The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 226
Nelly sighed and nodded. "Shiomara's were like that!"
Suzy frowned. "So James has those sorts of preferences?" Nelly could not help but laugh. "Perhaps he was a cow who was starved to death in his last life, so he has a soft spot for cows in this life." Some images started popping up in Suzy's mind, and she started laughing out loud. knock, knock!
There were a few knocks on the glass door of the kitchen, and James pushed it open. He smiled sheepishly and said, "What are you two pretty ladies laughing about? There's a poor patient here who's starving and waiting for his meal!" Nelly jolted in shock, thinking that James had heard her teasing him behind his back. She turned her head and looked at Suzy. The two of them remembered the image of a cow in their minds and could not help but laugh out loud again. James was dumbfounded by this. "What'd I say? Was it that funny?"
Nelly stifled back her laughter and took out a box of pine nut cakes for him from the refrigerator. "I just made this in the afternoon. You can eat this first, and the meal will be ready soon!" James frowned at the cake, raised his head, and asked, "Is there any milk?" Nelly was stunned for a moment. She looked at the man and tried her best to stifle her laughter. Ultimately, she was unable to hold back. She squatted down while holding her stomach. Her whole body was quivering from laughter. James was baffled by this, so he asked Suzy, "What's going on with her?" Suzy tried her best to remain calm and said, "She's merely remembering a cow that was starved to death!"
"Hahahaha!" Nelly laughed and sat directly on the floor. James, "..."
An hour later, the food was served. Since Suzy was also there, Nelly had cooked up a total of six dishes, two of which were spicy dishes for Suzy.
James had been eating bland food for two days, so seeing the fish filet with chopped peppers and the diced-up spicy chicken in front of Suzy, he immediately drooled. He could not help but negotiate with Nelly, "Can I just get two bites of those?" Nelly shook her head. "No! You can't take even one bite of them!"
The two had been staying together for a few days, and Nelly had become accustomed to bickering with him. She started to become more comfortable being around him. Ja!lips said in annoyance, "Then aren't you deliberately trying to entice me here?"
!!ly pushed a plate of fried carrots and broccoli in front of him. "This one's yours!"
James had been eating with gusto for the past few days, but the food suddenly felt way too bland today. He asked, "What else is in the kitchen?" Nelly said casually, "A crucian carp soup I stewed for you!"
"Fantastic!" James said with a wry smile. "You're truly sincere in giving me nourishment for my postpartum period. Perhaps you've studied to become a doula before?" Suzy had just eaten a mouthful of chicken when she almost burst into laughter.
Suzy and James had merely met twice before, so they were not considered close. However, after sharing this meal today, Suzy felt admiration for James.
James truly had that sort of charm to him. It was the sort of energy that could bring people closer together in a short time. It made everyone become involuntarily more intimate with him.
After eating and washing the dishes, Suzy was expressing her adoration about this to Nelly when the latter snorted coldly. "This sort of person is a born socializer, or as my mother would call him, he's simply brazen!" Suzy shook her head. "It's quite admirable that someone with his familial background doesn't have that sense of superiority toward others!" She had been around Olive and had seen plenty of sons of nobilities. They would always feel as if they were above others! After tidying up the kitchen, Suzy was about to bid farewell and head upstairs.
Nelly grabbed onto her and said, "It's still early. You'll be all alone anyway if you go upstairs. Just stay back and chat with me." Although she was open-minded about her relationship with James, she was still alone with a man, after all. Thus, it was somewhat awkward to be under the same roof as him. James said with a smile, "I'm heading into the study room to handle some business affairs. You girls go ahead and do as you like!"
He went to the wine cabinet and chose a bottle of champagne for Nelly. "I'm giving this to you. It's suitable for a girl's palate."
Nelly did not accept it. "Is it expensive?"
