Orion's fingers, defined and elegant, made even the simplest actions look mesmerizing.

"What are you staring at?"

He placed the silverware in front of her, and Lemira turned her head, meeting his gaze, "Can't I admire someone as handsome as you?" Orion squinted, "Is that a roundabout way of insulting me?"

"Of course not, you're quite the looker."

"Am I your type?"

Upon hearing those words, Lemira's grip loosened, and the fork clattered to the floor. She bent down in a fluster to pick it up, her mind racing. Did he notice something? Or was it intentional?

Lemira retrieved the silverware, but he took it from her hands, placing his own set in front of her.

He then grabbed a fresh pair and heated them over a small flame.

She didn't respond to his question, and he didn't press further, as if he never asked.

Orion glanced at her, noticing she was preoccupied with her phone.

He had to admit, his question was deliberate.

She had been getting too close to Matthew.

Just as Orion was about to break the silence, the waitress came in with their order.

Seeing the food in front of her, Lemira's appetite surged. She eagerly started eating, her focus entirely on the meal.

Orion watched her for a moment, not saying anything. He noticed the dishes were exactly to his taste.

The two ate in silence.

After finishing her meal, Lemira felt much better, her spirits lifted.

Only then did she notice Orion had finished his meal too. He was watching her, his gaze calm and open.

Lemira felt a bit embarrassed, "Why are you looking at me?"

She reached for a napkin to wipe her mouth, though there was nothing there.

Orion rested his hand on the table, "Feeling better?"

"Yeah, much better."

"I can answer that question you asked Matthew."

Her heart skipped a beat as she looked

He never intended for Matthew to drop out!

Lemira was stunned. Matthew's mother? That would be the affluent Mrs. Amanda?

But that seemed off. Maybe she was wrong.

"Disappointed?"

Orion noticed the look of disappointment on Lemira's face.

She shook her head, "No, it's getting late. We should head out."

Orion stood up, his gaze lingering on her, "Is winning the competition that important to you?"

"Even if I wanted to win, I wouldn't resort to such tactics."

Orion believed her, but her question was still odd.

He didn't probe further.

Reaching the bar, Orion quickly paid the bill with a scan of his phone.

Lemira was a step behind, "Didn't we agree that I was treating?"

"Yeah, you treat, I pay."

Orion didn't see anything wrong with that arrangement.

The owner smiled, "It's only right for your boyfriend to pay. You two make a lovely couple."

Orion, busy with the transaction, didn't bother to correct her.

Lemira was about to say something when a familiar voice called her name, "Lemira, is that you?" Evelina walked in, eyeing them both.

She sounded smug, "A date at this dive? That's pretty low-end. My boyfriend Dorian is taking me to Bistrova, you know. That's where the elite dine. You need a million dollars just to become a member.

Lemira blinked. Bistrova?

That sounded familiar.

She glanced at Orion, wondering what he'd make of Evelina's boast.
