Chapter 0611
Jack was at a loss for words
“Mr. Cooper, you can let go of me now,” Miranda said.
Sam smirked, as if he had only just realized he was hugging her. Instead of releasing Miranda, his hand settled from a light touch to being firmly placed on her shoulder.
Her figure was slender and delicate. At first contact, Sam could feel her bones even through her winter jacket. The faint fragrance from her body drifted into his nose, making his body stiffen at that moment.
The next second, Miranda whipped around and slipped away from his grasp. However, Sam reacted swiftly. Seeing that she escaped from his grip, Sam extended his arm and tried to pull her back.
She ran away, while Sam followed. She dodged, yet Sam pursued her.
Miranda grew frustrated. “Sam Cooper! I’ve had enough of this!”
The hint of a smile twinkled in his eyes. “Nice, you’ve finally stopped calling me Mr. Cooper.”
She was speechless at his audacity.
Just as the two of them were squabbling. Paul was standing under a streetlamp nearby with a bag in hi
hand.
Due to the lighting, half of his face was shrouded in the shadows. At that moment, his expression was
hard to read.
Miranda’s sharp eyes spotted Paul first. “Dr. Jefferson?”
Paul, who was standing still earlier, walked toward her slowly. His gaze landed subtly on the men’s scarf around her neck. Jack was still wearing his own, so it wasn’t his.
Then, Paul looked at Sam. He was wearing a coat over a suit, but there was no scarf.
Jack greeted Paul with a smile, “Dr. Jefferson, what a coincidence to run into you here!”
“It isn’t a coincidence. I came here on purpose.”
“Huh?”
Pulling out the scarf from the bag, he walked up to Miranda and removed the men’s scarf from her neck. After handing it to Sam, he carefully wrapped Miranda up in her own scarf.
Paul explained, “I ran into your two friends at the entrance of Dunham College earlier. They were about to deliver you your scarf. Since I was headed this way, I offered to bring it for you so they wouldn’t have to delay their supper.”
“Thank you, Dr. Jefferson! Sorry for making you come all the way here.” Miranda tucked her chin into her scarf, feeling warm instantly. Her own scarf was the coziest.
“You’re welcome. It’s no trouble at all.”
Sam held on to the returned scarf for a moment before revealing a slight smile. He slowly wrapped it back around his neck and remarked casually, “Dr. Jefferson, was there any necessity for you to go out of

your way for the sake of such a trivial matter as delivering a scarf?”
“I told you I was heading this way,” Paul repeated.
He then turned to Miranda and said, “I’m going home. Shall we walk together?”
“Sure! Jack, I’ll be heading off now!” Miranda said.
“Oh, alright. Take care on the way,” Jack replied.
Miranda and Paul left together.
“Dr. Jefferson, what brought you to Dunham College?”
“I need to meet Dr. Fischer for some matters.”
“This late at night?”
“Dr. Fischer is a night owl.”
“Is that so?”
Their voices faded into the night as they walked further into the distance.
Sam stood rooted to the spot with a darkened expression, looking in the direction they had left.
Jack stared blankly for a moment before regaining his senses. “Miranda and Dr. Jefferson are heading home together? What’s going on?”
Sam smirked. ‘Is your reaction always this slow?”
“One day, you won’t even realize when your cousin is taken away by another man. Pay more attention, would you?”
With that, Sam strode off firmly, his scarf fluttering in the cold wind. His actions exuded coldness and determination.
Puzzled, Jack called after him, “No, wait! Explain what you mean! What do you mean by my cousin being taken away? I’m not paying attention? I think you’re the one who’s trying to steal her away instead…”
All three men…
Jack couldn’t stifle a chuckle and thought, “Miranda is truly amazing!”
