True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1287
"What?"
Celeste was shocked by Cindy's words.
Her eyes widened as she stared at Cindy, dumbfounded and lost for words. She did not expect Cindy to take the initiative and ask for Gary's number.
All of a sudden, she was frightened.
How could she not be afraid?
Given Cindy and Gary's temperaments, as long as they were talking to each other, they would definitely have a very unpleasant talk.
No, that couldn't happen.
She couldn't allow her aunt to call Gary. She didn't want her aunt to find out about her relationship with Gary.
They had just argued this morning, so she didn't know how to face him.
She was worried that Gary would say something unpleasant and that Cindy would say something unsuitable. All in all, stopping them was the next best thing.
"Aunt, you can't call him," Celeste shook her head and quickly came up with a random excuse, "You have no reason to."
"And he has a reason to call Liam?" Cindy shot back.
"He's Liam's friend," Celeste tried to argue, "It's normal forthem to call each other."
Seeing that Celeste was trying to stop her, Liam quickly interjected, "Miss White, I'm friends with Gary and Ernest. They are classmates of Celeste, so it's normal for him to call me and ask about her. I don't think it's a big deal. However, if you call him, it'll be a bit abrupt."
Cindy knitted her brows and ignored Liam's words. She shot a sharp glare at Celeste.
"Celeste, why are you so nervous?"
Upon hearing Cindy's words, Celeste bit her lips and looked up at Cindy stubbornly without saying a word.
"Or do you think that I'm rude? I have been in the entertainment industry for so many years, so do you think I'm unaware of the art of speaking?" As she said this, Cindy swept her gaze of dissatisfaction towards Liam since he was helping Celeste.
Upon seeing this, Liam was also slightly stunned. He quickly tried to laugh it off, "Miss White, we all know you're skilled, but let's not make a big fuss over it."
"Liam, do you really think I shouldn't make the call?" Cindy looked at Liam and asked, "Or are you just helping Celeste?"
Liam didn't expect Cindy to be so sharp. He quickly smiled, "Miss White, I really don't think it's a good idea to make a phone call so rashly. If you're worried, I'll talk to Gary about it."
"Celeste won't call him, yet she doesn't let me call him," Cindy's red lips curled up and she snorted softly, "Don't you think it's strange?"
Of course, Liam could sense that it was strange, but he could tell that something must have happened to Celeste since she looked so embarrassed.
In any case, Cindy shouldn't have forced the truth out of Celeste like this.
After all, Celeste was only a sixteen-year-old.
Liam didn't dare to say anything, so he played dumb, "Ms. White, Celeste is still young, so it's natural for her to feel afraid and worried about the news. After all, it still hasn't died down yet. You want her to call him, but she probably feels embarrassed to not do so."
Cindy looked at Liam for a while and glanced at Celeste. She didn't say anything to them. She picked up the sandwich that she threw on the plate and continued to eat.
The fact that Cindy had calmed down instantaneously made Celeste a little scared.
As expected, Cindy was the queen of acting. To be able to change her mood as she pleased meant that acting had become an integral part of her life.
Liam pushed the milk in front of Cindy and offered, "Miss White, if you don't drink the milk soon, it'll be cold."
"Alright, then I won't call Gary," Cindy said, "Liam, I believe in your judgment."
"Okay," Liam smiled.
Celeste looked up at Cindy and secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, she didn't call him.
If Cindy called, she really wouldn't know what to do.
Ten minutes later.
After Cindy finished her meal, she turned to Celeste and said, "Have you finished? I'll have someone bring you to the hairstylist after you finish."
"I can go by myself," Celeste said in a squeaky voice.
"What if someone finds you out when you go by yourself?"
"The chance of me being discovered is higher if you come along," Celeste said, "Both you and Liam are public figures, so I think it's more dangerous to be with you in public." Cindy didn't waste any time talking to her. She simply stood up and walked to the door.
Celeste frowned and glanced at Liam subconsciously.
She was trying to ask Liam for help.
Liam paused for a moment and asked, "Miss White, why don't you let the hairstylist come to my house?"
"No," Cindy shook her head and refused, "The hairstylist is not safe either. Who knows what kind of person they'll be? What if he betrays you for money?"
It was not impossible for such a thing to happen.
Liam glanced at Celeste helplessly.
Celeste could only sigh in resignation.
Then, she followed Cindy to the door.
Cindy had put on a pair of sunglasses, which made her look elegant and sophisticated.
Celeste had no choice but to go out with her.
Downstairs, Celeste found that Cindy was planning to drive a new car. It was different from the car that she took when she arrived. The driver was also a completely different person from before. After Cindy got in the car, she said in English, "Don't think I'm unaware that something is fishy between you and Gary. Something must have happened between you and him. Otherwise, you wouldn't be so nervous."
Cindy knew Celeste and her temper. She was interested in studying and read books most of the time.
But it had changed all of a sudden.
It was different the moment she changed her mind to study in London.
Now, Cindy was just unsure of the reason for her change.
What role did Heinz's eldest son play in her change?
Celeste didn't expect her aunt to bring it up again when she got in the car.
"Liam also helped you out. It seems that even though you've just met each other, you two have a good relationship already," Cindy glanced at her and said dismissively, "I'm telling you that Liam is not suitable for you. Don't have any ideas about him. You don't have a strong heart, so you can't be his other half since he is working in the entertainment industry."
"I don't," Celeste hurriedly explained, "I've never thought of Liam in that way."
She couldn't say anything anymore. She only felt embarrassed.
Her aunt's words were too straightforward.
"What about Gary?" Cindy looked at her deeply and asked once again.
With racing thoughts, Celeste looked at Cindy in shock. With shame and anger flashing in her eyes, she blurted, "No."
Cindy laughed as if she was listening to a joke.
She turned her eyes to the car window, her gaze dim as she said, "If you really like Heinz's son, you need to have a strong heart. You're the only one who's clear if what you said is true or not. Just remember that as a girl, you must never take the initiative. If you do so, you're only abandoning your own identity and depreciating your own value."
"No matter how much you like the boy, you don't have to do anything that lowers your value. That's not being brave."
"You may be sacrificing your pride, but it might be nothing for the other party."
"In particular, frivolous women will make people think that they are cheap and worthless. Don't throw yourself onto him no matter how much you love him."
Celeste was shocked.
Was her aunt really the one who said these?
She stared blankly at her aunt, who had been looking out of the window. Cindy was wearing sunglasses, so Celeste couldn't see her expression. However, she could see that Cindy was very lonely at that
moment.
She seemed to be immersed in an unspeakable sadness and regret. That regret seemed to accompany her for many years.
Celeste was very shocked.
It was strange for her to see her aunt behaving like this.
Celeste fell silent.
The atmosphere in the car was awkward.
In the quiet atmosphere, Celeste could only nod and say yes.
She had a feeling that her aunt had loved a person deeply before. That was why she had such a profound understanding of love.
"I am strict with you because I have a lot of expectations for you," Cindy changed her tone and became a little gentler, "I hope you can be free from the temptation of love."
"Aunt, I know now."
Perhaps because of Cindy's lonely appearance, Celeste felt sorry for her. Hence, she obediently agreed, "I'll keep it in my heart."
"No matter how handsome a man is, if he doesn't love you, never look back. Don't tell him even if you have a crush on him," Cindy advised again, "You are still young. Don't think too deeply about love." "Okay," Celeste nodded.
It was strange.
Her aunt was acting really weird.
Cindy looked out of the window and froze in place.
Celeste took a deep breath and asked, "Aunt, are you ok?"
Cindy paused. She turned around and glanced at Celeste. Her gaze was fixed on Celeste's face and she couldn't help but frown.
"Go study. You are intelligent and knowledgeable, just as all women should be," Cindy said with a sigh.
Celeste noticed that her aunt would frown every time she looked at her, but the words she said seemed to be caring.
She believed that her aunt loved her and hated her at the same time.
