True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1229
On the school campus.
A group of students could be found chatting on the sports field.
Gary's lazy figure was sprawled on the steps of the viewing platform. His long slender legs were extended to the bottom of the steps, making him look even taller.
On the lower steps, the younger brother, Ernest Jones, stared at him with a smile. "Sylvia just called me saying that Dad is exasperated."
"He's always angry," Gary said disapprovingly, "Is there anything he's not mad about?"
"That's true. Dad is a proud and pampered person. He just yells at everything and everyone," Ernest shrugged, "What should we do? Are we going to be punished when we go back tonight?" "Are you afraid?" Gary raised an eyebrow at his brother.
"I'm not afraid," Ernest scoffed, "I'm not afraid that he nags at me. I'm just afraid that he might be hurt." "There's mommy and Sylvia to comfort him," Gary was cold and indifferent.
All of a sudden, Ernest turned around and noticed a figure walking towards them. His eyes lit up and he whistled.
"She's here."
Gary was startled. He glanced over and saw the figure on the field looking in his direction.
It was a girl in a white dress and a ponytail. She had long hair and a slender neck, looking elegant and outstanding. Gary placed his elbow back on the stairs lazily to prop himself up. His gaze was burning as he stared at the girl.
His eyes lit up as he squinted his eyes and stared at her.
Ernest glanced at him and chuckled, "Okay, I'll get out of the way."
Gary ignored him.
Ernest was a sensible person. He walked along the other side of the viewing platform and after a long walk, he found the exit and left the field from the other end.
Soon, the slender figure in white strode over. The young girl had a sweet face and was extremely gorgeous.
She had an oval face, long hair, and big eyes. She was dazzling and she seemed like a quiet person. Now, she was heading straight towards Gary.
"Gary, are you ready?" She asked Gary as she walked up to him.
Gary's eyes met hers. He was lazy and did not reply immediately.
Then, the girl sat down beside him with a book in her hand.
Gary was still as lazy as ever. Only then did he speak in a faint voice, "There's nothing for me to prepare."
"If that's the case, when are we leaving?" She asked again.
Gary suddenly sat up straight and turned around to look at the young girl beside him. There was not much expression on his handsome face.
He just glanced at her from head to toe and finally, he looked straight into her eyes.
When their eyes met, the young girl avoided his gaze almost instantly.
Some time later, Gary asked, "Celeste, your mother is Cindy, correct?"
Celeste White froze in an instant. Her whole body trembled, and her long eyelashes also shuddered slightly.
The young man in front of her looked lean, and his aura was overwhelming.
Even if he was only staring at her, the look in his eyes was enough to make Celeste feel embarrassed. She pursed her lips and found it difficult to breathe.
Under Gary's intense gaze, Celeste's mind was spinning. A while later, she finally asked, "Why do you ask?"
She wasn't planning to reply to his question.
Gary gazed at her and smirked. There were too many emotions brewing in his eyes, but he was good at concealing them. It only took him a split second to hide his emotions.
Celeste's palm was sweaty. She didn't want to bring up her mother because it wasn't something she was proud of.
After all, Cindy was an actress and she had always been active in the filming industry. Thus, she had kept her identity a secret.
For the past few years, Celeste had not experienced the love and care of a mother. When they finally met, their time together was too little and they barely communicated with each other.
She saw her more often on television than in real life.
It was either that or in advertisements.
Cindy was the ambassador for many popular brands. She was still a hit even though she was in her forties. She claimed that she was currently single and not engaged.
If she wasn't discovered by the paparazzi a few years back when she flew to Canada to visit her, there wouldn't be so many rumors of her.
Celeste was aware that Cindy had never acknowledged her existence up until now.
Now, she felt unsettled because the young man in front of her had uncovered her identity so easily.
From the moment Gary asked the question, Celeste had tensed up. Now, she felt anxious.
"Is it very difficult to answer my question?" Gary once spoke again. His voice sounded calm and he didn't say much.
"Ga-Gary..." Celeste finally said something, only to find that her voice was trembling.
Gary looked up at her indifferently. It was unclear what he had in mind.
"Ho-how could I be related to an actress?" Celeste replied with a smile. Panic flashed through her eyes. She wanted to disguise it, but her trembling voice had given her out. Gary smirked. When he smirked, he appeared even lazier.
Then, he stood up. His figure was tall and built. He took two steps down to the bottom of the stairs and leaned against the railing, flashing a gentle smile at Cindy.
"Don't be so nervous. I don't intend to look into your background," He commented faintly, and his tone was still calm.
Celeste froze as she hugged the book tightly in her arms. She shot a careful look at Gary and laughed dryly, "Well, I'm also done with my preparations. Shall we leave together next week?" Now, was she trying to change the topic?
Gary shrugged and said, "Let's not."
"Aren't you coming with me?" Celeste asked in surprise, "Let's go to the United States together. It won't be that boring that way."
Gary smiled and answered, "I'm not bored."
Celeste felt a little embarrassed. She forced a stiff smile, which made it even more awkward.
Gary looked at her stiff expression and hesitated for a moment before saying, "I'm afraid there'll be paparazzi on the day we leave."
Celeste stared at him with slight astonishment.
So that was the reason.
"Let's go," Gary said indifferently, "If we were caught being alone together, I'm afraid that we are going to be trending on the internet. I'm not afraid of anything, but since you don't want to be related to an actress, you should know what to do."
Celeste froze. She immediately knew that Gary had found out everything.
In fact, she was more convinced that Gary's eyes were sharp. His gaze was sufficient to make her panic.
"Gary," Her voice was very soft as she stood up, "I'll be leaving first."
As she said that, she immediately fled and left.
Meanwhile, Gary was looking at the girl's fleeting figure.
His gaze was sharp and increasingly gloomy.
Was it because she didn't trust him that she didn't want to admit it to him?
Or did Cindy put too much pressure on her?
Her choice to flee the country was most likely to escape from the paparazzi and controversy, thus reducing any publicity pressure on Cindy. If that was the case, the relationship between the mother and daughter was probably quite close.
Gary once again shrugged. Looking at the distant figure, Gary picked up his phone and dialed a number.
Some distance away, Cindy stopped in her tracks.
She picked up the call, "Ga-Gary?"
"Wait for me after school."
"Oh, wha-what's the matter?"
