ALPHA KING JOSH'S POV

"What on earth did you do that for?"

Max barked at me as he watched Rose leave the field through my eyes. Warriors from the first rank helped Nora up and led her to one of the benches even though she kept saying that she was fine and not in pain. Everyone could see she wasn't fine.

Even if she managed to escape physical pain, there was no way she was able to escape the emotional pain that would be caused by humiliation. It was a normal feeling that came with losing one's face or throne. Max barked again, "I asked you why you did that, Josh but all you are thinking about is the blond who had been so disrespectful to the woman you have been holding on to even against her will!" My wolf beast yelled at me.

I yelled right back through the mindlink."What was I supposed to do?"

"You could have watched her flip Nora without interfering and coming up with the stupid time at the last minute. She was this close to teaching Nora a lesson."

Max seethed.

"I would have let her do that but do you know what will happen after she dethrones Nora?" I etched, questioning my wolf beast who had been blinded by rage. Max couldn't understand me at this point but I still tried to explain.

"If Rose had flipped Nora and been acknowledged as the newest strongest warrior, she would have become more than the woman I want to keep safe. She will become a trainer for other warriors. She will have responsibilities that will keep her away from me and she will also have to go to war from time to time." I explained. "What will happen if Killian creates a ruckus and we need to defend the territory?"

"You just did that because you don't believe in her and you aren't ready to see her become more than just Rose."

Max yelled at me and even though he knew that wasn't my intention, he still had a point. Before I could argue, Max cut me off, temporarily severing the mind link between us so I wouldn't be able to communicate with him.

Huh!

I sighed.

From another perspective, I stopped Rose from becoming more than "just Rose" because I was selfish. I didn't want to share her with anyone not even my warriors. I wanted her to be for me and all about me.

I wanted her to be just my Rose.

"My King, you make the right decision." Adam voiced in my mind shocking me.

I shifted my gaze to my Beta who was still standing beside me. Adam nodded, "Rose isn't officially a member of our pack. She is a member of this territory but what will happen if words get out that a female member from Apha Richard's pack defeated the one we have bestowed and recognized as the strongest female warrior and took the shine during combat? A hand-to-hand combat for that matter." That was another perspective...

But I hated this perspective because it made it sound and look like Rose belonged to Alpha Richard- a man I looked forward to killing soon. "Don't say Rose and Alpha Richard in the same sentence, Adam. I won't warn you again."

I seethed.

However, Adam didn't get the hint, "You have to tell me these things, My King. why is she still here? What if she learns our techniques and teaches them in her pack after all she is surprisingly skilled and also the Luna of Silver Moon Pack? Don't forget that the last time you were attacked, I found you on the grounds of that pack. Think about how she could be a disadvantage to the-"

"Do you want me to cut out your tongue?" I snarled, forcing my command and anger on Adam through the link. "That woman doesn't belong to Richard.... She is mine and I will make her my Queen so don't tarnish her like that anymore.... Ever, Adam!" Adam swallowed hard, "Understood, Alpha King Josh."

Although My Beta stuttered those words, I knew he wouldn't give up especially if he sensed that Rose might be a threat to my life. Adam's suspicions had always been right in the past but I was certain he was wrong this time. Rose wouldn't betray me.... Not for Alpha Richard who I would kill soon.

"Gather around, Warriors."

I announced, commanding the attention and obedience of my warriors. They obeyed and I divided them into groups which they would be using to train for the rest of the day. In this group, I demolished the ranks, making sure that a number of warriors of each rank were in every group.

After dividing the group, I connected to Adam's mind and told him, "You will have to manage today's training. I have something to attend to."

Adam gloomily responded, "Alright, My King."

Obviously, My Beta was mad at me but I couldn't apologize to him right now. In fact, I wasn't sorry for defending Rose and laying a claim on her before my Beta. those were my feelings and Adam would have to deal with them sooner.

I started walking away from the training grounds because I could no longer hold myself back. I mean, since Rose walked away from the field, I had wanted to follow after her. I held back because I didn't want to look like a simp before my warriors. "Took you long enough." Max hissed within me as he restored our connection.

I ignored him and walked at a fast pace to catch up with Rose. I realized that she wouldn't be able to know the way back to my home since I had passed the hidden tunnel with her this morning. Heck!

I should have gone after her the moment she left.

What if she had left the pack territory and gone back to Alpha Richard while I nurse my bruised ego?

"Then she is truly an Alpha Blood female who wouldn't take your nonsense." Max etched, making me remember that we perceived Rose's bloodline when she fought Nora with her energy earlier.

I retorted, "That's stupid. I didn't do half of what Alpha Richard has done to her."

Alpha Richard had been using Rose's beauty to gain favors, sign contracts, make alliances, and also treat her badly without feeling or expressing an ounce of compassion toward her.

I am not saying I would do all that to Rose just to prove that I could be that b*stard. I am saying that if she could remain with Alpha Richard despite all these, there must be something between them that I haven't figured out.

Plus why would she leave me just because I stopped her from breaking Nora while she didn't leave Alpha Richard all these years?

What was I missing between those two?

I decided to pass the same route I had led Rose through earlier today just in case she had taken that route back. I passed through the dark tunnel and soon entered my home. I raced to her room to check if she was there but after knocking repeatedly and calling out her name, I pushed the door open and found out that she wasn't in the room.

Max chose that minute to say, "She is not in the house, Josh."

"Why didn't you tell me the moment I entered the damn house, Max. she could be heading back to Silver Moon Pack while I search stupidly and waste time here!"

I barked at my Wolf Beast.

Max snorted, "Did you say a word to me before you made the decision to humiliate her and drive her away? Don't blame me for what you have done."

"I could kill you right now!"

I snarled and dashed out of the house to search for Rose. I searched frantically after I exited my home. I couldn't ask anyone for help because I didn't want to make Rose look like a criminal and neither did I want to call my pack members' attention to her. So I had to search for her all by myself.

But I didn't find her.

Not even when I tried to go in the direction of Silver Moon Pack.

Even if she was heading there, she couldn't have reached or gone past this point. She couldn't have walked so fast and so far.

I searched everywhere I could think of but I didn't find her.

She was gone... My Rose was gone...
