"You can never feel affection from me because there is no such thing as a free lunch. Since you have never devoted your time to raising me, how could you gain anything from me?" Heinz said in a calm and composed manner.

Lawrence raised his eyebrows and looked at him, thinking of something.

Heinz said scornfully, "Oh! I seem to have forgotten that you are not a person who is willing to make any effort for your family, so even if you have a new child, I think you would still be the same. What you would do is to leave your child behind and not take the responsibility to raise him. It is because you are born to be heartless. The results would still be the same, even if you find ten thousand women. You are such an irresponsible man after all."

Lawrence squinted a little bit.

Heinz continued to say disdainfully, "You want to enjoy family love with your child without raising him? Don't even think about it!"

After spending quite some time fixing his gaze on Heinz, he said, "On what basis do you say these words?"

Heinz chuckled and said, "It is based on your conscience. I am an example. Just look at me. What have you done to make me who I am now? Dare you to deny it?"

Lawrence suddenly stood up and looked down at him. He took a deep breath.

"Sit down!" Heinz said sternly.

Perhaps the voice was too loud, because it shocked Lawrence. He was in a daze and sat down again unknowingly.

Maybe the son in front of him had really grown up into a capable man.

The son in his memory had grown up, and he didn't need anyone's protection anymore.

He gave a rueful smile and said, "Does my presence really make you feel so unpleasant?"

Heinz sneered and said, "Humph! Do you think I should be happy?"

He threw it back to his father. Lawrence said in surprise with a wry smile, "It seems that in your heart, I really have failed as a father."

Heinz said it, word by word, "It's not just that. In my heart, you're nothing but an a*shole."

Lawrence tensed up again because of his words. Those criticism and condemnation hurt him to the core, which made him stunned for a long time. After Heinz finished speaking, he looked unemotionally at his father.

He was wondering if his father would tell him about Lowell's background. He had an uncanny feeling that he would not.

Sure enough, he guessed it right.

His father didn't say anything.

After a while, he smiled bitterly and said, "Okay, I see. I'm such a person in your mind."

Heinz remained unruffled.

Lawrence paused for a while before continuing, "Are you really not going to introduce Grace to me?"

He replied in an unfriendly manner, "Why do you have to know Grace? Do you also want to know my sister-in-law, Alice?" "Or do you want to know Grace's mother?"

"But her mother is about to die soon."

When he said this, Heinz stared into his father's eyes and did not miss out on any emotions in his father's eyes.

He saw that his father's eyes narrowed before he calmed down again.

He cared about Candace very much.

Lawrence said, "There is nothing wrong with getting to know each other. We're a family now and I think it's necessary to do so. Why don't you arrange a meeting?" Heinz smirked and stared into his father's eyes.

"For your information, Grace hates her mother very much, and so does Alice."

Lawrence seemed to be surprised.

"Now, even Lowell hates his mother. Do you know who Lowell is?" Heinz asked. His gaze became even sharper as he glared at his father.

Lawrence paused and leaned back. He didn't even dare to look back into his son's penetrating eyes.

He turned his eyes away and asked, "Who is Lowell?" "This old man is really good at pretending!" Heinz thought.

He felt that he might forgive his father if he at least told him frankly that Lowell was his younger brother.

However, his father asked him in such a way, as if he didn't know. Heinz clenched his fists while scowling at his father.

"He is the child of my mother-in-law and an unknown old man. She tried to force Grace and I to take care of their child. What a foolish dream!"

"What are you going to do?" Lawrence asked anxiously.

Heinz sniggered and said, "I'm planning to send this child to Alsburg where there are many people with AIDS. Otherwise, I won't be able to get rid of the hatred in my heart." Lawrence was slightly staggered, and it could be seen that his eyes were full of astonishment.

Of course, Heinz did it on purpose. He deliberately said that because he was really angry. He just wanted to see his father's real reaction.

Lawrence replied, "Heinz, you are not that kind of person. Your mother-in-law gave birth to a little brother-in-law for you. Isn't that a good thing? He might be useful to you one day."

Heinz sneered again, as though he had heard the world's biggest joke. He gritted his teeth and asked contemptuously, "Is that so?"

Lawrence nodded and said with a comforting gesture, "Yes, as the saying goes, unity is strength!"

"But why do I feel like it's a disgrace to have a brother-in-law who is just several years older than my son? By the way, it's strange for you to start persuading me like this. Since you are my father, why are you speaking on behalf of others?" Heinz questioned in a cold voice.

Lawrence froze all of a sudden. He looked blankly at Heinz with complicated emotions in his eyes.

Heinz also looked back at him. There were too many questions in his eyes. However, in the face of his father, he suppressed his anger.

After a pause, Lawrence sighed and said, "I'm just telling you my thoughts. Do you really need to be so cruel to a child?"

Heinz asked brutally, "What's so cruel to me? Even Lowell's biological parents don't care about him. I am just his brother-in-law. It's because of his existence that Grace lost her mother's love and protection. Do you think it's easy for her to grow up without a mother?

Why should we work so hard for an irrelevant person?"

"Didn't you say that your mother-in-law is dying?"

Heinz said coldly, "Yes! Doesn't he still have a father? Just like you, his father doesn't care about his child. Both of you are a*sholes, am I right?"
