True Love -
(Book 4) – Chapter 161
Cassiopeia threw the folders on her desk, when suddenly a rather husky male voice spoke.
-So you’re going to be the new boss. The girl looked at Lester standing in the doorframe in his grey suit with both hands in his pockets, he was such an egomaniac.
-Yes. And I hope that’s not a problem for you.
-Why? Because you’re a woman? I don’t have a problem with that, the only thing that makes me uneasy is that you’re too young for your father to delegate all his power to you.
-As my father has already told you, I’ll be ready when the time comes. She glares at him.
Lester narrows his eyes, then brings them up to look down at her… that day she had worn a high-cut skirt with a salmon-coloured chiffon blouse.
-We’ll see if you turn out not to be such a girl after all.
The girl frowns, thinking that this guy was a pain in the a*s. Unfortunately he was a shareholder, although she wasn’t sure how much of a shareholder he was, to go to the trouble of going to his office to bother her.
-I have to go now, but you’ll be seeing more of me, Cassiopeia.
As soon as he left, she finally managed to breathe… Lester made her uncomfortable, she didn’t like his presence. So she ran to the filing cabinet looking for the man’s details. As soon as she found it, her eyes widened.
The bastard had a higher stake than the rest of the shareholders… she understood his concern… now more than ever she had to live up to her father’s standards. She couldn’t make a fool of him, he trusted her. The girl returned to her chair, it was the first day and she was beginning to feel a great weight on her shoulders.
On the way home Cassiopeia didn’t say anything to her father, he made it clear that she did very well but she wasn’t sure about that. Especially not with Lester’s sly words. It really ruined her day, she didn’t know him and she already disliked him.
The black haired girl lay her body on the bed closing her eyes, she wanted to do things right… she needed to do it right. She turned her body looking at the ceiling, she ate her lips thinking that she would definitely be the best businesswoman leaving the Lanister name high.
A few days later Cassiopeia was going through a pile of documents she needed to read to soak up more of the company’s business, her father was away. He was needed at Serifos as well, so he left her at the company and went to attend to business over there. Suddenly the office door opens and his father’s secretary enters.
-Miss Lanister, Mr. Lester Corvis has just arrived and requests a meeting with your father.
-My father is not here, you know that. She says nonchalantly.
-I’ve already told him, but he’s asked for a meeting with you.
That guy, she thought…
-Please send him in.
-Yes, miss. Left alone, she adjusts her suit a little when the door opens.
-Do you always dress up to receive the partners? he asks frowningly.
-What can I do for you, Mr. Lester? He asks, folding his hands.
-I have heard that your father is not here, so you will be able to attend to me. Since you’ll soon be the new boss.
-Why do you express yourself so arrogantly? I sense that he’s not comfortable with me being the new head of my grandfather’s business.
-Time will tell. He replies, sitting down in front of her with a half-smirk on his lips. -Are you studying about this company? he asks, looking at the pile of folders. -Shouldn’t you be up to speed by now?
-I hope that when the day comes that I am the boss and owner of everything, you won’t take on these same attributions. Although I’m sure my father won’t like the idea of one of his potential partners harassing his future heiress.
He smiled broadly… his eyes narrowed a little, but he let the piercing colour of his eyes show through a little. She thought that everything he said to her made a mockery of him. How unfortunate that he had to be her father’s potential partner.
-Sometimes you’re like a good leader to me. But other times, you just don’t.
-I’m sorry to disappoint you. But you’re gonna have to get used to it. What are you here for?
-To see how you were doing…
-You didn’t come to see my father? -You didn’t come to see my father?
-I knew your father was in Serifos, I came to see how you were doing here. He stands up, fastening the buttons of his suit. -But I see you haven’t made any progress. He says with disappointment.
-Have you come to annoy me? He asks incredulously.
-Let’s say yes. He smiles. – I’m off! We’ll be seeing each other, Cassiopeia.
She was in a trance… Was he serious? He had only gone to bother her… What was going on with that guy? He was a very strange stalker. She would have to talk to her father about it, this situation could no longer continue, Lester was starting to be a nuisance.
He put those unpleasant thoughts out of his mind, he needed to concentrate on business. That was really all that mattered to him, not what his father’s idiot business partner thought.
[…]At a quiet dinner, Cassiopeia seemed immersed in her thoughts… she wasn’t really paying attention to her father’s words, she didn’t know why this Lester had it in for him. It pissed her off that he was meddling in her business. Why was he doing it? Besides, why the hell hadn’t he mentioned it to his father?
-Casiopea, is everything all right? Antoni asks, staring at her.
-Yes father, everything is fine.
-Since we arrived you haven’t said a word, did something happen in the company that I should know about?
-Nothing at all has happened, father.
-Well, tomorrow I have to go back to Serifos… I’ll be gone for three days… -Do you think you can handle things for that long? If you don’t feel confident, I can…
-I can, father, don’t worry. The young woman confirms.
-Very well!
She looked back down at her plate, stirring her food listlessly… she was counting on that idiot Lester not to show up there these days, wanting to ruin her working days.
In the morning the black-haired girl received a wonderful gift from her father, Antoni had given her a car so that she could drive herself to the office. The father had placed a lot of trust in his daughter. And since the young woman already knew how to drive, he didn’t think twice about giving her a present.
So the young Lanister of the family, with a few folders in her hands, got out of her new car… and two steps away from entering the company building, a familiar voice made her stop.
