True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1412
Maria was stupefied and burst into laughter, "You're so straightforward."
"I don't like being reserved and all," Leah said with a smile, "Well, if you really can help, if you happen to know any big experts in the field of oncology, please do see if they can spare some time to diagnose my relative's condition."
Maria looked at Ernest and asked, "Ernest?"
"I'll help," Ernest did not refuse, "Leah, send me your relative's details."
As he said that, he handed his mobile phone over to Leah.
Leah was stunned. It was probably because she did not think that they would help. Seeing the look on Ernest's face, she was also a little surprised.
"Save your contact in my phone, and add me on WhatsApp so it's convenient for us to contact each other," Ernest said bluntly, "I'm driving, and it's not convenient for me to use my phone now. Leah, you can do it by yourself."
"Okay, thank you," Leah took the phone and opened it. There was no password needed to unlock the phone, so he probably had no secrets.
She called herself on Ernest's phone. As soon as the ringtone rang, she saw the number and saved it in his contacts list.
After that, she entered her own name, Leah Winston, as the caller ID.
Then, she added him quickly on WhatsApp.
Leah soon returned the phone to Ernest.
"I've sent it to you on WhatsApp," She said, "Thank you very much, Mr. Jones."
"Leah, you're not willing to be called Miss Winston, and I'm not willing to be called a Mr. either. You'd better call me by my name." Leah smiled and nodded her head generously, "Alright, Ernest, thank you."
"You're welcome."
A while later, he sent Leah to the hospital's inpatient department. After entering the hospital, she went to see her relative.
Ernest and Maria didn't leave directly. In the car, Ernest called Lester. Fortunately, he was in the country.
Ernest asked him to come to the hospital to help Leah's relative find an expert in oncology.
After Lester arrived, he asked them in surprise, "Is it a very important friend? Do you want the president to do it himself?" "Mr. Lester, you can handle it yourself," Ernest explained, "Don't bother my dad." Lester found that the two of them had grown up a lot. They usually talked to either him or Alex directly instead of asking the president for help.
He sighed, "I see. I won't let the president know."
"As expected, Mr. Lester," Maria also gave Lester a thumbs up and flattered him.
With that, Lester took the information regarding Leah's relative and went off to make arrangements.
Soon, he returned and informed them, "I've taken care of it. A famous expert will go and help her. However, the patient's condition is very serious and they might need a kidney transplant." Ernest was stunned and asked subconsciously, "Is there an available donor?"
"I don't know."
"If that's the case, please help keep an eye on the situation. If anything happens, we'd hope that the patient will be able to get a kidney transplant as fast as possible," Ernest requested. Lester stared blankly for a moment. Raising his eyebrows, he looked at Ernest and asked in confusion, "Young Master Ernest, why are you so anxious about this patient?" Ernest frowned, "Mr. Lester, do I look nervous?"
"Alright, you don't need to be nervous. I'll just keep an eye on him," Lester said, "Don't worry, I'll continue to keep an eye on the situation and make sure the task is carried out perfectly." "Thank you, Mr. Lester."
After going back, Ernest received a message from Leah.
"The expert came and inspected my relative comprehensively, reevaluating their physical condition. Thank you so much."
They were very simple words. Ernest read the message and stared at it for a while. He had a feeling that these words were sent to him after quite careful deliberation.
He also replied with a short and simple message, "You're welcome."
There were no more text messages that came in later, and he did not reply more. After putting down the mobile phone, he opened his notebook and began to study the book written by Leah.
That book was a very famous webnovel. After searching for it online, it turned out to be one of the top ten popular novels.
There were a lot of fans who all complimented it for its adrenaline-racing plot.
The novel's premises were based in ancient times, and it belonged to the romance genre. The main lead was a hero who was able to cut through all obstacles and difficulties, accompanied by a heroine who went through ups and downs with him. They experienced all kinds of extreme hardships, forming an inspirational story of love.
Their story was mixed with a strong sense of patriotism and deep emotional conflicts that required patience and communication. Yet, the two protagonists had undying belief in each other.
Such a relationship was widely popular amongst the general public.
Ernest just read through some comments and began to study the copyright problems of this online novel.
It was not until late at night that he took a bath and finally went to sleep.
After Maria went back, she also studied hard to improve her knowledge.
The harsh reality had uncovered her naive thoughts and ways of resolving problems. Her parents had really protected her too well. In England, they had people to take care of them and send them to school. Therefore, she hadn't had the chance to experience the bumps in life.
Compared to those who were working on their own, Maria felt that her growth had gone too smoothly.
She couldn't help but call Celeste.
When the phone was connected, it was noon where Celeste was.
Gary went to buy some food again.
When she saw that it was Maria's number, she immediately picked it up.
"Maria?"
"Celeste, I'm telling you, I suffered a blow today," Maria sighed, "I really don't know if it was right for us to study in England."
"What's wrong?" Celeste's heart skipped a beat.
"In the past, I always thought that studying abroad was a very awe-inspiring thing, and the growth and experience would be different abroad," Maria heaved a long sigh, "But now it seems that those juniors who studied locally are better than me, a graduate who studied abroad. Just today, I met a local year 3 student that was much better than me. It's really a blow to my pride."
Celeste was astonished. She frowned in disbelief and asked, "Can you let me in about the details?" "I don't have much time now to talk about the
specifics. I just want to remind you that if you have the time, go for an internship as soon as possible. Don't stay at home. Knowledge is inapplicable if there's no practical work to apply them to. It's better to read books, learn knowledge, and do an internship at the same time. It will be better," Maria explained, "I'll be studying first. You can think carefully about the internship."
Soon, Maria hung up the phone.
Celeste caught the main point of her words: an internship.
Of course, she knew how important an internship was.
It seemed that Maria had encountered something seeing as she had such a profound realization after she returned.
While Celeste was deep in thought, Gary returned.
They stayed in the hotel the entire morning and didn't go anywhere. Meanwhile, she translated a lot of the materials Flynt gave her.
The atmosphere was awkward, but at the same time, it was also a lot more cozy.
Janice didn't come to disturb, nor did she call her.
Janice was probably feeling uncomfortable because of her period, so she didn't go out nor did she ask Gary for help.
Seeing as Gary had come back, Celeste looked up and didn't say anything.
Gary also looked at her. When he saw that she was silent, he couldn't help but tease her, "Can you get up and do me a favor?"
Celeste paused for a moment, then looked up at him once more. In the end, she still stood up.
"Nevermind," Gary suddenly said.
Celeste still walked over as she was feeling a little more comfortable than before. She then reached out to take the bag in Gary's hand.
That was because Gary was indeed holding a lot of things.
"I'll help you clean up," She offered.
Gary looked down at her. Seeing that she really wanted to help him, he quickly brought everything to the coffee table.
Celeste didn't get it, so she could only walk over and sit on the sofa to help him sort it out.
She saw that he had bought a lot of snacks and various fruits, as well as some take-out for lunch.
"I need to wash my hands first," Gary turned around and went to the bathroom. After washing up, he came back and sat on the sofa with her, asking, "Are you hungry?" "Not really," Celeste shook her head. She had eaten some fruits before, so she wasn't very hungry.
"Can we go out at night?" Gary glanced at her and asked.
Celeste pursed her lips together until Gary asked about her body's condition. She didn't hide anything from him and explained, "It should be possible, but I don't want to go out."
As soon as she went out, her stomach would be uncomfortable. After all, it was the first day of her period, so she didn't feel like heading out at all.
Secondly, Gary had gotten along quite well with her for now. As long as he didn't overstep his boundaries, he would be rather considerate. Therefore, she admitted that she enjoyed the time they spent together.
"I want to drive you out to enjoy the scenery," Gary said, "You just have to sit in the car and you don't have to leave the car at all."
Celeste could tell that he was trying to strive for the best way for them to get along.
She hesitated for a moment and nodded.
Although they had yet to make up, she still had some hope towards their relationship.
After all, when they weren't quarrelling, they still got along pretty well.
However, they heard someone calling them when they arrived at the hall at seven o'clock. "Hey, Gary! Hey, Celeste."
