True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1383
The butler did not know the true relationship between Celeste and Gary. When he heard that Gary was going to bring a girl back home, he immediately assumed that the girl was Gary's girlfriend. "No," Gary frowned and quickly stopped the butler from making wild guesses, "Stop talking nonsense."
"She isn't?" The butler said with a hearty laugh, "Master Gary, I understand now. She's not your girlfriend, just a friend who is a girl."
Although the butler said that he understood, his heart wasn't thinking the same way.
Since Master Gary was willing to bring a girl back home, his relationship with this girl must be extraordinary.
Hearing the butler's perfunctory tone and his shady tone, Gary's brows furrowed even more.
He glanced at Janice, who was sitting next to him.
Janice was also looking at him.
She bit her lips while fluttering her big eyes. She had put on bright, cherry red lipstick today, making her lips seem unnaturally scarlet.
Gary was a little shocked by her lip colour when he saw her at the police station. He thought that her lips were so red it could scare people away. Back then, he had teased her, "You're not Janice. Aren't you a vampire?"
Janice saw him and started bursting into tears after she heard him tease her. She hugged Gary tightly, as though he were her savior. At that moment, she looked so pitiful.
"Alright," The butler didn't seem to care anymore and continued to ask, "Master Gary, should we let this young lady stay in the room that used to be yours?"
Gary was stunned for a moment. Before he could say anything, the butler added, "Master Gary, are you guys staying together in the same room? Or are you staying separately?"
"No," Gary refuted lividly, "Arrange a new one for her. Mr. Butler, is there something wrong with your ears? Do not mess it up."
"Sure!" The butler replied immediately.
Secretly, he was amused that Gary sounded flustered.
"Get another room for her. Aren't there a lot of empty rooms in the house? Do not simply touch rooms that already belong to other people. Just allocate the guest rooms that are empty," Gary instructed once again.
"Sure, Master Gary. I'll arrange a new room for her," The butler quickly hung up the phone and went to clean up the guest room.
As soon as Janice saw Gary hung up the phone, she looked at him with a grin, "Your butler is so funny."
"Why do you say that?" Gary glanced at her and asked, "What did you hear?"
"Your butler actually misunderstood that I was your girlfriend," Janice laughed playfully at him, "He's too funny! Doesn't he know that you have a girlfriend?"
Gary glanced at her in silence after hearing her statement. He did not say anything.
"It seems like he doesn't know," Janice shrugged, "Hey, by the way, why didn't you bring your girlfriend along?"
"She had something to do today," Gary answered.
"Oh," Janice curled her lips and said regretfully, "Too bad. I didn't get a chance to see your girlfriend. I would really like to meet her someday."
Gary did not feel like talking to Janice, so he drove quickly back to the villa.
As soon as they entered the villa, Janice was amazed at how the surrounding felt very peaceful and quiet. It was as if everything here was slowpaced, unlike the hustle and bustle in the city. "This place is really nice," Janice sighed, "Hey, are you living here now?"
"No," Gary grunted.
"Your girlfriend doesn't live here too?"
"Exactly."
"What about your younger brother and cousin?" Janice asked again.
"They've gone back home."
"Does that mean I will be alone?"
"There will be a butler, servants and a driver," Gary explained calmly, "You won't be alone. There will be plenty of food for you, and you also get a place to stay. Shouldn't you be satisfied?" Despite his words, Janice still looked at him and complained sadly, "You are leaving me here alone, while you go off to enjoy life and spend time with your girlfriend?
"Yes!" Gary snapped, "You've already disturbed me for a very long time today. What else do you want from me?"
"I want you guys to take me along and show me around," Janice insisted, "I haven't enjoyed myself enough here. Let's hang out together, it would be
so much fun!" "I am not available."
"Will your girlfriend be free?"
"She won't be free either."
"It would be so boring for me to stay here alone."
"Then forget about it," Gary said coldly, "I'm telling you, I only took you in for the sake of Lowell. If you don't want to stay here, you can always say no." "Okay, okay! I'll stay here, alright?" Janice rolled her eyes and pouted grumpily while glaring at Gary, "You're really heartless,"
"There's no need for me to be too nice to you," Gary did not even try to be polite. He was already very nice and patient towards her all day long. Janice pursed her lips and said reluctantly, "Fine, I actually have to thank you for taking me in. Otherwise, I'll still be living on the streets now."
"It's good that you know," Gary did not say much. He just wanted to send Janice to the villa and consider his job done.
After getting out of the car, the butler came to welcome them.
"Master Gary, welcome back," The butler greeted him first and saw a beautiful girl next to him. He welcomed her brightly, and told Gary, "Master Gary, I've arranged for this guest to stay in the room next to yours on the third floor." "Okay. It is now your responsibility to take care of her," Gary handed Janice over to the butler and was ready to leave.
The butler was stunned and exclaimed, "Master Gary, aren't you staying here too?"
"No," Gary added, "You're in charge of taking care of her. Just give her some food and make sure she doesn't die."
The butler was bewildered for a moment. Gary was being too careless for bringing his girlfriend over but refusing to stay. Was it because he was feeling embarrassed?
Gary was about to leave immediately when he suddenly thought of something. He stopped in his tracks, took out a card from his pocket and tossed it towards Janice.
"Take it. The password is the last six digits of my number."
"There's money inside?" Janice smirked.
"Yes, but not a huge amount. You can use it first. Remember to return it to me when you get back to Boston," Gary was serious, "That includes the amount of money you've spent." "Okay," Janice immediately kept the card in her pockets and chuckled, "I'll give it back to you as soon as I get back to Boston, plus the interest too.
Are you happy now?" "Forget about the interest," Gary said, "For Lowell's sake, I won't accept your interest."
"Then should I say thank you to Lowell too?" Janice glanced at Gary, "You always do things for his sake. Why can't you help me just for me?"
"If it was because of you alone, do you think I would have even cared about you?" Gary replied without hesitation.
Janice was stunned for a moment. She then rolled her eyes at him, pulled a face, and grabbed her own luggage unwillingly.
As soon as she turned around and saw the butler, she immediately smiled, "Hello, sorry to bother you for the next few days. My name is Janice Simpson. You can call me Janice."
Seeing how naturally the girl behaved, the butler was not sure whether she was Gary's girlfriend. He hurriedly replied, "Don't worry about it, Miss Simpson."
Meanwhile, Gary could not be bothered about what Janice and the butler were talking about. He had already driven away.
The butler watched the small squabble unfold before him and was confused. What on earth was going on?
It was indeed very hard to figure out Gary's thoughts.
Was Janice Gary's girlfriend?
No matter what, this was a young lady that Gary had brought back, so they had to take care of her carefully. Who knew what kind of relationship they had? Nothing would go wrong if they took care of her properly.
Gary left after dropping off Janice. When he returned to Oxford, two hours had already passed.
He drove his car into the garage.
Celeste heard the sound of the gate opening. She walked out from the study, stood by the door, and looked in the direction of the garage.
As Gary was walking in from the door, he looked up and saw Celeste standing there looking at him.
He immediately smiled and walked towards her. Without saying a word, he reached out and hugged Celeste first.
They gave each other a very warm embrace.
Celeste took a deep breath in his arms, but she instantly caught the whiff of an unfamiliar fragrance. It was a very light scent coming from his clothes. The scent did not belong to Gary.
The aroma resembled perfume used by girls. It had a light scent, and Celeste recognized this familiar smell from back when she was living in the dormitory. Her heart dropped and she felt a little uncomfortable. Her body stiffened in an instant.
"I'm sorry, Celeste," Gary apologized. His lips grazed past her ear and he kissed her earlobe, "I couldn't keep you company today,"
However, Celeste did not say anything.
She looked up from Gary's arms and saw a red mark on his shirt. It belonged to someone's lipstick.
The red marks felt like thorns pricking her heart.
When Celeste saw it, she suddenly felt hurt.
