ALPHA KING JOSH'S POV

In my entire life, I had never had to hold my breath in fear. I thought all would go well as long as I held my breath. I wanted to believe that the moment I exhale, all hell would break loose.

"Aren't you exaggerating?" Max voiced through the mind link between us. I would argue with my wolf beast but he added, "Breath for goodness sake! You are officiating me."

"How can I breathe? Nora can easily break her and that would break me. You of all people should know what Rose's well-being means to me."

I responded, breathing by mistake. I hissed and winced when Rose started to move fast toward Nora who had been changing toward her before she moved.

I realized that I had let go of my breath and I cussed at myself as I watched the chaos begin. Rose and Nora slammed into each other but contrary to the belief of everyone on this field, Rose didn't fall and neither was Nora able to knock her off her feet. Instead, Rose successfully landed a hard hit on Nora's upper arm causing the strongest female warrior to stagger.

The warriors around gasped in disbelief.

"You should have been breathing all this while, Josh. Look what happened after you exhaled."

Max chimed happily. He had never been more proud of a person.

Adam was quick to move toward the circle and he announced, "Rose has landed one hit. She has made her way to the potential warriors' rank."

The warriors in the rank began to cheer for Rose after all she was one of them now. They would love to have someone who could make Nora stagger within their group.

Adam asked, "Rose, will you like to drop out of the duel and join the potential rank?"

Again, warriors from that rank cheered, showing that they wanted Rose to join them while she still had her glory. I mean, if Rose should continue now and gotten knocked off her feet one more time by Nora, she won't have this current glory. Rose will simply be a loser with potential.

That will be bad for the image of the potential rank warriors.

"Join us! Join us! Join us!"

The potential warriors roared as they encouraged Rose. It was obvious that they didn't believe in Rose. They believed she got lucky and she wouldn't get the chance again.

And Rose was smart enough to see through the masks on their faces but she was stupid to ignore the warnings from the best warriors. To avoid an incomplete reading experience, visit Job n 'i'b. com. Some of the best warriors snarled, "Drop out now, or I crushed." Some others yelled, "You have to do better to make it here. We don't welcome half-baked warriors."

While the rest of them tried to taunt Rose into continuing the duel so they could humiliate her and watch her walk shamefully to the aspiring warriors.

Adam asked again, "Will you be dropping out of the duel to join the potential rank or will you continue?"

I prayed silently that Rose would drop out not because I didn't believe in her but because I didn't want to see what will happen to her if she wasn't as strong as she was presenting herself at the moment.

Max snorted. "I want her to continue. That way, we will know how strong she is. Weren't you interested in knowing her better?"

"I am Interested in that but Rose has bitten more than she can chew. Nora isn't a baby warrior. She can easily break Rose after toying with her."

I realized but Max told me I was a man who had little faith in the woman he claimed to adore. I was trapped in the middle yet I stood away from the field, resisting the urge to influence Rose's decision.

After keeping mute for some seconds, Rose finally responded, "I won't be dropping out of this duel until I make sure she eats dirt."

Rose's announcement caused the warriors to gasp just like me, they must have believed that Rose was hitting more than she can chew. And they weren't wrong.

Everyone could see that Rose had little to no chance against Nora yet Adam announced, "Let the party continue!"

Without wasting time, Nora dashed to grab Rose but Rose dodged her on time, shocking us with her move.

As I observed Rose's moves, it occurred to me that Rose wasn't new to combat. Although her skills and movement seemed slow and rusty, she still had it in her. She still had the skill buried within which meant she must have trained sometimes in the past. But when and what pack allowed females to train before I allowed women to become warriors?

"That's a point to note for research." Max said to me as he watched Rose through my eyes. My eyes didn't break from her figure.

With each move she made, my eyes followed. Nothing could make me detach my eyes from Rose's body. Nothing at all.

Surprisingly, Rose was able to dodge many of Nora's blows. She got hit a couple of times but she stood her ground against Nora and Nora was nowhere close to knocking her down. It was as if Rose had studied Nora's technique within the past few minutes.... Rose could predict Nora's next move...

Amazing.

"If she is trained well, she will take away Nora'a crown, My King."

Adam sent those words to me through the mind link. Adam added, "Can we keep her here? What will happen to her ties with Alpha Richard and his pack? I thought she was mated to him but I Didn't see any mark on her when I went to check on her this morning." Rather than answer any of Adam's questions, I gritted, "Your voice is too loud in my mind, Adam. I am trying to concentrate here so shut your mouth and desist from mentioning that bastard's name." Adam tried to argue but the sudden eruption from the warriors grabbed his attention... And my attention, of course.

"Holy hell!" Adam cursed. "How will she get out of the choker hold?"

I wish I could answer that question. Of course, Rose was the one being held by Nora. Nora had trapped Rose by using her arm to hold Rose's neck as she pressed Rose's back against her chest.

There were many ways to get out of that position, but I doubted that Rose was skilled enough and Nora didn't look like she would let Rose slip through her tight hold and embarrass herself again. After all, hitting Nora once might be considered luck but twice once a roll would be bad for Nora's reputation.

From where I stood, I heard Nora saying, "You came out of nowhere but had the gut to accept combat with me. Such an id*ot" to Rose while Rose resisted her natural instinct to struggle or fight against Nora's choking hold around her neck.

"That's wise. She understands That she will only wear herself out and hurt herself if she struggles." Max pointed out and I agreed with him but my wolf beast's tone changed as he expressed his anger, "Nora is finally showing her true ugly colors." "Looks like you are the id*ot in your statement..."

Rose let out and began to use her elbows to jab Nora's sides. Nora knew the game. She knew that each hit counted and Rose could win if she didn't make a quick move. So she did.

Lifting Rose's body with zero effort, Nora flipped Rose and for a moment I could have sworn Rose smirked even though she was partially being thrown over Nora's shoulders.

I wondered why Rose would be smirking in the face of disgrace but when she swiftly and skillfully freed herself from Nora's hold midair, I realized that Rose had intentionally provoked Nora to flip her... She calculated this move even before she began to use her elbows to attack Nora.

As soon as she was in control of her body, Rose used one of her legs to kick Nora's head and the other was used to kick Nora in the back, causing her to lose balance as Rose flipped herself in the air and landed on her feet. "How did you do that?"

Nora staggered a few feet away from Rose after she was kicked in the back yet she still asked with disbelief.

Rose retorted, "Speak less and pay more attention to your opponent. My mother used to say that but you wouldn't know that would you, Strongest female warrior?"

Nora growled furiously just as Adam stepped forward to announce that Rose had successfully hit Nora three times while Nora only flipped Rose once but before he could begin the announcement, Rose voiced, "But I like the fact that you can't close your mouth. Makes it easy to feed you dirt like I promised."

Like a brat, Nora exclaimed, "I would like to see you push your luck, Flower."

"This isn't luck. This is fate."

Rose announced with determination plastered all over her face as she marched closer to Nora with one goal in mind... I suppose.
