Fated to a Fae Chapter 11

Everything is totally screwed. She's not going to want to stay with me now after what Rhett did to her. I just know it. Why would she? I feel sick knowing she could leave me. I don't want her to leave.

I watch Amanda take care of Selenia's wrists. She carefully bandages them. Selenia keeps looking over at me, but I can't look her in eyes. I don't want to see fear in her eyes like I did when she ran into my arms back at the packhouse.

"Alright, you are all done. Nothing too serious, just some bruising. Keep the bandages on for a few days. It should go away completely in about a week or two." Amanda tells Selenia. Selenia nods and climbs off the bed.

"Thank you, Amanda. I appreciate it. Can we go see Reef now?" Selenia asks.

"I can see if he's out of surgery yet. I'll be back." Amanda leaves the room. Selenia watches after her before turning to me.

"Okay. This isn't happening. Did you forget I can feel the emotions rolling off you in waves? Why do you feel scared and guilty?" Selenia asks me. Crap, I forgot she can feel everything I do. I sigh and look at her. She looks hurt, but not because of what just happened. She looks hurt because of me. That makes me feel even more guilty.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left you alone." I say quietly.

"Blake. I'm not a child. In fact, I'm older than you. I'm perfectly capable of being alone in the packhouse. This isn't your fault." Selenia says.

"You're right. This is Rhett's fault. I have no idea what the hell is wrong with him. Attacking you and Reef like that? He's never done anything like this before. He's always been the joker of the two of us. He's not aggressive at all. He's laid back and go with the flow. I'm the protective one. He died for two days and when he woke up, you know what he said when we told him he was dead? The guy said 'Cool'. He really said that. Who is so nonchalant about that kind of thing? Seriously, he's not like this." I say to her.

"This isn't his fault either." Selenia says.

"How is this not his fault? He did this all on his own."

"I don't think that's true. There's something off with him. I felt it. It was like two different emotions were going through him. His true feelings and the ones he felt like he was supposed to feel." Selenia says. I turn to her.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"I don't think Rhett is okay. I think something was done to him. I was almost like Rhett was fighting something. I could feel anger, jealousy, bitterness coming from him and it would quickly switch to hurt, sadness, betrayal and guilt. And then back again. It was like something was making him feel the strong negative emotions and when his true feelings surfaced, something would push them down to keep him angry and aggressive. And when he felt threatened by Reef, he reacted without thinking. The angry side, not the hurt side." Selenia explains. I take a step back and drop into the chair behind me.

"Holy s**t. Someone made him this way? Why would someone do that?" I say quietly. Selenia steps closer to me.

"I don't know. I'm sure there are many reasons someone would want to control the Alpha's younger brother. What I do know is that this is not your fault or Rhett's fault." Selenia says before placing her hands on my face. "And I'm not leaving."

I furrow my brows. "How did you-"

"I can feel you're scared and worried. I assume that's because you thought this would scare me away and make me leave." Selenia says. I let out a breath.

"Yeah, I thought you wouldn't want to stay after that. I don't even know what he really did to you. I'm not sure I want to know. I might just go kill him, even knowing he wasn't at fault." I say.

"All he did was corner me and forcefully kiss me. That was when Reef walked in." Selenia says. I squeeze my fists, making my knuckles go white. That may be all he did, but who knows what he would've done had Reef not shown up. Selenia pulls my head to her chest, my ear right above her heart so that I can hear her heartbeat. I close my eyes as the feeling relaxes me. I wrap my arms around her thighs and pull her closer to me.

"I love you." I whisper, a tear running down my cheek. This is the first time I've said that to her. I feel Selenia suck in a breath before she moves so that I'm now looking at her.

"I love you. And I'm not leaving you." Selenia whispers back. My heart swells knowing she loves me too.

"Ever?" I say quietly.

"Never ever." Selenia says. I smile and pull her into my lap to kiss her gently. We're interrupted a moment later by Amanda knocking on the door.

"Reef is out of surgery and in a recovery room. Atlas is with him. I can take you there now." Amanda says. Selenia and I get up from the chair and I take her hand in mine as Amanda leads us from the room. We head down a few halls before she stops in front of recovery room D. She motions for us to go in and I thank her. I knock quietly and we enter the room. Atlas is sitting on a chair next to Reef, holding his hand. Reef is still asleep. There's a bandage around his throat and he has some wires and tubes coming out of him. I hear Selenia makes a small noise and I turn to her. She has tears in her eyes and a hand over her mouth.

"Reef." Selenia says quietly. I pull her close to me. Atlas turns to us, looking tired. This has to be taking a toll on him.

"How is he?" I ask.

"Nurses wouldn't tell me a fg thing. Said the doctor will come update me when she can. fg bullshit." Atlas says.

"Want me to go find Suzi? Drag her here to tell us what the hell is going on?" I ask, only half joking. The sides of Atlas's mouth turn up the corners the slightest bit. Just then, the door behind us opens and in walks Dr. Suzi. "Never mind, she found her own way." I say as Atlas stands, still holding onto Reef's hand.

"The surgery went fine. No complications. I'm not familiar with fae, but I believe he will be okay. Mercury has been summoned to come look him over. We also have people checking Silas's cabin every hour to see if he suddenly pops in. He will heal nicely even without them and I'm hopeful he will regain his speech with their magical healing." Dr. Suzi says to us while looking at Atlas. They're fully mated, so Atlas is Reef's next of kin now. Any decisions about Reef's health will have to go through Atlas as long as Reef is still asleep.

"That's great. When will he wake up?" Atlas asks.

"I'm giving him an IV drip with drugs to keep him asleep for now. I want Mercury to look him over and possibly try to heal him while he's unconscious. It will be easier for her. She's on her way now. When she is done, we'll take him off the drugs." Dr. Suzi answers.

"Thank you, doc. I thought I lost him there." Atlas says, sitting back down next to Reef. He looks over at his face and uses his free hand to move a stay hair from his forehead. My heart hurts for him. Atlas is my best friend. He's been through a lot with Rhett and I. He was there when Rhett and I came back from being kidnapped by Jerald and Ivan. He slept on my floor for three months while I had nightmares of Rhett dying in that damp, moldy cell right next to me. I know he didn't actually die, but for awhile, I was terrified I would wake up one day and find out Rhett really did die and I dreamt up Silas to somehow cope with the death of my twin. Atlas never judged me for waking up in a cold sweat, screaming. He held me and reassured me that Rhett and Aubrey were fine and those bastards were dead. I can see he's going through something similar now. His mate almost died on him, right after they met and mated. Atlas is hurting. And I need to help him.

The doctor leaves and I sit Selenia down in the chair at the end of Reef's bed.

"I need to do something for Atlas. Give me a second, okay?" I say to her. She gives me a small smile and nods. I turn back to Atlas. He's staring down at Reef's face. I walk up next to him, placing my hand on his shoulder.

"I just got him and I already almost lost him." Atlas whispers.

"I need you to stand up." I say.

"Why?"

"Just do it."

Atlas sighs and stands up, looking defeated. He faces me, his tired eyes looking right at me. Before he can say anything, I wrap my arms around him, pulling him in for a hug and I recite the exact thing he used to say to me almost every night six years ago.

"He is alive. You are alive. You are home where you are safe. They can't get you anymore. Just relax. I'm here and I won't leave you." I say quietly into his ear. Atlas stiffens at my words before completely relaxing into me. His arms wrap around me. I hear the small sobs coming from him as he lets out all the pent up emotions he's been holding in. We stay like that until Atlas stops crying and stands up straight. He wipes his face and looks at me.

"I can't believe you remembered that." Atlas says to me.

"How could I forget? It got me through the darkest part of my life. When I almost lost the most important person to me at the time. Thought I would return the favour." I say.

"Thank you. I feel a lot better." Atlas says. I nod and turn back to Selenia. She's looking up at me with a soft smile on her face. She probably felt everything Atlas just let go of. She knows he

needed that.

Just then, the door to the room opens. I look up to see my mother walk in, followed by Elliot.

"Mom, dad. Thanks for coming." I say. Atlas bows his head slightly as a sign of respect, being in the presence of the previous Alpha and Luna. He doesn't have to, but he does. He's good like

that.

"I came as soon as I heard. It's just awful what Rhett did. Atlas, I'm so sorry for what my i***t son did. Arthur will be dealing with him." My mom says.

"Wait, where is he now?" I ask.

"Rhett is still passed out. Atlas must have hit him pretty good." My dad says. Atlas furrows his

brows.

"No, not really. I was more focused on making sure Reef didn't hit the ground too hard and the angle was weird. I've hit him harder during training. My punches have never really affected him that much before, but I didn't put that much thought into it at the time because Selenia told me Reef wasn't breathing." Atlas says.

He's right. Being of Alpha and caster blood, Max, Rhett and I are much stronger than normal. Max could probably take on both of our dads and come away with no more than a few bruises.

"That is strange. He's still out cold." My dad says.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but I was telling Blake earlier that Rhett wasn't acting right when he attacked. I don't think Rhett was acting on his own accord. I believe someone was doing this to

him." Selenia says.

"What do you mean by that?" My dad asks.

"Listen, we can talk about this later. Right now, we should help Reef. I think Atlas would appreciate if his mate didn't lose the ability to speak right after they complete the bond." I say

to my parents. My mom nods.

"You're right. I brought Elliot to help. I can pull energy from the mate bond to make myself stronger. Usually works better with both of my mates here, but Arthur insisted on staying by Rhett in case he wakes up." My mom says, moving next to the bed.

"Can you pull from my magic?" Selenia asks suddenly. Everyone looks at her. "I know it's different magic than what you have, but so is the mate bond. You only have that because he's a

wolf. If it's just energy, I'm sure you can pull from mine as well."

"Yes, I believe that's possible." My mom says.

"Healing takes a toll on you. It's not an easy task." I say to Selenia.

"Reef is my best friend. I don't have healing powers, but if I can use my magic to help someone

who does, I'm going to help." Selenia says. I suck in a breath before nodding. She moves next to

my mom and they hold hands. I stand behind Selenia like my dad stands behind my mom. Selenia looks up at me.

"Sometimes my mom passes out. I'm here to catch you if you go down too." I say. Selenia

mouths the word 'oh' and nods her head, turning back to the bed. My mom takes a deep

breath in. She turns to Selenia.

"Are you ready for this? It doesn't feel very good the first time. Or any time, really, but I'm used

to it." My mom says.

"I'm ready." Selenia says. My mom nods and turns back to Reef. She places her hand gently

over his bandages on his throat and closes her eyes.

"Let's begin."
