True Love
(Book 4) – Chapter 158

Valery was coming out of class, he was very late. The last exam had taken longer than it should have. The girl imagined her husband, who was waiting for her outside. He would be on edge, and in a rage. He didn’t like it when she took so long to get out.

She ran through the corridors of the university, her backpack in tow… she was already 20 years old, married to Peter for two years. Her father wouldn’t allow them to stay together as boyfriend and girlfriend any longer, let alone have s*x. It was too fair, and too overwhelming.

Her wedding was the quickest to arrange… it didn’t bother her at all, she just wanted to be with Peter for as long as possible, and if marrying him was the solution for them to be together then she didn’t think twice about saying (I do).

After the wedding, they returned to the United States. Peter’s job was there, and she wasn’t going to drop out of school just because she got married. They visited her parents frequently in Greece. So things were going well, until that morning when Valery took a home pregnancy test in the university bathroom.

The results made her blanch, the young woman had been sitting on the toilet for a long time. Thinking about how she was going to tell Peter, since they had both agreed that they were not going to have children yet. At least not until she finished her studies. A child was not part of her plans, Peter had been very honest with her. He didn’t want to get into trouble with her father because she interrupted his studies. But it was all done.

As she ran downstairs, she searched for the right words to broach the subject of the baby with her husband. She knew he wouldn’t take it very kindly, he would be very angry. But then again, she wasn’t really to blame either. Something was wrong with the pills.

-By the gods! What a problem. She says in a low voice.

She finally exits the building, catching Peter’s car in the distance. Her heart went kind of frantic as she saw him leaning against the car door. And that typical scowl indicated that he was angry.

The girl walked towards him, when suddenly a hand grabbed her arm and stopped her steps. Valery turns around and fixes her eyes on Emanuel, her classmate.

-Where are you going in such a hurry? asks the young man with a beaming smile.

-Home, what’s the matter? she asks, releasing herself from his grip. -Did I leave something in the classroom?

-No, just… well, me. The boy runs a hand down her neck, looking nervous. -I was wondering if you’d like to go out for a drink with me.

Valery’s eyes widen when he hears his classmate’s proposal, he wasn’t expecting it. Well, actually, he had. She hadn’t told anyone that she was married. She had been studying for two years and had always kept a low profile. But to receive a confession from Emanuel. And with Peter just a few feet away from them.

The girl looked at her husband out of the corner of her eye. He remained unmoved, with his arms crossed and that typical frown on his face.

-Emanuel, you flatter me. But I can’t accept you. I’m sorry!

-Why? I like you very much. The boy insisted, which made her more nervous.

-Because I am married. She says with a kind smile.

-What? he asks incredulously.

-I’ve been married for two years, and my husband is waiting for me. I’m very sorry.

She says goodbye to him, to finally meet her husband… who would probably be like an ogre.

-Hi love, I’m sorry I’m late but I had an exam and…

-Get in the car. He says turning around to get into the car. She closes her eyes and sighs.

-Peter, what’s wrong?

-What’s wrong? -Who the f**k was that guy?

-A classmate. He says looking out the window, he was pissed off.

-Why did he grab your arm like that? What the f**k does he think he’s doing?

-Nothing happened, love.

-What did he say to you? She bit her lips for a moment.

-He asked me out, and I said no. -He did what?

-He did what? -He asked almost shouting.

-Come on love, nothing happened. I told him I’m married, and I’m not single.

-That bastard! he exclaims furiously.

Peter never imagined he’d be so jealous to see an idiot pretending to be his wife. He had a feeling that a stupid thing like that was going to happen, he was 41 years old and his wife was 20. It was obvious that he was going to get a lot of proposals from assholes who had nothing better to do. F*****g kids!

But Valery was already his wife, and he wasn’t going to let any of those young men get in the way of their relationship.

As soon as the couple arrived home, Peter noticed that his wife looked a little strange. She looked kind of worried, he wondered if she was angry at the way he had spoken to her earlier, he didn’t mean to but he was just so pissed off. She walked into the house, going straight into the bedroom…

-Valery. He called out to her but she ignored him. -Love, I’m sorry. She said to him as she walked up the stairs.

He followed her, he couldn’t be calm knowing that she was very angry with him.

-Love, I’m sorry… it’s just that guy got on my nerves, and I didn’t know how to….

-I’m pregnant! The girl blurts out of nowhere with glassy eyes.

Ok. That news was really unexpected, pregnant? But if they had agreed that they wouldn’t try to enlarge the family until she finished school, how come she was pregnant? She was on the pill. Had she stopped taking it to get pregnant? She knew perfectly well what he thought about bringing a baby.

At the same time, a baby? A little piece of Valery being his… he was going to be a father, he couldn’t be angry either. Especially not with the look of fear and fright on her face. God! She was terrified to confess that truth to him. Since when had he become such a controlling and bitter husband?
