Thread of Illusion -
CHAPTER 19
Rusty POV
Fuck this. I am not waiting for her to come to her senses. I pull Davina to the edge of the bed. I gather her in my arms. "Hold on to me," I tell her softly.
I am leaving with her. This time I will leave this place. I will get her out. Fuck my brothers and this bullshit. We would be long gone from here, but she wanted to make sure Sidney was okay. Little did we know Sidney is fucking fine? I hope Sidney has no recollection of whatever Insanna is doing. She will lose her fucking mind if she has to relive those memories. I can only imagine.
Davina puts her arms around me. "Where is Reid?" she asks.
Great, she is fucking brainwashed or confused or who knows. If I can get her away from this place I can fix this for her.
I hold Davina in my arms as I make my way to the door. Insanna can deal with the others. Davina is my only concern. I hate to be that person. I hate it for them. I just cannot risk Davina's life any longer.
I peek out the door looking to see if Raymond or Reid are close by. I doubt they will let me walk out of here with her without a fight. I cannot fight them. I will have to run like hell.
No sign of either of them. I walk out into the main room. Davina wrapped tightly in my arms. Her body feels lifeless. No worries. I promise you will feel normal again.
Insanna is making her way around the room. I can see the glistening of her teeth. Yeah, I want out of here before she turns those hideous things on me. I keep my focus on Davina as Insanna makes her way around the room murdering the men responsible for this pleasure party. She is delivering justice to the women bound here.
As I get to the door with Davina there is no longer any security. The man that once was at the door lay dead by the elevator. Definitely some of Insanna's work. I have heard stories of how she slaughtered villages of men for enslaving women. I do not want to be a witness to the carnage.
"Where are you taking me? Davina asks me.
"Far away from here. Far away from Reid," I tell her.
"Why?" she asks.
"To free you from all of this," I tell her.
Davina begins to fight me. It is the flower trying to hold her here for Reid. Insanna sees us struggling. I have to be able to get her out of here. If she fights me she will just go back to him. He could take her somewhere I could not find her. Or worse to a place I cannot go. As a demi, there are places I am not allowed that Reid is.
Insanna rushes to my side. She begins to hum. The entire place falls silent to her. She hums for Davina. As Davina listens to Insanna's song she begins to come back to her senses.
Davina looks at me very confused. "Where the fuck am I?" she says.
She looks at Insanna. "Sidney?" she questions.
"Not exactly but I will give you your friend back very soon. I need you to go with Rusty for now sweetie. Can you do that for me?" she asks her.
Davina nods her head. "Yes. Please get me far away from here," Davina says.
I carry Davina to the elevator. I hit the button to go down. I can hear the screams start again as Insanna enacts her revenge on the men in the room. The door opens for us. She steps on. I hit the g button for the garage to get my car and get her out of here.
The elevator goes down with no issues. I was expecting Reid to pop out somewhere and grab her. I hope Insanna has taken him apart. He will be in the dark world soon enough.
The elevator stops in the garage. I peek out first. Davina stays behind me as I check for Reid.
"It is all clear. Come one," I tell her.
We sprint for my car. We are almost home-free. I open the door and let her into my car. She melts into the sit and begins to sob. I cannot imagine what she has been through. Hopefully, she won't remember everything. Maybe the illusion will be a memory that fades quickly.
"I have nowhere to go," she says as I get in the car with her.
I start the car. I pat her hand. "Davina I will take care of you just as you have always cared for me in my darkest hours," I tell her.
She lays her head on my shoulder as I drive us out of the garage. We cannot go to my house. I will take her somewhere. I will drive until we find it. Insanna will have to find us to deliver Sidney back to us.
"The rain stopped," she says.
I had not noticed. If the rain stopped then Raymond is dead. He is in the dark world now. Insanna took care of him.
"Yes, it has stopped," I say to her. I do not elaborate on what it means. I let that go for now. There will be plenty of time to explain or just let it go. Maybe I will never have to explain all of this. Davina sleeps as I drive as fast as I can. I want to put the Bayou Blue far behind us. To only be a thread of a memory in our minds to forget and never speak of again.
"Rusty you are too kind," she says from her slumber.
"Just sleep. We will be there soon," I say.
"Where?" she asks.
"I do not know yet, but I will know when we get there," I say.
My mind races with ideas about where to take her. My mother can help us. She can take the pain and memories away of the Bayou Blue.
