"Not really. I just lack confidence," Celeste's lips curved into a smile, "You know that feeling."

Wasn't he also not confident?

Heinz's eldest son was not confident, let alone her.

"I don't understand," Gary frowned. Was there a difference between having a lack of confidence and being insecure.

He looked at the girl in front of him and saw that she seemed to know everything. He couldn't help but frown and mutter, "Also, don't let me hear you say that I'm not confident or insecure." Celeste's eyelashes trembled. She opened her mouth but didn't say anything.

However, it was obvious that she did not approve of what he said.

Gary reminded her expressionlessly, "That's not my style."

"Okay," Celeste nodded her head immediately.

Gary looked at her again. He didn't know how she could tell that he wasn't confident.

"It is best that you remember," Gary added, as though reminding her.

"I will," Celeste nodded, her bright eyes staring at him, "I remember."

It would be best if that was the case.

"Well then, let's go downstairs."

"What's the rush?" Gary obviously didn't want to go downstairs yet.

"But we have been here for too long."

"Are we bothering anyone else?" He shot back.

Celeste blinked. Oh well, he was the person to call the shots.

In the hall downstairs.

Ernest sat lazily on the sofa, his back leaning against the cushions. His eyes were closed, and his expression was indifferent. There seemed to be a trace of sadness masked in his eyes. When Maria went downstairs and saw this, she stood on the second step of the stairs and looked at Ernest from a distance.

It was as if he was asleep.

However, Maria knew that Ernest was awake. He was probably resting with his eyes closed. It was more likely that he was thinking about something.

Judging by her understanding of Ernest for the past couple of years, he would also act as such when he was concerned about something.

It was probably because of Celeste.

Gary, Ernest, and even Liam liked Celeste.

Maria knew that Celeste looked frail and always aroused people's desire to protect her. To be frank, she herself was also attracted to Celeste's aura. However, at the thought of the fact that Liam also liked Celeste, Maria felt a little disappointed.

Maybe she was just jealous, but she didn't hate Celeste at all.

She was still rational. She knew that this was Liam's own free will, and it had nothing to do with Celeste.

Now, when she looked at Ernest, she thought of herself.

It turned out that she was the same as Ernest. He would always look at someone, but that someone would always look at another person.

This was fate.

Thinking of Liam, Maria's chest felt heavy. Her emotions were rising in her chest, and it made it difficult for her to breathe.

She was really a failure for chasing after an idol like that.

What could she do? She couldn't blame anyone as this path was her choice.

Maria stood there for a while but still went down the stairs towards the sofa.

She knew that Ernest was not asleep. When she walked over, he even raised his eyebrows at her.

Then, Maria sat down on the sofa next to him and said nothing.

Ernest continued to close his eyes lazily.

Maria looked at him and suddenly chuckled. Her laugh was faint, but Ernest heard her.

He opened his eyes and looked at Maria. There were no emotions in his eyes. He was very calm and had no intentions to ask or to say anything. He just took a look at her blankly.

Maria knew what he was thinking, and she could understand him.

She broke the silence.

Looking at Ernest, Maria asked, "I heard Celeste just came back. Did you meet her?"

"Yes," Ernest replied indifferently. He didn't say anything else.

Maria settled down and looked in the direction of the stairs. A while later, she brought up, "There's no one in the house. Is she in the guest room on the third floor?" "Probably," Ernest answered calmly. Maria glanced at him again. She really wanted to applaud Ernest's composure. She wasn't even sure if he still liked Celeste now.

That was because Ernest chose a school that was different from Celeste.

From that day on, Maria felt that she could not see through him. She felt that Ernest buried his emotions like her. It was not that he didn't feel anything, but he had chosen to box and hide away all her feelings. Maria looked at him and called out, "Ernest."

Ernest glanced at her and remarked coldly, "If you have something to say, just say it. If there is nothing you'd like to tell me, go upstairs and don't disturb my meditation."

He closed his eyes as he said that. It seemed that meditating was the most important thing for him and no one was allowed to disturb him.

"Ernest, what are you thinking about?" Maria was still talking, "Let's chat for a while."

Ernest didn't even open his eyes. He said indifferently, "What do you want to talk about?"

Maria smiled and insisted, "Let's chat."

"I have nothing to say." Ernest's tone was calm. Maria didn't even know he was angry or just composed.

Thus, she rolled her eyes at him, "Ernest, you're not very kind. How will you be able to attract girls if you act like this?"

Then, Ernest opened his eyes and glanced at Maria coldly. There was no emotion in his eyes as he shot back, "If a girl like you likes me, I'd rather not."

Maria was a little confused, and her mind was in a panic at that moment. Was she that unpleasant to be with?

Maybe that was why Liam also liked Celeste.

She smiled self-deprecatingly and did not refute him. She agreed with Ernest's statement, "Maybe you are right. The person who is disgusting is me. The most terrible thing is that I don't even know it myself, and I am always so self-righteous."

After Ernest heard this, he paused slightly and looked at Maria's pale face which had a bitter smile on it.

He frowned slightly. She was not the type who would say things like that. Was she actually reflecting on herself?

Instinct told him that something had happened to Maria.

"What's wrong with you?" Ernest asked, "What happened?" "Nothing," Maria immediately shook her head,

"What could happen to me anyways?"

Ernest's brows knitted together and his eyes grew livid. He shot back, "Since there's nothing, then just go upstairs."

He didn't like wasting time with people who weren't honest with him.

Maria saw that Ernest was becoming impatient.

She immediately got up and said, "I have nothing else to do here. I'm just looking for Celeste. Celeste is back and Gary is here too. The four of us can have dinner together to celebrate our reunion." Ernest glanced at Maria and said, "The butler has cooked more food. We should celebrate tonight."

"Well, do you think that they might be together now?" Maria looked into Ernest's eyes.

In fact, she said this as a reminder to Ernest. She was worried that Ernest would be heartbroken.

"Gary told me earlier," Ernest said lightly.

"You already know?" Maria was really shocked by Ernest's words.

"Yeah," Ernest nodded, "I knew. They got together the very first day Gary returned."

Maria was tongue-tied.

"So, it's very likely that Celeste will be your future cousin-in-law."
