Maria felt really strange to see Liam here, "H-Haven't you left long ago?"

Liam's eyes fell on her. When he saw the surprised look in her eyes, he said, "I had some errands to run."

"Oh." Maria nodded.

"What happened to your car?" Liam asked again.

"It broke down," Maria said honestly.

Leah nodded along. "Mr. Robinson, what a coincidence to meet you again. You and Maria are destined to meet each other, huh?"

Maria became nervous. She quickly reached out and tugged on Leah's clothes, asking her to watch her mouth.

Leah chuckled. "What are you afraid of? It's true. You've met each other twice in just one day. How can you say that both of you are not destined to meet?"

After that, Leah looked at Liam again as she asked with a smile, "Am I right, Mr. Robinson?"

Liam didn't say anything but only smiled. Then, he looked at Maria and asked, "Have you called for towing service?" "Not yet, I'm still searching for the number," Maria replied, looking at her phone.

Liam got out of the car and walked toward her. "Hold on. Let me see what's going on."

"Do you know how to repair cars?" Maria raised her head and looked at him in surprise.

"I'm not sure," Liam said, "I have to take a look to see what's the problem."

As he spoke, he opened the car door, went in, and checked around. He tried to start the engine again, "I don't know much about what actually happened. I'm assuming it has something to do with the engine. You still have to get a towing service for this car to be sent to the repair shop."

As he uttered, he took out his phone and called a towing service company, requesting their service.

Maria stared at him in a daze the entire time, overwhelmed.

She always thought he wasn't too enthusiastic toward her, so she didn't dare to expect much from him.

But now, he actually actively helped her.

Maria was rather gobsmacked.

Liam had arranged everything well. After he hung up, he then turned to Maria and Leah, "You two should go and wait in my car first. I'll send you both back after the car gets towed away. It's not safe for you guys to stand on the side of the road."

Maria immediately shook her head. "There's no need for that. We'll wait here. I'm grateful for your help. You should leave first."

If it was back then, Maria would happily get in his car without hesitation. But after experiencing so many things, Maria was no longer the same as before.

She now had her worries and restraints, so she turned him down.

Hearing that, Liam frowned slightly and said, "I don't have anything else to do later on. Just get in the car."

"There's really no need." Maria shook her head and rejected him once again.

Liam frowned and replied solemnly, "Is it because of last time that you don't dare to sit in my car anymore?"

Maria suddenly recalled the scene of them kissing in the garage. She suddenly felt embarrassed and her face turned red.

It seemed there was something between them.

Leah's eyes were rolling around, smartly. She had realized something was going on between them. It seemed that Maria and Liam had an unspeakable atmosphere between them.

She decided not to be the third wheel.

Coincidentally, a taxi arrived. Leah waved her hand and said to Maria, "Maria, since Mr. Robinson is free for the rest of the day, why don't the two of you wait for the towing service together? I have something urgent to attend to, so I have to leave now. I'll treat to you a meal as an apology another time."

"You're leaving?" Maria was shocked as she watched Leah getting in the taxi.

"Sorry." Leah winked at her and said to Liam, "Mr. Idol, please save her, don't leave her all alone here."

"Don't worry." It was rare for Liam to say such a thing.

"You will be blessed." Leah smiled and got in the car.

Maria felt even more embarrassed. She didn't even dare to look at him anymore.

"Get in the car. Are you going to let me continue to stand here with you?" He said, "Although I'm not popular anymore, I was before regardless."

"Alright," Maria mumbled quickly and got into the backseat of the car.

However, Liam grabbed her arm and said, "Sit in

the front."

Maria was stunned.

He had already opened the door of the front passenger seat.

Maria hesitated for a second, but she still got into the front seat.

The two of them sat side by side. She was quiet and stiff. Her movements seemed to be really careful.

"What were you doing in studio city?" Liam's tone was casual. As if he was just trying to make talk.

"I came to have a look around," Maria said. "To know more about the place."

"Are you planning to join the showbiz?" He glanced at her.

Maria pursed her lips and kept quiet.

She had to do this quietly; at least she wouldn't let people know about it before she succeeded.

"Are you interested in acting?" Liam asked again.

Maria couldn't help but felt that Liam was loquacious that day, contrasting to his cold attitude toward her previously.

"No, it never crossed my mind." She shook her head and twitched her lips at him. "I had nothing to do, so I just came to have some fun."

Liam frowned and replied, "I thought Celeste knew Miss White was filming here, so she asked you to come over."

There was a buzz in Maria's mind as if something had exploded.

So that was it.

No wonder Liam was suddenly so enthusiastic toward her. It was all because of Celeste.

Her lips twitched. She was no longer that tense anymore.

It turned out people really needed some will to fight.

"If you want to get something out of me about Celeste, I'd advise you not to waste your efforts. I have no contact with Celeste at all." Maria's tone was a lot fainter.

Liam frowned. There seemed to be a trace of annoyance in his eyes.

The silence was filling the atmosphere.

"Mm." Liam suddenly hummed.

Maria really didn't understand what she was trying to indicate.

"I don't have the information you want, Mr. Robinson, so you don't have to waste your time with me. I'll get out of the car now. Mr. Robinson, you should leave first." She didn't want to stay here with Liam anymore. She felt hurt.

It took her a great deal to heal her broken heart, yet the wound was torn apart just like that. It seemed that to love someone, one had to be strong enough. Otherwise, they might not be able to bear the pain of a broken heart.

She opened the door and was about to get out of the car.

At this moment, Liam grabbed her hand with a little force. "I'm sorry."

He apologized.

Maria almost thought she had misheard it.

She looked at Liam dumbfoundedly, unsure of what she heard.

"It was my bad." He whispered, "You don't have to get out of the car."

Maria pursed her lips. "I accept your apology."

Liam smiled; his eyes were bottomless.

"I didn't make myself clear." Liam said, "It was Miss White who asked me to come over. She told me you were here, and I was afraid she might do something to you. That's why I came." Maria was stunned. "You said you're here because of me?"

Liam tugged his lips awkwardly and said, "No matter what, we're friends. I don't want anything bad to happen to you."

Maria was stunned. Her eyes met his.

Liam looked at her deeply but did not say anything. Instead, he twitched his lips, selfdepreciated.

As if there was an indescribable emotion in him, his eyes were bitter yet full of realization.

"Let's talk," Liam said.

"Sure." Maria nodded. "What do you want to talk to me about?"

Liam turned his head to the front. "You said you like me."

Maria's heart started to pound wildly.

"Yes, I like you." She nodded. "I have liked you for a long time, and it has never changed. No matter what, I still like you."

Liam clenched his fists slightly and asked again, "Why do you like me?"

"There's no reason for that." Maria fixed her gaze in front, too. They didn't look at each other but straight ahead. "It's a kind of impulse. I thought it wouldn't last long, but as time passed, my feelings for you grew clearer and clearer. It's bitter, yet also very sweet at the same time." "But I don't like you," he said.

His words hit her right into the abyss.

"I know." She was very calm about it. "It's my freedom to like you and yours to decide whether to respond to my feelings or not. There's no conflict at all."

"Is it even worth it?" Liam frowned suddenly. "You're only 20; you're at your best age. You should find someone who likes you as your boyfriend and be in a lovely relationship so you'll not have any regrets later

on."
