True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1373
"So what?" Gary's heart ached when he saw Celeste's awkward expression. He felt very uncomfortable seeing as Maria had teased Celeste.
He frowned, "Maria is simply jealous. If she wants to be overheard like us, she must have a man who is willing to do it with her first."
Celeste was embarrassed and gasped, "Oh dear, how can you talk about Maria like that?"
"She's the one who started it," Gary didn't feel the slightest bit embarrassed, "If she has the guts to tease you, then she needs to have the guts to accept my counterattack."
Maria had decided to tease both him and Celeste early in the morning. It would be logical for him to retort.
"Don't say that about Maria," Celeste could not help but speak up for Maria, "She doesn't have any bad intentions. She always speaks praises about you in front of me. She has been helping us for four years. I didn't understand before, but later I found out that she really helped you."
Gary tilted his head to one side and looked at her, his eyes sparkling as he commented, "I'm such an outstanding man. Do I need someone to put in a good word for me?"
Celeste opened her mouth, but she didn't know how to reply.
It was rare for a person to be so confident.
She pursed her lips and didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"Could it be that you like me because Maria spoke up for me?" Gary glanced at Celeste again. It was obvious that he was displeased with her silence.
"Of course not."
She was not a shallow person.
"Oh," Upon hearing Celeste's explanation, a hint of amusement appeared in Gary's eyes as he chuckled, "Then what do you like about me?"
Celeste was stunned by his question. She froze.
What did she like about him?
She asked herself.
She liked his dominance, his intelligence, his aggressiveness, his understanding... basically everything about him.
Such a feeling was amazing.
However, what really started it all was probably the kiss he gave her when he left the country at 16. Undoubtedly, the kiss he gave her had opened the door to her heart.
"Is it really that hard to answer?" Seeing that she didn't speak, Gary grew impatient and grumbled, "You're thinking for such a long time."
"No, I just like you," Celeste glanced at him and said coyly, "Do I need a reason to like someone?"
Gary was startled. He thought about what Celeste said and nodded.
"That's right. You don't need a reason. But are you interested in me?"
"Of course I'm interested," Celeste said, "Would my heart beat faster every time I saw you if I wasn't interested?"
Celeste felt slightly out-of-place after saying that. Gary, on the other hand, looked very happy.
"It's good that you're interested in me," He seemed to be very satisfied as he looked thrilled.
Celeste looked at him and remembered what Maria had said.
"By the way, Maria and Ernest said that they're going back next week. She asked if I wanted to go home with them," Celeste looked at Gary. In fact, she also wanted to seek Gary's advice and ask him if he wanted to go back.
For the past four years, she had been adhering to the duty of a foster daughter and did not waste a penny.
She had not used up the money given to her by Grace. As for the money in her account, she didn't spend much except for the basic needs.
She did not return because she had to study and participate in some clubs. More importantly, she wanted to save money.
Grace would come to England with Heinz a few times every year, so she often saw them and did not go back.
However, this year, she graduated.
It was Gary's first time coming to England. She wanted to ask him about his opinion.
"Do you want to go back?" Gary turned to look at her.
Celeste was startled. After thinking for a moment, she said to Gary, "Of course I want to go home. It's just that I didn't plan to before. Furthermore, you came here on a surprise visit. I also need to carry out some activities with my professor and make preparations for my Ph.D."
"Then we won't go back," Gary was firm, "I wasn't planning to go home either. If they leave, we'll finally be alone." "It's ok if I don't go back, but isn't it inappropriate if you don't?" Celeste believed that Grace missed him badly.
"What's the point of me going back?" Gary felt rather uncomfortable when he heard Celeste's words. Even more so, he pitied her and her strong front.
"What I'm trying to say is that Aunt Smith will miss you," Celeste explained.
"She'll miss you too," Gary glanced at her, muttering, "If I go back but you don't, she'll really be sad."
Celeste suddenly realized that she didn't think that far.
She looked at Gary and suggested, "If that's the case, why don't we go back during winter break? What do you think?"
She wanted to make preparations for their trip now. If they were both going to head home, there would be no need to arrange for activities during winter break.
Gary drove the car and remained silent for a while. Then, he replied, "Let's wait till October. I can't confirm yet."
Celeste was very surprised and asked, "What plans do you have for this coming winter break?"
"I'm not sure yet," He didn't say anything, "Let's decide when it's time."
"Ok then," Celeste nodded," I'll let Maria know that we won't be going back this time." "It's up to you."
Soon, they returned to their residence.
The moment Celeste entered the door, Gary carried her upstairs before she could say anything. Naturally, she wouldn't be able to avoid another round with him.
On the other hand, Maria and Ernest confirmed their date of return. They packed up their things, bought some gifts, and intended to go home.
On the day of their departure, Maria called Celeste.
"Celeste, our flight is tomorrow afternoon. Do you want to come back tonight and have a meal together to bid us farewell?"
Before Celeste could finish hearing what Maria said, Gary snatched her phone away. His voice sounded lazy.
"There is no need to say goodbye. When you two come back, I'll pick you up if I am still in England. This time, we won't go with you. You and Ernest have a safe journey."
"Huh? Gary? Are you representing Celeste? Don't you think you're being too overbearing? Perhaps Celeste wants to send us off!" Maria teased him on purpose. She really wanted to provoke Gary. "Why are you so shameless? She likes me, so of course she wants to be with me more," After saying that, Gary hung up the phone.
Maria held her phone and burst into laughter.
Gary really refused to waste any time.
She put down the phone and sighed. She hoped that one day in the future, she and Liam would be able to be like them. She wished that Liam would also be unwilling to leave her side. However, this was just false hope.
She had to get over it.
"Have you finished packing?" Ernest came to ask her about her situation.
"I'm done," Maria looked back at Ernest and said, "Celeste and Gary aren't coming. Let's go."
Ernest smiled emotionlessly, "You shouldn't have called them and asked. It's immoral to interfere with other people's romance."
"We're all immoral in a way," Maria shrugged and feigned ignorance, "I know, but I still thought that we should've asked them. What if they get angry if we leave without letting them know?" Ernest didn't say a word.
"Oh fine, I know. I was wrong," Maria said.
Ernest shook his head and sighed, "Maria, I told Liam that I'm coming home. He has nothing to do, so he is coming to pick us up."
