Welcome Home Mate
Chapter 97

LEX

The afternoon was a hit.

I sat next to Roxie as we gazed at everything in front of us. The food was out of this world and the music too. Every song that was played was something that made this event more special.

The ultimate fight drew closer as time passed, and I started to feel anxious. Well, more Roxie than me; her anxiety left me feeling everything through the mate bond.

I placed my hand on her shoulder and pulled her closer to me.

"You okay?" I asked as I leaned into her.

Roxie nodded but didn't say anything.

"Mate, nervous," muttered Blaze.

I knew that.

Blaze had been quiet all through this but only spoke when Roxie appeared. He drooled as he watched. I honestly thought he was going to shift and hump her leg when he saw her.

"I would have, but humping may not be what I would do to her," he sneered. "I want her, her scent strong, and that dress looks perfect on her."

I couldn't agree more; she looked like an angel walking toward me. My c**k came to life as I watched her; she was something.

I was about to open my mouth when my father stood up and clicked his knife on his glass to get everyone's attention.

All talking stopped, and the music was cut off.

My father smiled and looked toward us.

"Now, as you all know, Luna Roxie wanted to do something special for you all," he said, looking toward everyone. "It is my greatest pleasure to announce that we are holding an ultimate fight here this evening, and the first match will be our Luna herself." I turned to look at Roxie, who stared at my father.

I knew she was worried about who she was fighting against, and I must admit, so was I.

"Now, Luna Roxie will be taking her to leave to get ready to fight shortly," he said and looked at her, "as for your opponent, I knew you wanted to know, but I was told to keep it a secret as I asked for Alpha Gareth who I should go against you." This wasn't good.

"So, I will announce that Luna Roxie will be fighting against Tammy Harsh," he said.

A few growls erupted around the grounds.

Roxie tensed before I could even react to the news.

I looked over at her, but her face was blank.

"Bex is talking to her," muttered Blaze. "She is giving her a pep talk or something."

After a few moments, Roxie looked at me and nodded. She leaned in and kissed my cheek but moved toward my ear. "Stay by the ring," she muttered. "Demon will be with her, and he likes to play dirty. I need you to take him out if you see him move." Roxie moved back and stared at me.

I moved toward and kissed her lips but pulled back only mere inches away. "He won't come near you," I murmur as I look at her lips. "I will make sure of it. You concentrate on Tammy; leave Demon to me."

Roxie smiled and kissed my lips again. She moved back and stood up, and her eyes went to mine. "I will get ready," she said.

I nodded.

Roxie turned and left, heading toward the entrance of the building where they were holding the ultimate fight.

Alpha Frank told everyone to head to the building. I got up, and Keith came over to me; his eyes scanned the crowd. "What's up?" I asked as he stood rooted to the spot.

Keith sniffed the air, but a low growl escaped.

"Mate," he whispered, making my eyes wide.

Keith looked around but looked at me.

"I know I promised Roxie I would be by her side, but I need to..." he said, but I shook my head. "I understand," I said. "Find your mate; Roxie will understand too."

Keith nodded and walked away.

I knew this would be a big deal.

I sent a mind link to my father to let him know what was happening, which even surprised him. Keith never bothered finding his mate; he was all about his beta role and ultimate fighter community; he never mentioned whenever he was around that he was looking, so this was a shock, even to my father.

I walked toward the building.

The building was the gym area we used when we were kids. My father had people in to make it more respectable, and we used it. We had many vacant buildings, especially after Alpha Trevor's pack attacked.

I stepped inside and was blown away by it all.

They did a fantastic job.

I walked toward the ringside and waited in the corner. I knew I had to be in as she told me where she would be. I glanced around and noticed everyone we knew was behind me.

Jason and Sofia sat together, which was a lovely sight. Jason told me last night that they had talked a lot over the previous few months. It seems having your a*s kicked a few times by your little sister would affect you. Blaze chuckled.

I was about to turn away when Keith approached with a red-headed woman in his arms.

I walked over and smiled.

"You found her," I said as he looked at me; he gave me a slight nod.

I couldn't help take the woman in, something about her was intriguing, but Blaze was up in my head. "She's a witch," he murmured. "She is one the Elder brought."

The woman looked at me and nodded. "Alpha Lex," she said. "I'm Nora, I know you have worked out who I am, but I am no threat to you. I lost my home a few years back and have been living with the Elder pack since then. Elder Warrick insisted I come, but I didn't expect to find my mate here."

I smiled.

I looked at Keith, who had the biggest grin on his face.

I turned around as everyone behind introduced themselves to Nora.

I stepped toward the ring as an announcer stepped inside.

He looked at me and bowed. "Alpha," he murmured.

I nodded.

He took the microphone from someone and started to call out.

"Your first fight will be Luna Roxie against Tammy Harsh," he shouted. "First to come out is... LUNA ROXIE."

I started toward the curtain where they opened, and my mate, my luna, stood there.

I felt proud as she walked to the ring. Her face was blank, but her eyes met mine, and I felt relief. She was nervous, but something was up. She looked like she was trying to concentrate.

"You okay," I asked through our mind link.

"I'm fine," she muttered. "I feel off."

I stared at her.

"You don't have to..." I started to say, but I was met with a growl. My eyes locked onto hers as I raised my eyebrows at her. "I'm okay," she said. "I need to get through this."

I stared at her for a moment but gave her a slight nod.

Roxie closed the mind link down as she climbed into the ring.

"Blaze," I called out. "Can you tell what's going on with her?"

Blaze moved closer but shrugged.

"Bex told me the same," he muttered. "Something is up, but neither of them tells me anything."

I cleared my throat and tried not to be worried and I didn't want to let Roxie know what I was feeling.

The announcer called out Tammy Harsh. As the curtain was pulled back, she stood there, not on her own; her mate, Demon, was there.

Boos erupted.

No one liked them, that was for sure.

Demon took in everyone, even the alphas, and lunas. He looked like he thought he belonged here.

Why on earth did Alpha Gareth want Tammy and Roxie to fight again?

I glanced toward him. He was sitting with Nathan and another man who only had eyes for Nathan. Nathan looked over at me and nodded.

I nodded slightly, but Nathan stood up and moved to the barrier.

I walked toward him, and he came close.

"Why did your father want Roxie to fight her again?" I asked as he got closer.

Nathan looked over his shoulder and then back at me.

"Demon had my mate captive when he learned about this fight," he murmured. "He wanted Tammy to fight Roxie and let her win so he could take over your pack." I frowned.

"That won't happen," I said.

Nathan smiled.

"Why do you think she is taking her on?" he asked. "Demon is not cleverer or stronger than you; he thinks Tammy will be able to fight Roxie and win. We both know they like to cheat, so I knew you would take care of him."

"So you want me and Roxie to fight your battles," I growled.

Nathan shook his head.

"The man I am next to is one of his men," he said. "I can take him out when Tammy and Demon are captured. We will deal with them, but not only that, why not let Tammy get her a*s kicked by Roxie again. As for Demon, he won't resist trying to take her out, but you will end him before he does. Demon won't be able to fight again after this, making them traitors to everyone in this industry."

I stared at him.

"Fine," I snarled. "Make sure they get the higher treason."

Nathan nodded.

I looked up and noticed the man staring at us. Alpha Gareth glared at him, but his eyes met mine, and he nodded.

"My father knows," Nathan called out.

I looked at him, slightly confused, but it hit me.

I smiled.

I turned around and looked into the ring.

Roxie was staring Tammy down, who seemed to be making some interesting statements about being the next Luna.

I looked at Demon, who was staring back at me.

Blaze growled.

"Let me take him," he muttered.

"No," I said. "Let's see what Roxie can do."

I walked toward the ring and stood in Roxie's corner.

The announcer ushered Demon out, who was glaring at me.

Demon stares as he goes to Tammy's corner.

The announcer called for the bell, and the bell rang out, indicating the fight was starting.

Everyone was up on their feet, chanting.

I watched as Roxie and Tammy circled one another.

Tammy started by grabbing at Roxie, but Roxie flipped Tammy over her arm and made her land on her a*s. Roxie pulled on her arm and twisted it around her back, causing Tammy to roar in pain.

Demon growled.

I watched it.

The announcer tapped Roxie to let go, and Roxie moved back, but Tammy turned around fast, using her werewolf speed, and trapped Roxie into the corner. Tammy punched both sides of Roxie, and all Roxie could do was block each of them.

Tammy stepped back, but Roxie was too quick and kicked her in the stomach, making her land with a thud on the ground. Roxie kicked again, which hit Tammy square in the face, sending her back.

I heard movement and noticed Demon climbing the ring to get in. I used my speed, ran around the ring, and grabbed his leg, pulling him down and onto the ground.

Demon growled, and his eyes changed to his wolf.

Blaze came forward and joined me; we snarled.

I looked over to Huw and motioned him to help.

Huw climbed over and grabbed hold of Demon, but he got out of his grasp and launched at me. I moved fast as he hit the ring post hard, and I gripped him and growled into his face. "Back down," I sneered. "You lose."

Demon glares his teeth as I grip him tighter.

"Trust me, rogue," I said. "You will not make it out of this alive. Now, hope you tell Alpha Gareth and his son where his mate is, or I can make you suffer."

I looked at the ring and noticed that Roxie had Tammy face down in the ring, covered in blood, punching her. I made Demon turn around but ensured I had a firm grip on him. "Or I will make sure your mate won't leave this ring alive," I sneered in his ear. Demon growls.

"Luna Roxie will kill her," I muttered. "She will tear out her heart right now in front of everyone, especially all the alphas and elders, to see how powerful she is."

Demon stilled.

I knew I had him.

Huw was standing next to me and placed silver handcuffs on Demon, making him hiss out in pain.

Huw and I held him in place while watching Roxie completely take Tammy out.

Roxie picked up Tammy and slammed her back down in the middle of the ring, and she drove her foot into Tammy's side. I glanced at Tammy, but her eyes weren't own. "Looks like my mate will win," Demon muttered.

I held onto him as I watched Tammy's eyes change to her wolf, but Roxie knew. I could see Bex come closer, swipe at Tammy's neck with a fist, and drop to the ground.

"NNNNOOOO," roared Demon as his mate spat out blood from her mouth and looked at him.

Bex went back and grabbed Tammy by the hair, pulling her toward her hard and holding her leg too.

Tammy whined as the pain came.

I knew that pain all too well, as Roxie used it on me when we fought. It felt like your stiff leg was being torn apart; there was a technique that Keith showed her, and I have to say, whatever it was, it was effective.

The announcer crouched down, asking Tammy if she gave.

Tammy growled and shook her head.

I watched Roxie hold onto Tammy and pull harder on both limbs, using everything she had.

Tammy whimpered, and her wolf came forward, but she was no match for Roxie.

After a few moments, there was a loud crack, and Tammy cried.

Roxie let go as the announcer called time.

I watched as he lifted Roxie's arm and called her the winner.

The whole building roared into chants and cheers.

I smiled as my eyes met my mate.

She smiled, but she moved her hand from the announcer. She leaned into me and whispered.

I looked at Huw and motioned for another two pack members to come to us. "Huw, take this piece of trash to the cells," I muttered as I watched the announcer hand Roxie, the microphone. "His mate will join him once she gets medical treatment. They will be leaving with Alpha Gareth and Nathan."

Huw nodded as the three men took Demon away. I looked up at Nathan, who had Demon's man on the ground. He looked at me and nodded.

I turned to look at the ring, just in time for my mate to talk.

"I want to thank everyone here," she called out, making everyone stop what they were doing. "I wanted this ultimate fight to show you what I am capable of, and now you know. I will never back down from a fight and won't let anyone hurt my pack. If you have a problem with us, come to us, and we will try to resolve issues of conflict between packs, but I will state this, Alpha Lex and I will do anything for our pack members, and I will not stand for anyone who will tear us apart."

Roxie stared out, taking in every alpha and Elder.

"We will come to any aid of any friend willing to stand with us, not against us," she continued. "I will die protecting this pack and even for my mate. This is one pack no one will defeat."

Everyone stared at Roxie, taking in everything she had said. The fact that Tammy was lying on the floor in severe pain was nothing. They all just witnessed her break her leg and win a fight.

"I won't be fighting in the ultimate fights again; this was my last," she shouted. "I want to be here for my pack, as their Luna."

I couldn't help but feel pride wash over me.

Murmurs from pack members could be heard. I looked around and noticed many were nodding, and many were proud to call her their Luna.

"Now," she said. "I will hand you over to Alpha Frank, so you can all carry on with the fight."

Roxie handed the microphone back to the announcer, who smiled.

All the room erupted again into cheering and clapping at what she said.

I looked toward my father, who wore a proud smile as he headed into the ring.

I looked to where Roxie was, but she wasn't there.

I looked around, trying to figure out where the hell she was.

I opened a mind link to her.

"Where did you go?" I asked.

There was nothing.

I looked at my father, who was staring back at me. He opens a mind link to me. "Get backstage now," he murmured. "Roxie needs you. Don't worry about the rest of the evening. You need to be with Roxie."

I didn't say anything as I turned on my heel as my father spoke to everyone else.

I didn't know what was said, as I used my speed to get backstage. A scent hit my nose as I approached, which had me panting hard.

"MATE IN HEAT," growls Blaze in my head.

I followed Roxie's scent and found her room. As I approach, I turn the corner. I spot two men there, trying to get in.

I growled.

"Get. The. f**k. Away." I grit out.

Both men looked at me, and eyes widened, their hands going up in surrender.

As I get closer, they both run.

I opened the door, only to be jumped on by Roxie as she slammed her mouth onto mine.

Her legs wrap around me, and I carry her inside while I kiss her back hard. Roxie used her strength and pushed all of her weight, making me stumble back into the door. Roxie pinned me to the door.

Her body was on fire.

She was burning up.

Roxie moved away, panting.

"TOO HOT," she moaned and kissed me again.

f**k.

I knew I wanted her in all ways to Sunday, but her heat was one thing that wasn't on the agenda.
