True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1612
The woman at his door was Teresa, but Liam did not let her in. He just stood in the doorway, preventing her from entering. He said calmly, "What is it? Just say it here."
Teresa was a little disappointed upon seeing how impatient Liam was toward her and how he did not want to let her in. She took a deep breath before saying, "What's wrong? Aren't you going to let me into you apartment? I haven't seen you in so long, yet you don't let me in?"
"It's not convenient," Liam replied.
"But it's also inconvenient for us to talk here. Liam, are you sure you won't let me in?" The woman batted her eyes and said coquettishly, "We're old classmates after all, and we haven't seen each other for a few years. Besides, this matter has something to do with me. Are you really not going to let me in?"
"Cut the cr*p. If you have something to say, just say it here and leave." It was clear that Liam was losing the little patience he had left.
"I really have something important to talk to you about. It's about work, thus it would be better for you to let me in so that we can talk about it," Teresa said in a very serious manner.
Liam pondered for a while, looking at her carefully. Then, he reluctantly let her in.
As soon as she entered the apartment, she looked around as if she was searching for something.
"Hey, are you hiding a woman here by any chance? Wow! Why is there so much food? Surely you can't finish it all by yourself. Are you hiding a woman in your apartment?" "What does that have to do with you?" Liam retorted curtly.
"Why are you so serious? I was joking. You weren't like this before!" She smiled and continued, "You should smile more. You've been smiling less these past few years. That's not like you."
"If you're here to catch up on old times, then there's no need for that. I'm not in the mood for a leisurely catch-up." Liam said flatly, his tone even colder than before.
"All right, fine. Let's get down to business." She looked at him, took off her hat, and put it on the sofa. After that, she took off her glasses and placed them on her hat, revealing her beautiful features. Liam flicked a casual glance at her, then looked away.
She said, "In truth, I'm just here for the sake of our old friendship. I was wrong back then. I used a lot of dirty tricks to get ahead."
Liam glanced at her calmly before sitting down on the sofa.
She shrugged her shoulders and spread out her hands. "Let me make this clear. I'm here for two things. The first is to apologize to you, as I owe you that."
Liam was expressionless. "That was a long time ago. I've long forgotten about it. You don't need to apologize to me, and you don't owe me anything."
"But I remember it. If I had listened to you back then and waited for my opportunity, I might not be as glamorous as I am now, but at least I wouldn't be alone." She laughed bitterly before saying, "Every night, I think about how I made my career work. There's no need to pretend in front of you. I really regret it. I regret the path I chose. You said that I would regret it, Liam. And I truly regret it now."
Her smile was bitter, and her eyes showed loneliness. She looked so sad and regretful.
Liam completely ignored her, as if he was not interested in what she was saying at all.
There was no need to recall those meaningless past.
Teresa felt sad when she noticed that Liam was not interested in all that. After thinking for a while, she went on, "The second thing is that I have a movie part in my hands. The investor agreed to let me cast the part, and I want you to play it."
"What are the conditions?" Liam asked in a cold voice.
Teresa burst into laughter. "Why are you keeping your guard way up? I have no conditions!"
"I don't want it," Liam refused directly.
Liam thought it odd that his manager, Johnny, did not come to talk to him about the part. Instead, it was Teresa who approached him.
Now that his managing company had put him on the back burner, he doubted that they would use him again.
"Why not? Liam, you're at the lowest point in your career. This part will be a good opportunity for you," Teresa said anxiously. "No one is looking to cast you in any movies now, and it wasn't easy for me to get this part for you."
Upon hearing that, Liam smirked. "Do you think I need your fake kindness?"
"How is it fake? I'm serious. I want to help you. I regret my actions, and I want to make up for my wrongdoings. Liam, I should not have hurt you." "Miss Trevino, don't speak so ambiguously. You make it sound as if there was something between us before this," Liam corrected her in a cold voice.
Maria, who was in the room, could hear their voices coming from the living room. She thought that it was strange that there was a woman's voice. And from the looks of it, they seemed to be talking about something personal.
The woman's voice sounded familiar, but Maria could not tell who it was. And as she could not seethe person, Maria could only guess.
"Ambiguous? Don't you think that you're overthinking? I don't mind it," Teresa declared.
"But I do."
"Huh, you're a man. Why should you care?"
"Teresa," Liam said in a deep voice, "You chose that path back then on your own. What does it have to do with me? As your former classmate, I tried to advise you, but I did not have any right to interfere with your choice. You made your decision, so just continue on the path that you've chosen. As for me, the low or high peaks of my career have nothing to do with you."
"If I had not made that choice, we would've been in a relationship, wouldn't we?" Teresa suddenly blurted out.
Liam's eyes narrowed, and there was a glint of irony in his eyes. At the same time, Maria's chest tightened.
A relationship? Maria thought to herself.
With Teresa?
That was a bit too much for her to bear.
She found it really unbelievable. Wasn't Teresa the singer who made her debut around the same time as Liam? She had released many songs in the past few years.
And she was considered to be one of the better singers in the industry. But now, she mainly acted in television series.
It turned out that she was Liam's classmate, and she even almost got into a relationship with him. Maria felt a little upset.
How did Maria not know about that? Maria wondered.
Liam laughed sarcastically. "Miss Trevino, aren't you mistaken? We were only classmates. When have we ever been close to being in a relationship?"
"But you know that I liked you."
"If you liked me, why didn't you choose me?"
"That was my mistake, Liam. Give me another chance. Let me be by your side again."
"Miss Trevino, I'm not worthy enough for you. I won't accept the part either. Please leave."
"Liam, why are you so stubborn? I really want to help you. I don't have any conditions. I just don't want you to continue being suppressed. It's fine if you don't want to be with me. I just want to help you. I really don't have any other conditions, okay?"
"No, I don't need you to help me. You can leave now."
