Gary narrowed his eyes, his anger overflowing from his pupils. He then chuckled and mocked lightly, "You're indeed too naive. You're ridiculously naive. You're a fool. Celeste, you're a fool."

All of a sudden, Celeste's mind started to spiral down into confusion.

She didn't know what had happened.

"Yes, I admit that sometimes, I can't understand what is going on in your mind. I'm just here to ask, are you willing to follow me and Ernest to study abroad?" Celeste suddenly found the courage to question Gary back. She was initially afraid of him but out of the blue, she was bold enough to shoot back at him.

Gary lowered his gaze, her stubborn face still reflected in his pupils. Her back was straight but stiff, and her fragile shoulders were collapsing from the pressure he had caused to her. However, she looked gorgeously determined.

Her slender neck and small, round face made her look even more delicate.

The next second, he raised his hand and reached out to her.

Celeste was taken aback and stepped back subconsciously.

Gary's hand was suspended in mid- air and he froze.

His taut skin and cleanly-cut fingernails indicated that he was clean and healthy. With long, bony fingers and distinct joints, his hand looked like a work of art.

He looked extremely stylish with that handsome face of his.

However, his hand was suspended mid-air and he did not retract it. He just stared at her for a good few seconds before lowering his arm.

Celeste swallowed a mouthful of saliva and asked, "Will you promise me?"

Gary smiled and answered, "Celeste, what if I refuse to?"

"Then, then I'll go to England with Ernest," She blurted out.

Gary's pupils dilated once again, and then he started laughing out loud. However, his laughter sounded extremely lonely.

He placed his hands into his pocket, looking extremely calm on the surface. However, no one knew how his fists were tightened in his pockets. Then, Gary turned around and left.

He didn't look at Celeste again.

"Gary, you said to wait for you after school. I'll be waiting for you so we can talk about it," Celeste called after him.

However, Gary didn't answer her.

Celeste had a hunch that he was not going to show up.

As expected.

An hour later.

After school ended.

The students in the laboratory were having extra classes.

Meanwhile, Gary had already packed up his bag and left.

Since they were already the batch of students who were going abroad, his teacher wasn't planning to force him to follow the school rules.

Gary stood up. He swung his bag over his shoulder and left.

Just then, Celeste also got up and packed up her things.

She was still determined to persuade Gary for the sake of their friendship.

However, by the time she finished packing, Gary was nowhere to be seen.

She called him, but his phone was switched off.

After that, she went to the school gate to look for him, but he was nowhere to be seen.

At the gate, she felt slightly depressed.

She turned around and saw Ernest's handsome face. There was still a smile on his face.

It seemed that Ernest had expected this to happen.

"My brother didn't agree, did he?" Ernest asked with a wry smile.

Celeste nodded and sighed dejectedly, "Why is your brother so lonely?"

"Lonely?" A look of surprise flashed across Ernest's calm face. He then nodded and answered, "That's a unique choice of words. It's too weird to use it on my brother."

"Am I wrong?" Celeste didn't know that she sounded displeased, "Don't you think he always likes to be alone?"

"A little bit," Ernest nodded, "He's just too smart. Sometimes, he just doesn't know how to get along with others."

"Yes, that's the perfect phrase to describe him. Why is he so hard to talk to?" Celeste couldn't help complaining.

"Well," Ernest couldn't help but suppress his laughter. Celeste White was really naive when it came to love and romance. Couldn't she see how Gary had avoided talking to all the girls except for her and Maria? Maria was his cousin. Even if he didn't want to talk to her, he had to.

But in Celeste's case, it was a little different.

Sigh.

Ernest looked at her with a trace of helplessness in his eyes.

Instead, Celeste comforted him, "Don't worry, Ernest. I'll go to England with you. Your brother said that he was not willing to go with you, so I will accompany you."

"What?" Ernest was really frightened this time and gasped, "Are you serious?"

"Of course," Celeste nodded seriously and said, "Let's go. I'll treat you to a meal. We can plan our itinerary and check if there are any places we can visit."

Ernest blinked. Was this where everything took a drastic turn?

Just when he was just about to give up...

However, he didn't make the effort to do anything. It was all Celeste's choice.

"Initially I came out to see if Gary was here so I could try persuading him to go to England together. However, he's such a petty person that I'm pretty sure he will not agree no matter what I say. So I've decided not to pursue this matter anymore. The both of us will go together."

"You've given up?" Ernest's eyes widened, "You've given up the chance to go to the United States with my brother?"

"To me, there isn't much difference if I go to England or the United States. I just thought that I would be able to go back to my home in Canada more often if I were to go to the United States, but England isn't too far off either. In short, I wish to stay with my friends," Celeste flashed a sweet smile. That smile of hers could tell that she was more comfortable getting along with the cheerful Ernest rather than the grumpy Gary.

Therefore, it was true that it was necessary to find a friend that was easy to get along with.

She didn't want to make things too difficult for herself for the next few years.

"Do you want me to help you persuade my brother?" Ernest looked at her and asked with a smile.

Celeste's eyes lit up. There was a glimmer of hope in her eyes. She answered with much uncertainty, "Can you? I don't think your brother is an easy person to deal with. Maria said that it is impossible, and I think so too. So if I were to make a choice, I'd definitely choose you. Gary is just too cold and livid. I'm afraid I will get into a huge quarrel with him."

Ernest took a deep breath and seemed to give up on talking sense into her, "Well, this is your choice."

"Let's go. What would you like to eat?"

"It's up to you. We can go eat something you like," Ernest was a very easy-going and gentle guy.

Celeste felt that it was very pleasant to be around Ernest. At the very least, she didn't have to be on edge all the time.

Ernest wasn't like Gary. Gary had a mysterious temper, and her heart would always beat wildly around him. She was worried that she would get a heart attack from just being around him.

At the same time, Celeste couldn't restrain herself from approaching the lonely young man. She had to admit that he was graceful, lazy, glamorous, yet irresistibly eye-catching.

If it was possible, she really hoped that he would be very happy.

For some reason, Celeste felt that Gary wasn't very joyful.

Though, she wasn't sure if it was just her

imagination.

All in all, she constantly had the same thoughts about him.

Therefore, Celeste couldn't help but want to be friends with him.
