True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1532
Celeste nodded seriously, "Yes, I have the same thought as well. Thank you."
"You're always obeying Eason," There was a trace of jealousy in his tone. After that, he let out a long sigh as if he felt extremely helpless.
When it came to Celeste, he could not do anything at all.
Celeste was stunned when she heard that.
"Celeste," Gary called out her name with his gaze deep and bright, "You didn't actually want to thank me, did you?"
Celeste did not expect him to be so sharp to notice that.
"You've only remembered to thank me after Eason reminded you." Gary fixed his gaze on her, unblinking, "This shows that you've already thought of me as someone close to you." Celeste jolted up, her entire body tensed.
Gary smiled brightly with his loneliness vanished in a split second, "I'm glad. You consider me someone close to you. If I'm correct, you must have taken the initiative to thank him for his guidance, but he's a gentleman and doesn't want to take credit for it, so he wanted you to thank me."
Celeste's eyes widened, a trace of panic flashed in her eyes.
He had actually guessed it.
Was he even human?
He could even guess everything that had happened.
"Hurry up and sit down." Gary looked at Celeste's dazed gaze as if she had forgotten how to take her seat, so he reached out to pull her wrist.
Only then did Celeste sit down in embarrassment.
Gary laughed gloatingly, his mood brightening up.
"I don't want you to thank me. I want you, that's all," Gary whispered.
Celeste cast him another glance.
He ignored it.
Celeste felt that he was getting more and more overboard.
She kept her head low and did not speak, as she continued to mind her own business.
However, she realized that Gary treated her too well throughout the entire day. Whenever she frowned, Gary would notice where her problem was and help her with it.
Celeste understood that if he was just a colleague of hers, he would probably not teach her everything he knew.
They used to have an intimate relationship.
She knew that she could not rely on him as well.
She needed to work hard.
In the afternoon, Celeste received a phone call from the school that requested for her to return to Oxford University.
After work, she packed her things and prepared for the trip back to school.
The moment she left the company, Gary came up to her, "Come on. Let's return home together."
Celeste shook her head and informed him, "I need to head back to Oxford University. You should return home by yourself."
"Back to Oxford University?" Gary was startled.
When Celeste received the phone call from school, he was not around, so he knew nothing about it.
"There's something I have to attend to in school," She told him.
"Let me send you over then," Gary said.
"No." Celeste shook her head, "I'll stay in the dorm tonight."
"Then I'll stay at the villa in Oxford." After saying that, he thought of something and said, "You shouldn't stay in your dorm as well. Come and stay in the Oxford villa. I'll continue giving you lessons tonight." Celeste lowered her head, not knowing how to reply. If she followed him back, there would only be one bedroom. How were they going to sleep?
She shook her head and said, "No, it won't be convenient."
Gary instantly understood Celeste's thoughts. He chimed in immediately, "It's alright. You can stay in the bedroom. I'll sleep in the study room, alright?"
Celeste was silent.
"Come on." He decided on it on his own.
In Oxford.
When Celeste entered the school, Gary looked at her from inside his car and said, "I'll wait for you. Come and look for me in the car after you've dealt with your affairs." "There's no need to wait for me. I don't know how long this will take."
"It doesn't matter. No matter how long it takes, I'll still wait for you," Gary insisted.
Celeste hesitated.
Gary had the corners of his lips curled up into a smile and got off the car as well, "I'll have a look around. Go ahead. Give me a call when you're done."
Celeste nodded.
She entered the laboratory.
Gary strolled around the campus. With the sunset glow casting on the campus, the scenery looked like a painting.
After an hour.
The sun had already set.
When Celeste emerged from the lab, she did not call Gary and walked over to the place where he had parked his car instead.
His car was still there. Gary himself was standing under a street lamp.
There was quite a distance between him and his car. One of his hands was tucked in his pocket, while the other held the phone as he talked on the phone in English. His tall and strong figure was pacing back and forth.
He said loudly, "I don't want to listen to your explanation. I only want results. Since you can't finish it, there's no need for you to explain."
The man on the other end of the phone said something, but he retorted, "Whatever, but don't even think about threatening me. You're not qualified to do so."
With that, Gary hung up the phone.
Celeste felt nervous. What had happened to him?
She saw Gary standing still on the spot, his tall and slender figure stretched by the street lamp on the ground in the form of a shadow. His face was cold, and his lips were tightly pursed. He seemed to be infuriated.
Celeste walked over and asked in a low voice, "Have you been here all this time?"
The moment Gary turned around and saw her. His cold and handsome face relaxed, his frown replaced with a wide smile, "Are you done?"
Celeste nodded.
"Then let's go. Let's have our dinner." He was still smiling as if he was not the same person talking angrily on the phone a moment ago.
After getting in the car, Celeste spoke, "I heard you talking on the phone just now."
Gary was taken aback, "You mean the phone call?"
"Mhm," Celeste nodded. She looked at him worriedly and asked, "Who's threatening you?"
Gary was stunned. He turned around and stared at Celeste without blinking, not in a hurry to drive.
All of a sudden, he leaned over to Celeste's side, slowly getting closer and closer to her and only stopped when he was ten centimetres away from her face.
Celeste retreated in fear and had her eyes widened in nervousness. She was instantly on high alert.
Gary blinked his eyes and broke into a wide smile, asking in a playful manner, "Why are you so concerned about me?"
Celeste was at a loss for words.
She tried to calm herself down. Although she pretended to be calm on the outlook, her heart was in turmoil.
"Admit it. You're indeed worried about me," Gary spoke once more.
"I'm concerned about you," Celeste did not deny it, "So what happened? Who threatened you?"
That time, Gary did not continue to make things difficult for her. Instead, he went back to his seat.
Celeste's heart tightened. He had never told her anything about him, so she did not know him at all.
He might not tell her about it that time as well.
Besides, even if he told her, she wouldn't understand.
Just as her heart sank, Gary said, "It's a partner in my company. He wants to create some sort of trouble for me."
With her heart hanging mid-air, she looked at him worriedly, "But you're here, what should you do? I think you should return home and attend to your company's affairs."
Since it was his business partner, she knew that he held valuable company secrets. In that case, he might be able to threaten Gary. So the importance of that matter was not to be trifled with. "There's no need to go back." Gary shook his head, "Don't worry. I can handle it well."
"You can come back after handling it," Celeste suggested. She was indeed worried about him.
