The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate -
Fated to a Fae Chapter 17
~Selenia~
I can't stop blushing. Why are they staring at me all the time?! It's like they want me to have a permanent blush on my face because I know exactly what they are thinking about. I can feel it too. Their l**t and desire. It's so strong coming from both of them. It's setting me off and driving me crazy. And they know it. Those stupid, perfect, devilish smiles on their faces tell me all I need to know.
"Are you okay? You keep shifting in your seat." Reef asks me as he sits across from me at breakfast. My face heats up as he looks at me.
"I'm fine, Reef." I say quietly.
"Don't lie to me. What's wrong?" Reef asks again and I want the floor to swallow me as Rhett chuckles beside me. I cover my face as I hear Atlas whisper to Reef.
"She's been marked by Rhett. I can only imagine what is going through her head right now. She has two Alpha mates, remember?" Atlas says.
"Oh. OH! Selenia! I need details! Two at a time?! I need to know how that works." Reef says louder than needed.
"Reef! You're so loud! Stop!" I say, my face probably as red as it feels.
"There's no one here but us. I can tell you all about us too. We'll swap stories." Reef grins at
me.
"Reef. You are a twig compared to Atlas. I can already guess what goes where when it comes to you two." I say.
"Hey. You never know. Maybe I top him." Reef says.
"No, you don't." Atlas says.
"He's right. I don't. But I could."
"No, you couldn't."
"Yeah, probably not. I like being topped too much." Reef smirks at Atlas and I suddenly feel second-hand embarrassment just from them.
"Okay! No more talking about s*x at breakfast!" I say just as more people come into the room.
"No talking about s*x? That's no fun." Max says, pouting at his mate, Ava.
"We're werewolves, s*x is a big part of us." Aubrey says as Kaden puts his arm around her.
"Plus, it's fun to do." Devin wiggles his eyebrows at me as his mate, Kai, leans his face into his neck. I look at Reef.
"What did we get ourselves into?" I laugh.
"A pack full of horny werewolves, apparently." Reef laughs with me.
"He's not wrong." Blake says, leaning into me and I blush again.
"Oh my. I need to get away from this after. I'm going to find your mother after we eat." I say.
"Not sure how that will help. Her and our dads are just as bad." Rhett chuckles.
"I need just your mom. She's helping me with something today." I tell them.
"Help? With what? Do you want us there?" Blake asks.
"No, I'll be fine. Reef is coming." I tell them and Reef smiles, knowing what this is about.
We all get our breakfast and eat while the guys talk about business. Max tells the twins he has heard there is some talk about two Fae on horseback moving around. That's usually how Sear gets around, so that worries me. The twins assure me I have nothing to worry about, but I still feel anxious. I just have this feeling that things are going to change. I just don't know if it will be for the better or for worse.
Reef and I make our way to where Mercury's office is. She has her own space for all her caster stuff. She used to practice in Silas's cabin when it used to be someone else's, another caster, but Mercury felt Silas would be more comfortable in there when he stays in the pack instead of the packhouse.
I knock and the door opens almost immediately. Mercury has her back facing us as she is looking through books.
"Hey, guys. Come on in." Mercury says without looking at us. I smile at Reef, feeling the positive aura of magic emanating from Mercury's room. It feels amazing to be in the presence of such strong magic and I know Reef feels the same.
"Hi, Mercury. How are you today?" Reef asks and Mercury turns to us, a book in her hand.
"I'm great! Excited even. I'm so glad you guys asked me for help on this. I'm finally not the only one in the pack who had to use magic instead of teeth to mark their mates." Mercury says. The happiness coming off her is so infectious, I can't help but smile. Her aura is so positive and light. I'm glad the twins had such an amazing mother raising them.
"You mentioned having to change the spell for us?" I say.
"Yes, well the spell I used pulls from the Moon Goddess. I get my powers from her and so do my mates. You two, on the other hand, pull your power from Mother Nature. Most spells are in Latin and the spells says 'moon goddess'. If it doesn't work when you perform the spell as it is, we could try changing it to say 'mother nature'. It just depends on if it works or not." Mercury explains.
"I see. That makes sense. But it could work since our mates are born of Moon Goddess magic?" Reef asks.
"Yes. It's trial and error, essentially." Mercury tells us. I nod and look at the book she has. She sees me looking and opens it to a marked page. She turns the book and hands it to me. "That's the spell right there. It's permanent too. Not even Silas can remove it, which means it's more permanent than the mark our werewolves give us."
"Silas can remove werewolf marks?" Reef asks.
"Yes he can. Hide them, remove them, place ones that were never there in the first place. All apart of his magic." Mercury tells us.
"That's crazy. Warlock and caster magic is so powerful." I say.
"I'm nowhere near as powerful as Silas, but I'm powerful for a caster." Mercury says.
"Still impressive." I say.
"Thank you." Mercury smiles. "You can take the book and practice the spell. Just make sure not to direct it at anyone until you are ready. Don't want to accidentally mark someone. Like I said,
it's permanent." Mercury tells us.
"That would be bad." Reef laughs and I nod.
"Thank you for the book. We'll bring it back when we are done." I tell her.
"No rush. We're family now. Borrow anything you want anytime." Mercury says and I smile. Family. Haven't had that since my parents died. Reef is the closest thing to family I've had. Now I have the twins and their giant, crazy family.
Reef and I take the book and we leave Mercury's office. We decide to head outside to practice because our magic is strongest around the earth. When we find a nice place in the grass, my hand touches the ground and I feel the energy from my element flow through me. Reef does the same and we smile at each other.
"I haven't practiced since we got here." Reef admits.
"I've only done it once. When I showed Blake my magic." I tell him.
"What about Rhett?" Reef asks.
"He hasn't seen. He was cursed when I showed Blake and then he was in the hospital. Last night was his first time out and he had other plans." I laugh a little and Reef smirks. "Other plans as in claiming what's his. I get it. Atlas wasted no time marking me. He did it as soon as we got here." Reef says.
"Blake waited so long because he thought I wanted to wait. As soon as I found that out, I told him to mark me and he jumped right at the opportunity." I say.
"They get very excited about marking. It's definitely a territorial thing. Atlas gets so jealous
when other people are around me." Reef says.
"Blake is like that too. I'm sure Rhett is just as bad." I laugh.
"Alright. Let's look at this spell. Is it hard? We don't really do spells." Reef says, looking at the book. I open it back up to the page Mercury marked and I look at the words.
"Lunam deam coeuntes marcam." I read the words quietly.
"Yeah, that's definitely Latin." Reef says, looking down at the spell. I hand him the book and he
mutters the words softly, careful not to trigger the spell. Don't want to mark someone by
accident, like Mercury said.
"Seems easy enough. I expected it to be long and winded." Reef says.
"So did I. I wonder what it means." I say.
"Moon Goddess mating mark." A voice says behind me and I turn to look. Silas walks up and
sits with us in the grass.
"Hello Silas." I say and he nods to us.
"You speak Latin?" Reef asks.
"Of course." Silas says. "It's my first language."
"Wait, what?" I say and Silas laughs.
"I'm joking. Latin died almost 3000 years ago. I'm not that old. But it is a language I know well,
as most spells are in Latin." Silas says. And I nod.
"That makes more sense. So what is your first language? You do have a slight accent." I say.
"Romanian. I was born in Moldova. I learned English was I was about 8 years old. In my teens, I
learned Latin, French, Greek, and Russian." Silas tells us.
"Amazing. Is it easy for you to learn languages?" I ask.
"English was the hardest. But after you know English and Latin, everything comes easier." Silas
says. "Why is English hard?" Reef asks.
"When it's your first language, it seems easy. But there are words that sound the same but are spelt differently and words that are spelt the same and sound different. And some people name their kids weird names that have a hidden meaning. Or after something they like. Did you know there's something called a coral reef? That's what I think of when I hear your name." Silas points to Reef and Reef laughs.
"I know. You'd think my parents would name me after something earthy, since I'm an Earth Fae. But my mom is a Water Fae and she named me after something in the ocean." Reef tells him.
"Your name has a meaning, too." Silas says to me.
"It does?" I ask and Silas nods.
"Selenia comes from the name Selene. In Greek, Selene means "goddess of the moon'. Quite
fitting for a woman mated to werewolves." Silas says.
"Seriously? I didn't know that. I wonder if my parents knew that." I say.
"It's possible they didn't. Selenia is a beautiful name, regardless of origin." Silas says.
"Thank you." I say, blushing.
"You're most welcome." Silas says.
The next little while, Silas helps Reef and I with the pronunciation of the spell. When he is
satisfied with our improvement, he says his goodbye and leaves to go back to his cabin. Reef and I just sit and talk a little while longer. It feels like we've been so occupied with other things since we got here that we haven't made time for each other. I miss him. I miss just being in nature with him without any worries. Before long, our mates find us and tell us it's lunch time. Time seems to be flying. I collect the spell book and we go with them, smiling up at my beautiful mates. I miss my old life, but I wouldn't want to go back. This is where I belong. I know it. I just wish I should shake this feeling of something that's coming. The more I feel it, the more I feel it's not good. Not friendly. And it's coming right for me.
