Chapter 0973

Sawyer froze on the spot. It took him a while to return to his senses. However, Miranda was already gone.

Miranda had a smooth negotiation with Harvey, as she had no objections to the price. Harvey was impressed by her straightforwardness and decided to finalize their partnership immediately. He instructed his assistant to print the contract on the spot.

Soon, both parties signed the agreement.

Miranda got up and extended her hand. “I look forward to working together with you.”

Harvey replied, “Me too.”

As soon as she left, Sawyer arrived. “Where’s Miranda?”

“Mr. Jensen, are you talking about Ms. Sutton?” Harvey asked.

“Yes, where is she? Did she come to sign the contract with you? Find an excuse to stall her, and don’t sign it yet. Keep her here for a few more days…”

Harvey started sweating bullets. “But Mr. Jensen, we have already signed the contract…”

Sawyer was at a loss for words.

Useless! Absolutely useless!

Once he got back, he would definitely suggest to his father to cancel all company–funded entertainment. There wouldn’t be any eating out at restaurants or going to karaoke. Even if the king himself came, they would have to eat at the cafeteria!

Miranda must have been upset because he went out to socialize. She must have thought that he led a depraved life, and that was why she deliberately claimed to have a boyfriend in order to push him away.

It was all Harvey’s fault!

As for Harvey, he was puzzled as to what had set Sawyer off.

Miranda brought a bag of fruit with her to the workshop where Finley worked.

“Mr. Nilsen, someone’s looking for you!” his assistant called.

“Oh, I’m coming!”

Finley stepped out and saw Miranda. “Huh? Ms. Sutton?”

“Mr. Nilsen, I’ve settled the matter. I’m going to head back to Elgerson this afternoon. Thank

you for your help these past two days, and I’ve gotten you some fruit,” Miranda said.

“Oh, you didn’t have to. You’re too kind!” Finley took the bag. It felt quite heavy in his hands. Inside were several peaches, avocados, apples, oranges, and pears.

Finley’s heart felt warm. He had casually mentioned back in the lab that his wife loved avocados but hated peaches, while his daughter loved peaches. The two often argued about this.

At the time, Miranda had asked what he liked to eat.

Without thinking much about it, Finley replied that he ate almost anything. Apples, pears, or oranges were all fine. He never expected her to remember his offhand remark.

“Thanks, Miranda.”

“I should be the one thanking you.

They exchanged contact numbers and bid each other farewell.

Miranda took a cab back to the hotel, packed her luggage, and checked out. Before heading to the airport, she had a quick lunch at the hotel restaurant.

In the waiting lounge, Miranda heard a voice above her head just after sending her flight details to Paul. “Miranda!”

She looked up and saw Sawyer smiling at her. “You move so fast. I almost couldn’t catch up to you, but fortunately…”

He made it in time.

Miranda’s reaction to his presence was indifferent. She merely gave a slight nod as a greeting. Then, she opened her laptop and began working.

Sawyer sat in the empty seat next to her and started explaining why he had come back late two nights ago.

Miranda stopped what she was doing and turned to look at him. “Mr. Jensen, did I not make myself clear enough?”

Sawyer froze for two seconds. “Miranda, I know you’re still angry. This trip was for business, but not only did I fail to help, I got caught up with socializing and upset you. That’s my fault, and I’m very sorry.

“However, I don’t believe you when you say you have a boyfriend. I asked Mrs. Garrison last time at the Garrison estate, and she said that you’re still single.”

Miranda laughed. She felt that it was pointless to explain further. Someone who was stuck in their own mindset and absorbed in what they wanted to believe would not listen to reason.

She said, “You’ll see for yourself in a while.”

Sawyer was confused.

What was there to see? Seeing her boyfriend?

He sighed. It seemed that Miranda was still angry. She was even using this tactic to upset him.

Fine, he would take it… After all, he was the one who made a mistake first.
