When We Meet Again

Charlotte had been thinking about Melvin's attitude towards her when she asked to know what his plans were and also his reply when she tried to give him suggestions. She could not stop wondering why he had decided to keep the plan he had away from her. Charlotte would have appreciated him if he had told her just a little about his plan. She wasn't asking that he tell her everything; she only wanted to have an idea of it. She was also angry that he asked her to keep her suggestions to herself after making use of her suggestions a week ago.

What does he take her for? She wondered. And who does he think he is to treat her the way he wants without respect?

Charlotte wondered how long he would keep treating her like she meant nothing to him. She knew she meant nothing to him, but she just wanted him to treat her better. She wasn't even asking that he fall in love with her; she knew that might never happen.

Is that too much to ask? But of course, it wasn't.

Charlotte had always seen how he treated other ladies. How he showered them with love and care. He was always showering them with compliments but when it comes to her, he is always indifferent; he doesn't care.

Though Charlotte was used to his ill-treatment, she still felt unfair about it. He doesn't have to care about her to show her respect. His recent nice attitude towards her in the last few days had made her think that he was going to treat her better now but they were all lies.

He must have treated her nicely because he desperately needed her help. And now that he doesn't need her help anymore he has decided to go back to treating her badly. Those were Charlotte's thoughts and they hurt her.

Charlotte realized that she also had to go back to treating him like she did before or she might end up getting hurt by his attitude. She decided that she would stay away from him like she had been doing before. And whatever plan he had in mind, she wouldn't get involved in it; she wouldn't ask him about it either.

Charlotte kept to her promise; she went back to being the nonchalant wife who cared about nothing but work. it was easy for her since she had a lot of work to do in the company which had kept her busy. Melvin on the other hand did not attempt to talk to her either; they hardly got to meet.

Seeing them go to work in different cars and returning in different cars has caused nothing but uproar on social media platforms and online spectators are beginning to have more interest in their relationship.

There had been stories about them not having a good relationship and Melvin's scandal with the uprising actress is proof. While some support that they love to keep their work and marriage life separate, others insist that their marriage wasn't working. Some also claimed that they might be divorcing soon.

Charlotte wasn't that bothered about the situation. She was already used to hearing things like that; not on social media though. She was more bothered about going to Melvin's office to submit some documents. She wasn't ready to meet with him yet; she didn't want him to talk about his plans or ask for her help with their news already taking over social media for the second time.

Charlotte stared at the documents in front of her. She doesn't want to go to Melvin's office by herself; Bella had gone to an official meeting instead of her. She also doesn't trust anyone to send the documents; Melvin has always intimidated them. Charlotte thought about what to do. She was still on this thought when Mia walked in.

"Charlotte. I mean boss." Mia called walking closer to her.

Charlotte's eyes brightened up. Mia is the perfect person she can send. Not only can Melvin not intimidate her, but Mia is also aware of what the documents are for; she would be able to explain to Melvin perfectly.

"Thank goodness you are here, Mia"

"Do you need me to do something for you?"

Charlotte nodded. "Yes. I have been thinking of who to send with these documents. How was school by the way."

Mia dropped her bag on the table. "You want to send them to my brother right?"

Charlotte nodded. "Yes. He just needs to sign them. He might ask you a few questions though. You do not have to worry. They are projects you know about. You will know what you say." Mia nodded but said nothing. Charlotte handed the documents to her. "You haven't answered my question yet." Mia furrowed her brows. "I asked how school was, today."

Mia chuckled. "School was fun. I have a lot to tell you. Where is Bella? I haven't seen her around."

"She went for a meeting."

"That is so nice. I miss her though. I hope she gets back soon."

"She should be on her way back already. We have a meeting in twenty minutes. Just in case you see her on your way to your brother's office. Tell her to meet me in the conference hall." Mia nodded, standing up. "I should take these to my brother."

"Thank you, Mia," Charlotte mumbled.

Mia turned to leave but stopped. "Are you really, going to keep ignoring each other?"

Charlotte furrowed her brows. Though she knew who Mia was referring to, she pretended not to.

"Who are you talking about?"

"You know I am talking about Melvin," Mia answered. "There are rumors about you both in the company. Especially about your relationship."

Charlotte smiled. "Mia, those rumors are not new ones. They have always existed. You will get used to it soon. You are bothered because you are new."

Mia shook her head. "What about the ones said on social media platforms? Am I not supposed to be bothered about them too?"

"Mia, you don't have to be bothered about stuff like that. They are just for some time. Everyone will forget about them soon."

Mia sat down. "I know but I hope things will get better between you two during this period. I am afraid that an opportunity like this may not surface in a long time. Why don't you make use of this time and..." "Mia, get the documents to him. When you get back we can talk about this."

"I know you are just trying to send me away. Do you not have a meeting in twenty minutes?"

"You mean fifteen?" Charlotte said.

Mia stared at the wall clock. "Yes, fifteen. I am sure you have another meeting after that. I might not even see you before you leave. We both know how busy you have been these few days." Mia said.

Charlotte sighed. "Mia, you do know we are not supposed to be talking about this in the office, right?" Mia nodded. "How about we meet up on Saturday? I know you have a lot to talk to me about. I also have a lot to talk to you about too." Mia sighed. "Fine. I will take the documents to him. You have to keep your promise and meet with me on Saturday."

Charlotte nodded. "I will."

Mia left the office and Charlotte sighed. She could tell that Mia wants them together but that will not be possible. She hoped that Mia would stop trying to get them together; Melvin didn't want it. He is so adamant. She is also aware that her days her numbered and she would not want to give herself false hope.

She stood up and picked up a document from the table. She headed to the General Manager's office; she needed him to go through the document before she went ahead with the project. When she was done, she went to the conference hall for her next meeting.

After work, Melvin met with his friends to plan out the surprise for Charlotte. As usual, they started up with a heated argument about whether Melvin had fallen in love with Charlotte or not. While Ryan and Matthew insisted that he was acting that way because he was now in love with her, Melvin insisted that he wasn't in love with her and he had nothing in mind for doing this. David only watched them argue with themselves; he wasn't the type to talk much.

"I am certain you have fallen in love with her." Ryan insisted.

"What will happen to Alexia? Isn't she going to return? How will she feel if she finds out?" Matthew asked.

"I am not in love with Charlotte, can't you guys understand? And of course, Alexia would return," Melvin replied.

"Are you even sure about that? It's been two years already." Matthew said.

Melvin sighed. "It doesn't matter."

"I guess it does not," Matthew mumbled.

"What are you going to do about the news on social media?" David asked, changing the topic.

"I haven't thought about what to do," Melvin answered.

"How about we use this surprise stuff to change the media's thoughts about your marriage?" Ryan asked.

"What do you mean?" Matthew asked.

"We create a surprise that will not only surprise Charlotte but also change what the people think. This is like killing two birds with a stone right?"

Melvin smiled. "Do you have an idea? I am sure you do."

Ryan nodded with a smile.

"Then I guess we can start planning the surprise now," David said and they nodded.
