Grace was stunned. After Lowell reminded her, she came back to her senses in an instant, frowning as she said, "Yes, you're right. I'd only make things worse for her. Forget it. We'll talk about it after we've asked the doctor tomorrow."

"Sure."

The butler asked, "Shall I boil some soup then?"

"There's no rush to do so for now," Lowell ordered the butler, "Go and deal with your affairs."

The few of them looked at Grace, while Grace looked at Heinz with disdain.

Grace was unsatisfied. She told Ernest and Lowell, "Ernest, Lowell, most of the men here in the Jones family are already no good. It's all up to you two in the future."

Lowell was stunned. His lips twitched as he subconsciously turned to look at Heinz.

Heinz was at a loss for words. He was pissed, but he dared not speak.

Ernest nodded, "Alright, mom, don't worry. I won't be in a relationship or get married at will."

Heinz was stunned. Was he the type of person

Ernest had just described?

"I'm going to get some rest," Grace was ready to head back to take a quick nap. She mustn't waste too much energy as she needed to attend a funeral in the afternoon.

When Celeste returned to her room, she saw Gary getting out of bed, seemingly panicking. Once Gary saw Celeste entering the room with food, he was stunned before heaving a sigh of relief.

He said, "You gave me one hell of a fright. I thought you had left."

Celeste tensed up.

She looked at Gary and noticed that he was indeed worried. His sentence earlier was not a joke. A bitter feeling welled up in Celeste's heart as she said, "Where else can I go since I'm already here? Are you hungry? Here, have a bite. Aunt Smith mentioned all of us will leave at twelve in the afternoon. You have the time for some sleep."

Gary approached her, closed the door behind her and locked it. Then, he took the tray over from Celeste and placed it on the table. He turned towards her and hugged her tightly. Without a word, he lowered his head and was about to kiss her.

Celeste immediately covered his mouth to stop him from going any further.

Gary could not kiss Celeste and had his lips pecked on her palm instead. He frowned and pleaded, "Come on. Let me have a kiss."

Celeste shook her head and said in a soft voice, "Gary, times are different now. Today is your grandfather's funeral. We shouldn't act this way. This is a great disrespect to the deceased."

Gary was slightly taken aback. Noticing the serious expression on Celeste's face, he knew that she had always been an obedient child.

He heaved, "My grandfather has never been of much use to anyone. He has been too used to doing whatever he wants in his life. He's even stopping me from kissing my lovely woman even though he has passed away."

Gary's words were filled with protest.

"Don't say that," Celeste whispered, "We should respect the dead."

"Alright, I'll respect your decision," Gary sighed helplessly.

"Wash your face, come over and have something to eat. You can continue to sleep after that. Do you hear me?" Celeste said as she observed his eyes. She found that his eyes had recovered but they were still slightly bloodshot, which meant that he did not have a good sleep.

"I don't want to continue sleeping," Gary shook his

head.

"How's that possible? Your eyes are still red."

"It's fine. I think I'm doing well. Did you run into Heinz and my mother when you went down just then?"

"We talked for a while when we met," Celeste told him the truth.

"Was she happy to see you back?"

Celeste nodded, "Yes, I can feel that Aunt Smith is really pleased."

Gary smiled and said, "Of course, she regards you as her daughter-in-law. When she saw you coming to the funeral, she must have felt relieved. Of course, this is just a formality. What's most important is that have a spot in your heart. That's what delighted her."

Celeste took a deep breath before she asked, "Do you really think that it's important for me to come back?"

Gary nodded seriously, "Of course. Although I'm a carefree person, I think that these ceremonies are important in our lives. Our hearts and emotions are often reflected in the small details of life. I did poorly in the past, so that's why you feel wronged and sad."

"But then, I understood that once I did not realize my mistakes at that time. It was already too late by the time I came to an understanding. The problems had grown to be irreparable and irreversible. In short, I'm really, really glad that you came back this time around."

Gary looked at Celeste seriously. He spoke in a solemn manner while he fixed his gaze on her.

Celeste could feel his regret for not doing well in the past, just like her. Whenever he did something wrong, he would feel upset and regretful after reflecting on his actions.

It seemed that there was a lot for the two of them to improve on in the path of life.

Celeste felt that she was starting to look past the things she had been holding onto in her heart after listening to Gary's words.

She indeed felt that sense of letting go during the funeral in the afternoon.

It turned out that the end of one's life also meant the end of their legacy. Every grudge one held was so weak and incomparable to life.

By the time a person left, those things would no longer seem to be important any longer.

Celeste was dressed in black as she stood next to Gary, who wore a black outfit as well. He took care of herself all that while.

Lots of guests visited the Jones Mansion. A lot of them were surprised by Celeste's appearance as they wondered who she was and why she was standing next to the young master of the Jones family. Before the funeral ended, Celeste noticed Cindy.

Cindy arrived after someone had sent her a message. She noticed Celeste as well.

Celeste was surprised by Cindy's appearance at the cemetery when she noticed that she was looking at her from a distance. Stunned, she pondered for a brief moment before she walked towards Cindy. They had not seen each other for a few years, but Cindy was still the same. She was still wearing exquisite makeup with carefully combed hair.

Seeing Celeste coming over, Cindy sneered as she mocked, "You're quick to attend their family's funeral. Do you really think of yourself as a member of their family? Do you really think you can climb up the ladder of society with their help?"

Cindy's words were so sarcastic that they could have one frown deeply, but Celeste had thought it through and could remain unfazed after the funeral.

She thought that every conflict and problem was insignificant compared to life. Thus, when Cindy jeered at her in such a manner, she fixed her sympathetic gaze on her as if she was staring at a child who was throwing a tantrum and did nothing to rebuke her.

Cindy frowned and snapped coldly, "Why aren't you talking? You're left with nothing to refute, right?"

"How have you been all these years?" Celeste asked in a gentle tone, "Your complexion seems great. You must really be living a comfortable life."

Cindy did not understand why Celeste had said that as she sized Celeste up with doubt and suspicion in her eyes.

Celeste had changed.

She was not as sharp and tough to get along with as before.

Her hair was short, and her face was pale. She did not seem well, but she was still beautiful.

Cindy had to admit that Celeste was really goodlooking, just like that person in her memories. She was gorgeous as well.

Cindy squinted, the look in her eyes still as sharp as ever as she questioned, "Why? Do you feel unhappy because I'm living a good life?"

Celeste shook her head, "You're overthinking. I've always prayed for your happiness. Although I left you, I've never forgotten your kindness in raising me. Four years ago, I was insensible and embarrassed you I'm sorry. In the future, I only hope that you can stay healthy and happy. That's all. I'll take my leave. Please take care of yourself."

Celeste turned around and was about to leave. Cindy was dumbfounded.

She felt that Celeste had grown to be too quiet.

Her words had caught her off guard. Panic flashed through her eyes, and she felt as if she had been defeated by Celeste's quiet and calmness.

When she saw that Celeste was about to leave, she hurriedly called out, "Don't leave just yet."

Celeste was slightly stunned, turning around to look at Cindy once more.

It seemed like Cindy had regained her composure, but her gaze fixed on Celeste was still filled with contempt.

Celeste asked, "What else do you need?"

"Why do you seem so pale? Are you feeling unwell? Did the Jones family not treat you well?"

"No, you've misunderstood. I'm fine," Celeste smiled faintly, "If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."

"Give me your phone number," Cindy commanded.

Celeste was deep in thought before she shook her head, "I don't think there's any need for us to contact each other anymore. Goodbye."

She no longer cared about what Cindy had to say and turned around, returning to Gary's side.

In fact, Gary had long discovered Cindy's existence. He had also noticed Celeste going off to have a brief conversation with her. Initially, he was worried, but he felt that they would run into each other sooner or later. As such, he had been watching from afar.

Seeing Celeste quietly returning to his side, Gary was relaxed.

He then turned over to glance at Cindy, followed by a sharp glint flashing in his eyes. He asked the girl beside him in a soft voice, "Why did she look for you?"

Celeste shook her head and replied, "Nothing. We just exchanged greetings."

Not noticing any abnormal emotions in Celeste's eyes, Gary's heart that had been hanging mid-air finally landed on the ground and he stopped probing.

Lawrence Jones wanted to be buried alone. He did not want his ashes to be spread in the gardens of Alpine Resort, and he did not want to be buried next to Heinz's mother either. He wanted to be alone. It was said that this was his final will.

Laurence must have thought it through carefully, so he felt that it would be better to be buried alone after he died.

Heinz was quite satisfied with that.
