The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 94
Nelly's eyes were wide open, and tears were streaming down her face. She was suddenly choked up and unable to say a word in response.
Shiomara was right about her family being poor and having low ambitions. They were the ones who took the initiative to fawn over Shiomara's family, so she was certainly right!
She originally had a happy family, but Luther became a drug addict and ruined their bliss. He made her mother live such a miserable life!
Nelly did not feel sorry for herself, but she felt aggrieved for her mother. As an elder, she had to be insulted by her own niece!
Nonetheless, Nelly had no way to refute Shiomara!
There was a Maybach parked next to Nelly. James was sitting in the driver's seat. He watched as the woman on the side of the road cried her eyes out.
He had seen countless women cry before. They were either weeping out loud from being broken up with or pretending to be sobbing aggrievedly. However, he had never seen anyone cry like this. There was zero expression on the woman's face, and only tears were streaming out of her eyes.
She looked so very sad.
There was even a touch of pity in his heart. He wanted to ask her why she was crying so sorrowfully.
Nelly ignored Shiomara, who was still losing her temper on the phone. She hung up the phone and vigorously wiped the tears from her face.
She would definitely work hard so that her mother could raise her head proudly in front of the Smiths!
Just as Nelly was about to leave, a luxury car suddenly stopped in front of her. The window was lowered down, revealing the man's handsome and gentle face. He smiled at her and asked, "Who did you call a scumbag just now?"
Nelly was stunned for a moment as she stared blankly at the man. James raised his head slightly to look at the woman in front of him, only to see that her crying eyes were reddened just like a rabbit's eyes.
The red-eyed rabbit was obviously in a bad mood. Her expression changed from surprise to anger. She looked at him angrily while exclaiming, "I was talking about you!" Nelly knew that she should not be venting out her frustration on others, but it was the guy's own fault for appearing when she was crying over Shiomara's words.
Jame did not seem to be bothered by this. He smiled and said, "How am I a scumbag? It was Shiomara who called and yelled at you. That's why you cried, right? Me breaking up with her is
sort of my way to avenge you as well. Shouldn't you be grateful to me instead?"
Nelly was stunned for a while. She was almost fooled by him and quickly recovered her senses. "She's obviously in a bad mood because you broke up with her. That's why she took it out on
me"
James smiled and said, "Well, the reasoning isn't that important, but the result is! In any case, I taught Shiomara a lesson for you. Don't you think so?" "Oh, please!" Nelly scoffed coldly before turning around and leaving. James chased after her with his car. "Where are you headed, silly girl? I'll give you a ride!"
"No need!" Nelly strode forward without looking back at him.
James was in an unusually good temper today and replied, "No one's going to stop for you once they see your sobbing state. Where are you headed?"
Nelly stopped and looked at James with a frown. "What are you doing? Are you trying to pursue me? I'm telling you, I hate you rambunctious sons of wealthy families the most! Do you think you get to toy with every woman out there in the palms of your hands? You might as well use this trick to coax Shiomara instead!"
James looked at Nelly's defensive and enraged face. He suddenly smiled about three seconds later. He looked so handsome and gentle when he smiled. He asked, "Do you have some sort of misunderstanding toward us rambunctious sons of wealthy families?"
Nelly sneered. "Did I misunderstand you?"
"Of course!" James smiled warmly. "Even if we rambunctious sons of wealthy families were to pursue women, we'd pursue women like Shiomara, who has curves in all the right places. As for someone like you-". He paused, deliberately looking at Nelly's thinner frame in scrutiny before smiling wickedly. He continued, "You're not usually our type!" Nelly seemed to have frozen still.
"You really don't need a ride? Then I'll get going now, bye!" James rolled the window back up, stepped on the accelerator, and sped off.
After a long while, Nelly finally recovered from her daze. There was a flush on her face. She was about to explode with anger!
"Why, that scumbag! Bastard!" Nelly kicked the stone on the ground with force.
James had returned to the company. He quickly received a call from his subordinates, "J, Brooks Cohen was found hiding in the mountains. We've been searching for him for a few days now, and the search was relatively easy. But we were one step behind as someone had caught Cohen before us!"
James narrowed his eyes in surprise. "Do you know who the other party is?"
The voice on the other line of the phone was slightly lowered. "It seems like the Raptors' doing!"
James was startled. "Are you certain?"
"It should be them!"
