Clement quickly altered the prescription, printed it out, and handed it to Miranda.
“Thanks, Dr. Hugh,” she said politely.
He waved it off. “No need to thank me. You’re such a sweet young lady. Beautiful, polite, and well–mannered. You’re a delight to be around.”
Fiona beamed with pride at his words. “Of course! My granddaughter is excellent in every way.

Clement’s eyes lit up with an idea. He chuckled and said, “A young lady as lovely as her must have plenty of admirers, right? Does she have a boyfriend?”
“No, not yet. Ordinary boys are no match for our Miranda.”
“Yes, yes. Ordinary ones won’t do. But my grandson is a fine young man, really—
“No, don’t even think about it,” Fiona interrupted him. “Miranda doesn’t lack suitors, and I’d like to keep her with us for a few more years.”
Sensing that the conversation was heading in a questionable direction, Miranda quickly made her escape with the prescription. She’d better go and get the medication…
Unexpectedly, she bumped into someone just as she backed out the door. Miranda turned and apologized hastily, “I’m sorry, sorry…”
However, she froze when she saw the person’s face clearly. “Mr. Jensen?”
“Miranda, we meet again! It must be fate!” Sawyer laughed.
“You…” Miranda caught sight of the lunch box in his hand and assumed he was there to visit a patient. “This is the outpatient building. The inpatient ward is in the opposite building.”
Sawyer realized that she misunderstood and explained, “I’m not here to visit a patient. I came to bring lunch to my grandfather. He’s a doctor here and has a full day of outpatient appointments today.
“My mom was worried that he wouldn’t have a proper meal, so she cooked him lunch and asked me to deliver it.”
Miranda glanced at the consultation room behind her, a suspicion forming in her mind. “Is your grandfather Dr. Hugh?”
“Yes, Dr. Clement Hugh. How did you know?”
Miranda was taken aback. She said, “I’m here to accompany my grandma for her follow–up with him…”
“Oh, I see!”

Sawyer noticed the prescription in her hand and asked, “Are you going to get the medicine now?”
“Yes. I’m going to get the medicine, then I’ll queue up for the decoction service.”
“Do you know where the pharmacy is?”
Miranda hesitated before replying, “It shouldn’t be too hard to find. There are signs everywhere.”
“Tell you what. Wait for me a moment. I’ll bring this food to my grandfather, then I’ll take you to the smaller pharmacy. They don’t–close at noon, and you won’t have to queue for the decoction service,” Sawyer suggested.
“Wouldn’t that be too much trouble? You can tell me the rough location, and I’ll go look for it myself.”
“It’s no trouble at all, not one bit! Just wait a second. I’ll be right back!” With that, he pushed the door open and went inside.
He was back out in less than ten seconds. He probably just set the lunch box down and said a quick hello before leaving.
“Come on, I’ll take you there. It’s lunchtime, so there won’t be many people around. You’ll get your medicine quickly.”
“Okay, thank you.”
The two went down to the first floor of the outpatient building.
Sawyer kept glancing at her as they walked, as if afraid she might wander off. “Miranda, this way…”
At that moment, another voice rang out from behind them, “Miranda.”
Surprised, Miranda turned around. “Dr. Jefferson?”
Sawyer also looked over, and his gaze met Paul’s coincidentally. When their eyes locked, one was filled with curiosity and probing, while the other was icy and sharp. Paul’s eyes seemed to exude a frosty chill.
Sawyer was puzzled. He had seen this man before. He was present during his last visit to the Garrison family when he had to deliver an invitation.
Later, he found out from others that the man was a member of the Jefferson family.
But, why was he looking at him with such hostility?
Sawyer furrowed his brow, trying to recall if he had ever offended him.
And yet, he had not.
