Gary let go of Celeste suddenly. He shot out of bed and stood up.

He looked down at her with a dark gaze, and his tone was filled with helplessness and frustration.

"Why are you crying? I have already apologized, and I promised that I wouldn't do anything to you if it makes you uncomfortable. What else do you want me to do?"

He had never put himself down to comfort someone before. All this while, he had been trying hard to suppress his emotions because of Celeste as he did not want to hurt her. However, the more he tried to comfort her, the more her tears started flowing.

Gary felt as though he was the main culprit that made her so upset. It made him feel even more defeated.

As Gary questioned her, more tears poured down Celeste's cheeks. It was as if she had been treated unfairly.

Tears were gushing down her cheeks until it covered her entire face with tears. Looking at her weary expression, Gary felt more sadness creeping up within him.

As the frustration surged from within his heart, he could feel himself growing slightly angry.

He had tried to reach out to her and hold her in his arms, but all his goodwill was rejected.

His hand froze in mid-air. After a slight pause, he laughed self-deprecatingly and took back his offer.

Celeste still did not speak.

Gary heaved a long sigh, "Forget about it then. Since you're in so much pain, I shouldn't disturb your peace. I'm going back to London."

After saying that, he went to change his clothes.

He thought that his statement would garner some sort of reaction from Celeste, be it just a simple sentence stopping him from leaving.

If he did so, he would definitely stay.

Unfortunately, she didn't.

He couldn't help but laugh and felt that he had been expecting too much.

Gary really didn't know what to do now. Maybe she really needed some alone time to calm down.

He left.

He drove back to London overnight.

The butler was very surprised to see Gary return in the middle of the night. He then laughed, "Master Gary, I'm glad that you are home. Miss Simpson is already resting." Gary merely grunted in reply before turning around to head upstairs.

He arrived upstairs. Before he could step foot into his room, he saw Janice standing barefoot at the door of a guest room right next to his. She looked sleepy, but she had a wicked smile plastered on her face. "Hey? Why did you come back in the middle of the night? Judging by your horrible facial expression, did your girlfriend kick you out?"

Gary ignored her. He gave a cold look, opened the door of his room, and walked inside.

The door slammed shut with a loud bang.

Janice shrugged and went back to her room to get some sleep.

Back at the house in Oxford, Celeste was busy bawling her eyes out until she had no more tears left.

When the car left the garage, Celeste was still crying uncontrollably, her tears heavy like torrential rain. She felt so upset that she didn't feel like going anywhere or doing anything.

The house was now empty.

Her efforts were in vain.

She was a little annoyed that she could not get over small things easily.

She could not pretend that nothing was wrong.

From Celeste's point of view, the way he treated her half-heartedly felt like he did not love her enough.

As she thought about this, she felt an unbearable pain accumulating in her chest, making her feel extremely miserable.

That night was doomed to be a sleepless one. The next day, Celeste had an excruciating headache, with no strength to do anything at all.

She did not get up to eat anything.

When her phone rang, she struggled to reach for it. Looking at the phone number, she noticed that it was a call from the house in London. She decided to pick it up.

"Miss Celeste," The butler's pleasant greetings could be heard from the other side of the phone.

"Mr. Butler," Celeste's voice sounded a little hoarse, but she tried her best to make it sound normal.

"Miss Celeste, let me tell you a secret," The butler was speaking with ample excitement, his tone full of life and joy.

"Hmm?" Celeste was a little confused. Why did the butler want to tell her a secret? "Okay, tell me." "Master Gary's girlfriend is at home," He exclaimed enthusiastically.

Celeste was stunned for a moment. Her entire body stiffened.

"Master Gary sent her here yesterday afternoon and asked me to take good care of her. The young lady is very beautiful. She has a good personality too, almost like Miss Maria. She's a bit playful and very lively. Master Gary came back in the middle of the night as well."

So Gary really went back to London.

Celeste felt like a lump of sadness was stuck in her throat.

"Oh,"

held the phone tightly, trying hard not to sound strange. She forced herself to smile, "Really?" "Yes, they seem to have a good relationship, talking and laughing with each other."

"That's good to hear," Celeste's heart felt like it had collapsed into a mess.

Even the butler thought that Janice was Gary's girlfriend. It seemed that it wasn't just her problem.

"Celeste, Master Gary rarely comes to England. This time, he even brought his girlfriend along.

You should make a trip back home since you guys haven't seen each other yet. You guys can celebrate together. Since you are all young people, there is bound to be some similar topics to talk about."

The butler was sincere.

However, Celeste was so furious that she did not know how to respond.

After a pause, she refused subtly, "Since she's Gary's girlfriend, the two of them would probably prefer to spend some alone time together. I think it would be better not to disturb them."

Celeste felt that it would be better if she didn't show up.

If she appeared, she was really afraid that she would cry because she could not control herself.

"But Miss Simpson mentioned that she would like you to come back. It's already a pity that she did not get to meet Master Ernest and Miss Maria, so she would love to meet you, Miss Celeste," The butler did not seem to notice that Celeste was already feeling very down.

"Sorry, I'm a bit busy recently," Celeste came up with an excuse, "I'll decide based on my schedule,"

In the end, she chose to say something proper to end the conversation.

"Well, Miss Celeste, you should take care of yourself. When you come home, I'll make some delicious food for you," The butler said again.

"Okay," Celeste hung up the phone quickly.

With her mobile phone in her hands, she lay down on the bed with a splitting headache. At that moment, the only thing she felt was a heartwrenching pain in her head.

She was devastated.

She got out of bed with much difficulty and stumbled into the bathroom light-headed. She looked at herself in the mirror and saw her own reflection. God, she was as pale as a ghost. The dark circles under her eyes were very obvious, and her eyes were red and swollen from all the crying. She did not look pretty at all. Instead, she looked very haggard. She was extremely upset.

Gary had gone back to the house in London in the middle of the night, and still talked and laughed with Janice.

Even the butler could tell there was something going on between the two of them. Upon recalling this, Celeste instinctively clenched her fists.

She felt like she was standing alone in a world filled with ice and snow. She could even picture the snowflakes all around her. She could not find any warmth at all.

Celeste knew that it was better to pull herself together than to continue mourning.

If she did not work hard, she would lose everything.

Celeste took a deep breath and washed her face. Then, she decided to go downstairs and look for something to eat.

She looked at the ham that Gary had fried the night before. It had already turned cold, and the ham's surface was a little wrinkled. It looked like the representation of her relationship with Gary.

She laughed at her own thoughts before she made a packet of instant noodles and ate it.

Back at the villa in London.

Gary didn't sleep much the whole night either. At ten o'clock in the morning, someone knocked on the door loudly.

He shouted impatiently, "Who is it?"

A woman's sound of protest came from the door, "Hey, you are still so grumpy after sleeping for so long. Are you angry because I disturbed you while you were in the midst of tending to your unfulfilled needs?" Upon hearing Janice's dirty joke, Gary shot coldly, "Get lost." "There's nowhere for me to go," Janice whined, "I'm bored to death. It's already ten o'clock. Why don't you get up? Let's go out and have some fun. "I'm busy."

"Open the door then," She insisted, "If you don't, I will open the door with my spare key."

Gary frowned.

After a few seconds, the doorknob rattled and the door was opened.

Gary saw Janice standing at the door. She smiled while shaking the pair of spare keys at him, then stared at him. He was still lying on the bed.

Gary wasn't wearing any clothes. He lay half-naked on the bed and covered himself with a blanket. It looked like he wasn't wearing anything underneath the covers at all.

Janice saw it and her eyes widened. She smiled cheekily and said, "You don't wear clothes when you sleep? Do you like sleeping fully naked? What a coincidence, I like doing so too."

"Get lost," Gary was already very angry. Seeing as Janice was standing right in front of him, it made him irritated as he thought about the misunderstanding with Celeste. He was not being nice to Janice at all, nor did he have the patience to do so.

Janice looked at his irritated expression and shrugged. Then, she crossed her arms in front of her chest and continued to stand at the door. She did not say anything, and she did not look angry at all. Instead, she grinned at him, as if she was looking at a child who was throwing a tantrum.

Gary became even more agitated after being stared at. He frowned, "Please leave, and close the door behind you."

He didn't want to go out at all, nor did he feel like talking to her.

He was very annoyed and frustrated, and his anger was a huge burning flame within him.

"Something's bothering you," Janice deduced, "It looks like it's not a small matter. You've become so irritable that you've lost your rationality. You're acting completely different from the Gary I knew in Boston."
