True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1443
Yvonne was finally relieved after receiving Maria's call in the middle of the night.
She asked anxiously on the phone, "Maria, where the hell have you been? Not only did you not pick up, but you even switched your phone off. Do you know how worried your dad and I are? Your grandma was so worried that her blood pressure shot up."
"Mommy, I'm all good. I'm with a friend. You don't have to worry about me," Maria quickly explained. "I'm safe. I'll be back soon."
"I'll go pick you up," Yvonne told her.
"No, it's fine, Mommy. He will be sending me back," Maria explained. "Don't worry about me."
"I can finally relax now that I've heard your voice," Yvonne said. "Hurry up and come back. Your dad nearly called the police and sent a few people to look for you."
"Ah, then quickly tell Dad." Maria was shocked by her mother's words. "I'll be home right away. I'll hang up now."
She made the call beside Liam.
He was driving.
Maria felt embarrassed after what happened between them. Everything changed beyond her expectations and diverted from her original intentions.
After hanging up the phone, Maria found that the atmosphere had become much more awkward.
She could still cover some of her emotions when she made the call. But now, there were only two of them in the car. Her mind was in a state of chaos after they slept together after getting drunk. She wondered what was going on in Liam's mind.
"That..."
"You..."
They spoke nearly in unison and also shut up at the same time.
Maria turned her head to look at him. His mask was no longer on him. He had already taken his cap and mask off as soon as he entered the car. His face looked even more refined, illuminated by the dashboard lights.
The neon lights on the street flashed past from time to time, shading his features in a layer of warm tone.
"After you," Maria said awkwardly.
Stumped for a split second, Liam turned to look at her. His eyes were full of apologies. "Are you okay?"
Maria felt a buzz in her head, and she asked, "Which aspect are you referring to?"
She was doing fine mentally. Apart from feeling awkward and at a loss, she still was glad because she finally got her idol.
However, her body wasn't doing so well.
After going through such an experience, she really didn't feel comfortable.
It hurt.
However, she supposed Liam was asking about her feelings.
To her surprise, the next second, he asked, "Does it still hurt?"
Maria's eyes widened in disbelief. Suddenly, the atmosphere froze. Then, her face became warm, and she didn't dare to look at him anymore.
"Mm."
"I'm sorry," he said.
"It's okay. We were drunk. I know I'm the one who lost control." She decided to take all the responsibilities. "Don't feel guilty. I must have done something to cause you to do that to me. We're both adults anyway. I didn't lose out."
She was comforting Liam.
However, her words irritated him. "Don't say that about yourself."
"I mean it." Maria was afraid that he would get angry, so she blamed herself and hurriedly replied, "I like you. I genuinely feel like I've gained being able to sleep with you. So you really shouldn't feel guilty toward me."
Liam tightened his grip on the steering wheel as he frowned. He thought for a moment and said, "But it was your first."
After a moment of bewilderment, she asked, "By the way, is this not your first time? You seem to know what you're doing." She vaguely remembered he had done it three times. He tormented her for a long time, and later on, it felt good.
Liam frowned and said, "Men know this by nature."
Maria was stunned at once. "So that was also your first time as well?"
He pursed his lips and kept silent. However, his ears became rosy.
Stumped, Maria looked at him. Then she cried in astonishment. "Shut up! Have I won the lottery?"
After thinking for a while, Liam asked, "What do you want me to do?" "You don't have to do anything." She shook her head. "Let's just forget about it."
She had never thought of holding him accountable.
"Does it not matter to you?" His tone seemed peculiar.
"No, what I mean is, you don't have to feel burdened by it. You really don't need to take any responsibility. I should be responsible for my own doings." She muttered, "You are already unfortunate enough. You like Celeste, yet you couldn't get her feelings back. Not only that, I took advantage of you and slept with you. How unlucky you are to have met me, so I really can't ask more of you. If anything, I really think I got lucky. Anyway, can we not talk about this anymore? It's kinda awkward."
"You should think about it tonight. Tell me when you've made up your mind," he said solemnly.
"Okay." He drove Maria to the entrance of her house. From the lights of the car, she saw her mother, grandmother, and servants all standing at the door as if they were all gathered there, waiting for her. She was dumbstruck. She quickly uttered, "Stop the car. There are so many of my family members there, and they're all waiting for me. Drop me off here. You should leave as soon as possible." She was afraid he would look bad if anyone noticed anything.
Liam's face became gloomy. In the end, he didn't listen to her and stopped the car right at the doorstep.
He turned to glance at her and found that her clothes were tidy. Seeing that nothing looked out of the ordinary, he was slightly relieved. He then lowered his head to look at
himself before opening the car door.
At that moment, Nerissa and Yvonne were
shocked for a moment, and they all stared at Liam.
Yvonne was even more dumbfounded.
When Maria jumped out of the car, she was almost dying from the pain.
She felt the change in her body was simply too painstaking for her to endure.
But she couldn't cry out in pain. She could only pretend to be composed and quickly walked over. "Grandma, Mommy, I'm back. It's so late already. Why are you all standing here?"
"You're finally back." Nerissa glanced at her granddaughter to make sure that she was fine. She then looked at Liam and said, "Who's that? Why does he seem familiar?" "Oh, he's Liam, a senior back in England. We studied in the same university," Maria said, trying to cover it up, "Um... Liam, this is my grandmother, and this is my mommy."
The adults studied Liam.
It was close to one o'clock, yet they were all looking at him, not letting him go.
Maria felt as if her heart was going to jump out of her chest anytime soon.
On the contrary, Liam was calm. "Hello, Mrs. Lowe, Mrs. Lowe. I'm Liam. I apologize for causing all your worries. Maria was with me the whole time. Sorry for bringing her back so late. It'll never happen again." "Oh, no worries." Seeing that Liam was so handsome and so sincere, Nerissa immediately took a great liking toward him. "You youngsters like to have fun. We're just a little worried because we couldn't get through to her."
Yvonne also followed along, "Mr. Robinson, why don't you come in for some tea."
"Mommy, it's too late. Why don't you all go in first? Let Liam go home and rest." She was afraid they would misunderstand, "Mommy, your car has been left aside for too long; it broke down when I was driving earlier. Liam was the one who called the towing service to take it for repair. He's really tired today; he should be going home for a rest."
"Ah, I see." Yvonne muttered.
"Perhaps some other time, Mrs. Lowe. It's too late now; I shouldn't bother you all anymore. I'll pay a visit when I bring the car over." He said very politely.
"Alright then," Yvonne said. "Maria, you should see Liam off. We'll go inside first, you don't have to be in a hurry to come in."
Dumbfounded, she wondered what her mother was implying. Why shouldn't she hurry?
Yvonne helped her mother-in-law into the door, and the servants followed suit.
There were only two people left at the door.
When they all entered the house, Maria looked back and made sure there was no one. She then whispered, embarrassed, "You shouldn't have come down. I'm fine. You should go back; I'm going in as well." Liam lowered his head and looked at Maria for a while. Seeing how she urged him to leave, an unspeakable sense of loss arose in his heart.
"Go in then. I'm leaving."
"Mm." She nodded and urged, "Hurry up, it's getting too late."
"Call me when you've made up your mind."
"Got it." Maria replied.
Liam got in the car and left in no time. Maria then went in nonchalantly, as if they only had a meal instead of sleeping together.
Watching her enter the house without looking back at all, Liam felt empty inside.
It wasn't until Maria got to the entrance that she turned to watch his car leave.
She had to face her family.
She hoped her parents and grandmother wouldn't ask her too much.
She pushed the door open and went in.
Then she saw her mommy waiting for her alone. "Go get some sleep. We'll talk tomorrow if there's anything."
"Aren't you going to ask why I came back so late?" Maria asked her mother.
"Didn't you already explain it just now?" Yvonne said, "Besides, Liam looks honest and steady. There's no need for me to ask anything."
Maria was once again baffled.
Mommy was really open-minded.
Her daughter had already turned into a woman, yet her mother didn't even notice it.
She pouted, smiled, and let out a sigh of relief. "Yes, he's really nice. Goodnight, Mommy."
"What are you talking about? I have to deal with your father. The car broke down because he wouldn't let me drive at all."
Stunned, Maria watched as her mother left upsettingly.
No one really asked her anything.
She then went upstairs, back to her room.
It was just that when she returned to her room, she was in so much pain her whole body was covered in sweat. After taking a shower, she stood in front of the bathroom mirror and noticed her body was clearly covered in hickeys.
Liam left them all there on her.
She smiled, and then the smiles slowly turned into tears.
It was an indescribable feeling. It was so beautiful, yet so heartbreaking.
When Liam returned to the apartment, he looked at the remaining cake on the table, and it seemed as if Maria's presence still lingered in the space.
He returned to his room in silence. The faint charming atmosphere made him close his eyes in an instant.
There was a faint bloodstain on the grey sheets. He sat down and looked at it in a daze, unmoving for a long time.
He knew clearly what that meant.
