Why don't we have lunch together? I'll treat you to a meal. Gary did not seem to be in a hurry to ask about her work. Rather, he wanted to treat Celeste to a meal. "I'm not hungry, She shook her head and said with her face devoid of emotions, "You can go by yourself."

"But it's time for lunch," Gary reminded her, "If you don't eat, you won't have time to eat even if you want to have a light bite later."

Celeste was stunned. She subconsciously lowered her head to take a look at her watch. Sure enough, it was time for lunch.

She did not expect noon to arrive so soon. The morning came and went with a blink of an eye. She could not even sense the passing of the time at all.

After sensing Celeste's hesitation, Gary spoke, "Come on, let's have lunch. Everyone has left the office as well."

He looked around. Sure enough, everyone had left.

Celeste was surprised to hear that as she took a look at her surroundings and failed to notice anyone present in the office. It seemed that everyone had indeed left the office.

Go ahead. There's a restaurant here."

Do you want me to have lunch by myself? Gary questioned, "I'm new here, and so are you. Shouldn't we, newcomers, take care of each other?"

Gary emphasized the word "newcomers" by dragging on.

When Celeste heard it, she was slightly stunned. For some reason, she blushed with a faint reddish glow on her face.

She lifted her head to look at him. Gary's eyes were pitch-black with his gaze scorching. He lazily leaned against his chair and looked at her as if he was awaiting her answer. Celeste could not read his thoughts, but she noticed her cowardly self in his eyes.

She felt somewhat annoyed, so she nodded and replied, "Alright, let's go."

"That's more like it. When he heard that, Gary finally cracked into a bright and dashing smile.

Celeste was stupefied by the smile as her heart pounded wildly, but she tried her best to regain her rationality. She told herself not to have her thoughts disrupted by him. Only by acting calm and staying rational could she maintain her own pace. If not, not only would she not be able to achieve her goals, she might even fall into the abyss. She did not want to end up in such a miserable state.

Celeste lowered her gaze, a dim light flashing past her eyes. She got up and was about to leave.

Gary stared at her. The atmosphere was great a while ago, but right then, it was tensed once more. His brows furrowed into a slight frown.

Why did he feel that Celeste was the one with a variable mood?

As if they had their positions switched.

Back then, everyone had said that he was the one who could have his mood shifted at once. However, Celeste seemed to be one who was in such a state right then.

The sentence 'every dog has its day' flashed through Gray's mind all of a sudden.

He looked at Celeste with a hint of pity in his eyes.

The two of them entered a restaurant in the company which served Northern City cuisine.

"Wow, how rare! Even the food here is cooked by chefs from Northern City." Gary's mouth widened in surprise.

Celeste nodded. She was surprised and impressed by that fact as well, "I think Uncle Jones is really awesome. He's really thoughtful in every aspect of the company. I was surprised the first time I came here as well. I never knew that I could enjoy Northern City food here."

Gary smiled and did not say anything else. Heinz was indeed capable.

A lot of workers in this branch office are locals. Sometimes, when they're homesick but can't return home due to certain circumstances, they can enjoy the food that brings back memories of their hometown. Uncle Jones thought of this fact and approved of such an amazing restaurant that serves a variety of dishes. He did so although this office doesn't have too many employees. A boss like him must be charming."

Ha!" Gary chuckled softly. It sounded like he did not agree with her comment.

"What are you laughing at? Celeste blushed when she heard his slight chuckle.

Celeste felt that his laugh was more like a scoff, which was filled with mockery. He seemed to have reverted to his arrogant and ignorant self in the past.

It's nothing. Gary looked at Celeste and frowned, "It just feels like the person you're talking about is not the same person I know."

Celeste was dumbfounded before she asked in return, "Don't you respect your father?"

Gary's lips twitched. It seemed like he did not respect Heinz, but at the same time, that was not exactly the case.

Why did it sound as though Celeste thought he disrespected Heinz a lot from her tone?

I heard that you've never addressed Uncle Jones as your father, Celeste once again spoke. She looked at him, suspicious.

Who told you that? Gary had a hunch that either Ernest or Maria were the ones who had blabbered around it.

Everyone. Celeste looked at Gary with disdain and incomprehension in her eyes.

When Gary noticed that, he shot a disapproving glare at Celeste, "Do you have a problem with that?"

"No."

But from the way you looked at me just now, it seems like you do have a problem with it."

Stunned, Celeste choked on her words, "No, that's not it. You've misunderstood me. Let's have our meal."

Gary felt somewhat dejected when Celeste stopped talking.

He looked around and saw people sitting together in groups, enjoying their meal. A few that had stared at them smiled and lowered their heads to continue consuming their food. Gary shot them an indifferent glance with his face expressionless.

With that, he asked Celeste, "What would you like to eat?"

Celeste headed straight to the Northern City cuisine area of the restaurant and stared at the mouth-watering dishes. She also noticed a few compatriots who seemed friendly.

She announced, "I will only eat local food. Well, whenever I'm here, I'm always going for the Northern City cuisine."

As she spoke, she went to place her order. She ordered two different dishes and a bowl of soup with her lunch card.

Gary went along with her. When he was about to pay, he was reminded of something, "I haven't gotten my employee meal card yet. Can I use yours for now?"

Celeste paused for a moment, then she nodded, "Oh, alright then. Here, use mine.

She handed her card over to him.

Gary gave her a thoughtful look and smiled, "Celeste, I'll return you the money later."

Celeste shook her head, "There's no need."

"Of course, I'll have to pay you back." He said with solemn face, "There wasn't a need back then, but now since you don't want to have anything to do with me, it would be better to return the money." Celeste once again choked on her words. In the end, she could only manage to say, "Fine by me.

After that, she took her plate to a table, sat down, and started to enjoy her meal.

At that moment, Eason came over with a plate as well.

Celeste, how are you doing? Eason asked Celeste, "How is Gary doing?"

"Master. Celeste nodded and looked at Eason before she replied, "He's smart. He managed to learn everything I had learned in the past few days in just one morning. He can even point out the parts I didn't do well enough in. I don't think he needs an internship at all."

"Is that true? Eason was slightly surprised, "He could absorb everything you've learned in such a short time?"

That's right. Celeste felt dejected at the thought of how inferior and stupid she was.

There's no need to be sad, Seeing her face drooping, Eason comforted her in a hurry, "Actually, you aren't too bad yourself. You're a lot quicker to learn than others as well."

"Master, stop comforting me. Celeste shook her head as she smiled embarrassingly.

"I'm not comforting you." Eason shook his head and re-emphasised, "You're indeed a smart girl. Not everyone can be on par with you."

Then I'll assume that you're encouraging me. Celeste remained modest. She thought that Eason was motivating her.

"Well, it's great to have some encouragement. As for Gary, it seems that I'll have to assign him new tasks this afternoon.

"Yes, of course. He's idle. Celeste nodded, "I think these basic tasks are too easy for him, but a little too difficult for me."

Eason smiled and replied, "Don't worry. You can learn from him and make up for your shortcomings. This is the fastest way to learn in the workplace."

I'm quite anxious. Celeste felt embarrassed and chuckled, "I'm afraid that I will be a burden to you."

Eason hurriedly waved his hand, "It doesn't matter. Enjoy your meal. I'll delegate tasks for Gary later. After that, you can learn from him. If he's talented, you can also improve at the same time." "Yes, I will definitely learn from him. Celeste had to admit that Gary was indeed brilliant.

Once Gary received his meal, he turned around and saw Celeste and Eason sitting face to face.

Celeste had a bashful smile on her face as she giggled at Eason as if she was embarrassed. When Gary saw that, he frowned.

He looked at them from afar, his eyes filled with displeasure, but soon, he suppressed the emotions deep in his heart.

Gary approached Celeste and Eason, taking his seat beside Eason upon arriving at their side and put on a slight smile, "Mr. Trevino, what a coincidence. Do you mind if I sit next to you?"

"Of course not. Eason nodded slightly and answered in a polite but distant manner, "Please have a seat."

But Gary had already sat down.

Thank you."

Eason glanced at him and said with a smile, "Celeste told me that you're quick-witted to learn everything she had learned in just one morning. You even pointed out a lot of constructive suggestions."

Gary shook his head and replied in a humble manner, "No, it just so happens that I'd been exposed to this stuff before, so I'm quick to pick it up."

Don't stay too humble. Young people like you need to be confident. I'll arrange other stuff for you this afternoon. Eason informed them as he ate.

Celeste listened attentively and nodded from time to time with a humble attitude.

Gary glanced at Celeste several times.

The longer he stared at her, the more jealous he felt.

That was because Celeste had never obeyed his words, so why was she so polite to Eason?

That annoyed Gary, but he did not have anything to do with Celeste right then. There was nothing he could do about it, so all he could do was suppress that jealousy of his.
