True Love
(Book 4) – Chapter 145

-Listen love, I have to go to the office for some pending work. I promise I’ll be back soon.

-You’re leaving? -No because, don’t leave me alone.

-I promise I’ll be back in three hours.

-It’s a promise.

He kissed her on the lips, leaving her wanting more like that. But she knew she had to do her duty, she couldn’t absorb him all the time.

-You’re in good hands. She watched his mother approach and smiled at him, it had been a long time since she had seen her. She was sorry she had left without saying goodbye.

-Hello dear, it’s good to see you again. I hope you don’t run away this time. The woman laughed.

-I won’t. She said with a shy smile. – I’ll stay with your son.

-I’m glad to hear that. Then let’s get down to business.

-Well, I’ll leave you to it. Mum don’t overwhelm her ok

-She’s pregnant, not bedridden. -Son is pregnant, not bedridden.

-Mother!

They both laughed at his face of not liking her comment, but in the end he said goodbye with a k**s on the cheek to his mother and a k**s on the lips to his fiancée.

Antoni was organising some documents that his secretary had left on his desk, he had a lot of work to do. Spending a few days out of the country was taking time away from his beloved fiancée. He had barely been without her for an hour and already he missed her very much. He wanted to work ahead to have time for a small honeymoon, he wanted her to have all the trappings of a traditional wedding.

Gina’s office phone was ringing off the hook, she had a lot of meetings she had postponed because of the trip. But she couldn’t put them off any longer. She would organise them all for the next day. As she was about to leave to inform her secretary, she walked into her office, in nothing more and nothing less than her underwear, oh shit!

-What are you doing Gina?

-Relax a bit, you came in very tense and upset.

-We’re in the office.

-As if we haven’t had a few run-ins in here.

He remembered some of them, she was practically always the one who started coming on to him. And his man’s instincts kicked in. But now everything was different. That was over. He had promised Andromeda that he would have no stress of any kind. Besides, he loved her like a madman, he would never be unfaithful.

-Get dressed, Gina. There’s work to do.

-I’ll take care of that in five minutes, I’ll spend more time on you. She walked towards him, wiggling her waist.

-I’m getting married, I love my girlfriend and she’s expecting my child. Our affair is over. You know well that this was nothing serious, I told you.

-What are you getting married? -Son? What the f**k are you talking about? She said angrily.

-I want you to get dressed and keep your composure from now on.

-You’re breaking up with me?

-We never had anything serious. I won’t be unfaithful to my wife.

-She’s not married yet. -I can be whatever you want me to be.

-I just want you to be my secretary, that’s all.

The woman looked at him with eyes of fire, if she didn’t stop he would be forced to fire her. But on what grounds? She was doing her job well and had no complaints. Telling her father that he would fire her meant telling him what she had done. And that would make him very angry, but if he didn’t do something, it could jeopardise their marriage. The best thing was for him to be honest with Andromeda.

-All right, boss. He turned and walked out of his office.

The woman stormed out, everything she had done in those four months had done nothing to tie this man down. He just blew her off because she happened to have a pregnant girlfriend, she wanted that man for herself. She didn’t want to try the father because of the old man, but the son was something else. She had sworn she had him, now she was just stuck with a boss.

But this one smiled as she dressed, there are many ways to convince a man not to marry. Or interrupt a wedding, or make the bride see that her sweet fiancé is cheating on her. But she wasn’t going to be without that man. He was hers no matter what the cost. She’d be an efficient secretary to avoid getting fired, the closer to Antoni the better, so her plan would work.

-You’ll be only for my little boss. No one but me will stay with you, I’m the one you have to put the ring on.

Andromeda felt a chill, the breeze was cool but not enough to make her cold. Her mother-in-law noticed and told her to go upstairs and rest. She didn’t want her to catch a cold and then have to listen to her son rage all over the place. She agreed, leaving everything in the hands of the experienced woman.

She went up to her room and had some messages from her parents, Peter and of course Antoni. She would be home soon, she was anxious to see him again. Despite being four months old, the desire to make love to him was unbearable. She couldn’t wait for them to be alone so she could be with him, she only hoped that her bulging belly wouldn’t take away her former attractiveness and that in his eyes she wouldn’t be seen as desirable.

The new couple lay in bed after a hearty dinner, Andromeda ate her fill. Everyone was amused by the way she ate, but she didn’t care, she found that if she didn’t eat she would explode with rage. Poor Peter had to endure some of the worst stages. He was such a beautiful friend, he adored him deeply.

Antoni was a bit serious inside the room, it worried her maybe something was wrong in business.

-Is something wrong? she asked.

-I must tell you something important, my love.

-What happened? She asked with her heart in her hand.

-I was seeing someone for a while, but it was nothing serious. We just went out, but that ended a long time ago, love. It’s part of my past, I didn’t think we could go back. I just wanted to be honest with you, to marry you by being totally honest love. And that’s why I’m telling you what I did.

-Well good for you, now if you’ll excuse me I need to sleep.

-Are you angry?

-Yes.

-I swear there is and was nothing serious between us, my love.

-Let it go, Antoni, please!

She lay down on one side of the bed, and looked away from him. Her back was to her boyfriend, but at that moment she didn’t care. She was too upset to want to sleep cuddled up to him. Tears ran down her cheeks, she didn’t know why, but she felt a little hurt and disappointed. She was grateful that he didn’t insist any more on the matter, she didn’t want to hear any more about his secretary. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes in search of precious sleep to ease her grief.

In the morning, Andromeda woke up alone in bed. And she felt so sorry for that. At least she had expected to meet her fiancé, but she didn’t. As she looked down at the nightstand beside her bed, she saw a note and a red rose. She shouldn’t have but, it brought a smile to her face as she recognised the handwriting.

“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you before, I know you are hurt and feel cheated but I promise you that I have nothing with that person and that you are the only one I want in my life, you and my baby. Believe me, you are the love of my life. I promise to make it up to you for hurting you. I love you.”

Well he wasn’t there, but at least he had the courtesy to leave her the note. It was lovely and I couldn’t wait to find out what he intended to repay her with.
