True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1494
Maria had to admit that she had a dark side in her heart. Maybe she couldn't show it to others, but she just wanted to do so.
She wanted to force Liam to face it and also force herself to observe it clearly.
But soon, Liam smiled at the camera and said, "I didn't expect to see both of you at the same time. Nice to meet you, Celeste. Long time no see."
He greeted them gracefully, and his expression was not as stiff as before. He even looked at the two girls directly with a smile on his face.
"Hello, Liam," Celeste greeted him politely, "I just wanted to drop by and say hi. By the way, congratulations on being a couple with Maria. This is really pleasant news. I'm happy for both of you."
"Thank you for your blessings. I've heard that you're together with Gary, am I right?" Liam asked in return with a slight grin.
"That's right," After thinking about it, Celeste admitted coolly, "I'm with Gary now, so you should congratulate us as well."
"Congratulations! I thought you two were quite suitable before, and now it seems that you two are doing quite well. Miss White should be relieved."
The sudden mention of Cindy made Celeste pause slightly, and the expression on her face stiffened.
Liam had also noticed it. He smiled and said, "My apologies, I've said something wrong."
"It doesn't matter, and it isn't something you can't mention," Celeste cracked into a smile, "You should talk to Maria now. I won't disturb you two anymore."
After saying that, she grabbed her bag and waved goodbye before leaving the room.
Celeste thought that she did well. At least, she was graceful and steady. Since Liam was with Maria now, she was bound to meet them in the future. It was important for her to act naturally to support Maria. Meanwhile, Maria was the only one left in the room. She held the phone nervously and looked at Liam, who stared at her with a calm face.
His gaze was vaguely sharp, which made Maria feel guilty. She forced a grin as she asked, "Why are you looking at me this way?"
Liam fixed his unblinking gaze on Maria. The expression on his face was serious as he stared at Maria without saying a word.
Maria was flustered by his gaze. She felt that he had noticed something, so she tilted her head and asked with a smile, "Why don't you say anything? Didn't you send me a video call invitation? I was studying with Celeste just now. You interrupted us in the middle of our seriousness."
Liam sighed softly upon hearing that. How could he not understand Maria's intention?
He was smart and steady, so he had already calmed down and reflected on his emotions at that moment.
Looking at Maria's insecure appearance, a look of pity and doting fluttered through Liam's eyes. He spoke while gazing straight into Maria's eyes, "Maria, I just want to tell you that you can trust me completely." Maria was stunned and looked up at him, which made her feel even more guilty.
"Let bygones be bygones. Don't try to test me in the same way as you did just now. Since my heart belongs to you, this means that I'll always be yours. What I've decided on won't change over and over again." Maria was instantly stunned.
"If you still don't trust me enough, I'm sure that it's because I didn't do it well enough."
"I'll reflect on myself and treat you even better in the future. But if I try my best and you still don't believe me or forgive me, I may be a little forlorn and anxious. Do you understand what I'm feeling?"
Maria nodded.
It was terrible as he even discovered her intentions. Maria looked at Liam guiltily and sighed awkwardly, "I'm sorry. It's not that I don't believe in you, but I just thought that... Forget it. It's my fault. I was somewhat petty, and I just wanted to test your reaction when you saw Celeste."
Maria couldn't hold it in anymore. She admitted what she had been concerned about.
After being honest, she didn't feel as uneasy as she had previously been. Instead, she seemed frank and broad-minded.
At that moment, Maria suddenly felt that it was not a big deal. The two of them had to be honest with each other for the sake of understanding each other's feelings. It was very tiring to keep guessing, and it did not suit her character either.
Seeing that Maria was admitting to it at once, Liam broke into a chuckle, "Oh you..."
In fact, Maria was clear that a relationship could not withstand any probing.
Her actions of wanting to test Liam's behaviour was naive and foolish, so she immediately apologized, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do it. I won't do it again."
Seeing that she was sincerely apologizing, Liam smiled slightly, "I didn't plan to criticise you, but I saw through you at a glance. You're bad at lying, so if you're up to something, everyone can see through you in a glance. You're a child who's naturally born not to scheme, so you should remain innocent."
"I'm not a child. I'm an adult now," Maria immediately refuted, "If I were a child, you would be a pedophile."
Liam's expression froze for a second before he blushed furiously. He didn't know whether to laugh or cry, "Yes, you're not a child anymore. I apologize to you for the slip of the tongue."
"You don't have to apologize. There's no need for an apology between us," Maria expressed her magnanimity.
"Alright, I won't apologize then," Liam nodded and continued, "You're an adult from your age, but you're indeed a few years younger than me. Given that I can see through your mind, others will see through it as well. Sometimes, if you really want to do something, don't let others see through your thoughts. Perhaps they won't find out if you hide it a little deeper."
"Are you teaching me how to deceive you?" Maria blinked as she asked.
Liam burst into laughter and said softly, "Do you think you're willing to deceive me?"
He was right. He could read her mind at once.
Indeed, Maria was not willing to lie to Liam.
"I can tell from your expression that you're not willing to do so, and you won't lie to me either, so you'd better be yourself," Liam smirked, "I know you're not a girl who's good at lying, and I know what you're thinking most of the time. That's why I'll be sure to give you a sense of security and comfort."
"I get it. You know everything about me," Maria was extremely moved in her heart. She was glad that Liam was much better than she thought he was. She definitely did not fall in love with the wrong person. When Celeste came out of Maria's room, she ran into Ernest in the corridor.
The two of them saw each other and smiled slightly.
"Gary has already left, hasn't he? I heard Maria say that he returned to Boston last night."
Celeste nodded and replied, "Yes, he arrived last night. He insisted on not letting us send him off, and I didn't bid him farewell either."
Ernest laughed, "He has always been a free and unfettered person. He doesn't want his actions to be restrained, nor does he want his whereabouts to be interfered with."
Celeste nodded. She had to admit it.
In fact, Ernest was the person who knew Gary the best among all those people.
He could point out all of Gary's habits and actions in one go.
"Yes, he's a person that doesn't like others to interfere with his affairs."
"What about you? Haven't you thought about applying to study in Boston? I thought you wouldn't have thought of it four years ago, but you should have thought of it now," Ernest commented lightly, "Yet, you still don't have the intention to go to Boston."
Celeste was a little surprised. She stared at Ernest in disbelief and questioned, "Do you mean that I should go to Boston secretly by myself?"
"Secretly? Why do you have to do it discreetly?" Ernest shook his head and laughed helplessly, "Celeste, you always listen to what Gary says. Don't you have your own thoughts? Do you think you can do whatever he asks you to do? Why should you study in Boston in secret? You can study openly there. Either apply as an exchange student, or just apply to go there! Basically, you can do whatever you want. Why are you afraid of going?"
Celeste gave it some thought for a while and suddenly realized that what Ernest had said was right.
She laughed at herself and said, "I may care too much about him, but you're right. It's just that I realized that he doesn't want me to go. I've decided that once he's open to the idea of me going, I will refuse to go."
It was Ernest's turn to be bewildered.
Celeste said with a cheeky smile, "I've made it clear today. Do you want to hear what Maria said?" "Sure, I'm all ears."
