. "Yes. At the theater though." Charlotte was surprised Melvin wanted to watch a movie with her. "I am leaving tomorrow. This will be our last night together so I thought we might watch a movie." Charlotte sighed. "Fine,"

"I wanted to buy movie tickets but I do not know what genre you like."

"Horror," Charlotte mumbled.

"What did you say?"

"I do not have a genre of interest. Anyone you choose will be fine."

"Then I will get the tickets. I will be in the living room. You can take your bath and get ready."

Melvin picked up his phone and headed to the living room to book the tickets while Charlotte headed to the bathroom to take her bath. She got dressed in black leather trousers and a turtleneck white shirt. She packed her hair into a messy bun, got a simple makeup done, wore her black boots, wore her coat, and was ready to leave. She picked her bag up and joined Melvin in the living room.

Melvin turned. "You are ready?"

Charlotte nodded. "I am. Did you get the tickets?"

Melvin nodded. "I did." He stood up. "I will go get dressed." Melvin went into the room and returned a few minutes later already dressed. "We can leave now." They left the suite together. Melvin led Charlotte to the car and opened the door for her.

"Thank you," Charlotte mumbled.

After she entered the car, Melvin walked to the driver's seat.

"Are you ready?" He asked and Charlotte nodded.

"I am."

Melvin drove them to the movie theater he had bought the tickets from.

"Do you want some popcorn?" Melvin asked and Charlotte nodded.

"Yes, and a milkshake, please. I want strawberry flavor."

Melvin got everything Charlotte wanted. He also got a drink for himself and they entered the theater. Melvin led Charlotte to the front seats and they sat down. The movie started a few minutes later. It was a romance movie.

Charlotte wondered why Melvin had chosen a romantic movie instead of a movie from other genres. She wasn't interested in the movie like she was interested in the reason he had brought her to watch a romantic movie. She stared at Melvin who seemed engrossed in the movie.

Does he like romantic movies? She wondered. Or the movie is so interesting; that it has taken his attention completely.

Charlotte decided to focus on the movie too; maybe she would get engrossed in it too. She picked a few flakes of popcorn and shoved them into her mouth. Melvin who had focused on the screen when he noticed she was about to stare at him, turned to look at her once more. Charlotte had a smile on.

She must love the movie. He thought.

He put his hand into the bowl of popcorn at the same time when Charlotte placed hers into it. Their hands met and Charlotte turned quickly.

"I am so sorry," she mumbled pulling her hand away.

Melvin nodded but said nothing. For the rest of the movie, they both felt awkward towards each other. The movie ended and they had to return home. Their drive back to the Hotel was quiet too. They got to the suite and they both retired to bed after doing their night routine.

**

Melvin was ready to leave, with his bags packed and kept in the living room. His flight was scheduled for nine, giving him an hour and a half to do whatever he wanted to do. He decides to spend an hour with Charlotte before he leaves. When he suggested that they play a few games together, Charlotte wanted to ask why but she decided against it.

This was the only time she got to stay with him. By the time she returns home, everything will have returned to normal.

"I will order some food," she said and Melvin nodded.

They began to play their games after their food was delivered and they had eaten. They lost track of time until Charlotte's phone began to ring. She had set an alarm to help them keep track of time; she didn't want him to be late for his flight. "It's time to leave," Charlotte said.

"I guess it is." Melvin stood up. "Take this," He handed over a black card to her.

"What am I supposed to do with this?" Charlotte asked.

"You can't stay here without having enough money to spend. I already paid for the rest of the days you will be spending in the suite. I also got a tour guide for you. She would show you around. I paid for a few places you can visit too. Make sure you have fun, okay?"

Charlotte nodded. "I will. Thank you. You should get ready to leave."

Melvin nodded. "Can I?" He asked, stretching his hands for a hug.

Charlotte nodded. He pulled her into a hug which lasted for a few seconds. When he pulled away from her, he could not help but touch her face, his eyes fixed on her lips.

"I am going to miss you," he mumbled but Charlotte could hear him. She only smiled. Melvin kept staring at her lips and in the end, when he could no longer withhold himself, he had to kiss her. Charlotte stared at him in shock. He smiled. "See you at home,"

Charlotte was short of words. She wasn't sure of what to say to him; his words and reaction were surprising; she only nodded.
