When the two returned to the River family's manor, it was nearly dark out. Mr. Welson, who led them around before, was sweeping leaves in the yard with a broom. When he saw the two of them, he showed a kind smile and said, "You're back?" Suzy handed over the pastries they bought on the way back and said warmly, "We came here in a hurry and were il-prepared. Mr. Laine just bought some cakes. Please share them with Grandpa River."

Mr. Welson took it and nodded kindly. "Thank you. You shouldn't have!" Suzy nodded slightly and walked toward the backyard while holding George's hand. Mr. Welson looked at the view of the two's backs and did not shift his gaze until they entered the door. He looked at the pastries in the box, and there were Mr. River's favorite carrot cake and hazelnut cake.

The smile on Mr. Welson's face became more profound. He put the broom down and slowly walked over to Josiah's room with the cakes.

The food in the evening was just as delicious and exquisite. During the meal, Suzy teased, "Are the Rivers giving preferential treatment to their captives?"

George chuckled lightly. "Although Mr. River has an eccentric personality, he still came from an influential family, so it's natural for him to be amiable and magnanimous."

Afterward, he continued to add lightly; "None of the family members of the River family is lacking!"

Suzy raised her eyes, and they were crystal clear. She scooped up her favorite crab dish and gave it to him. "The old man would certainly be laughing in secret if he heard that." George suddenly asked, "Where does your family live?" Suzy was eating crab and had to swallow it before raising her head to reply, "It's not that far from here. Remember the square we cycled through? Just head west and that's my place."

"Why didn't you tell me sooner? We could've gone over to visit," said George.

"I was just giving you an approximate direction. It's still some distance away. Besides, what's the point of visiting if Grandpa isn't there?" Suzy's tone was nonchalant, and she took another asparagus for George. "You can't eat this kind of asparagus out there, so eat up."

After the meal, it was completely dark. Mr. Welson came over to lead them to the garden to see the Epiphyllums.

The Epiphyllums were raised under a wisteria vine, and there were a total of three pots, all of which were pure white.

Under the flower vines, Mr. Welson had thoughtfully asked people to prepare wicker chairs, thin blankets, and hot tea for them in advance. He gave them an earnest piece of advice, "Even

though it's summer, the night wind is very cold here. You two should take good care of yourselves." "Yes. Thank you very much!" George sald warmly. Mr. Welson looked over at Suzy and said, "There'll be about ten flowers blooming in these three pots tonight. I've put all the pollen-collecting things on the table over there, and the place where I sleep is not far from here. You may call for me if you're thirsty or hungry."

Suzy said gratefully, "Thank you, Grandpa Welson. We got it. You may get some sleep." Mr. Welson smiled and nodded, then he walked slowly with his waist hunched over. George looked at the old man's back view and said softly, "The old housekeeper is incredibly kind."

Suzy nodded. "Yeah. You can tell at first glance that he's kind-hearted." The two sat down on the wicker chairs, and the lights in the yard shone on the flower vines. When they looked up, they were like a handful of fireworks that looked dim yet warm. George poured a glass of water for Suzy and said, "Go and get some sleep. I'll look after these pots of flowers."

Suzy shook her head. "I'm not sleepy yet. Let's have a chat." "What do you want to talk about?" The man leaned on the back of the chair with a dignified figure. His off-white sleeves were slightly rolled up, revealing his wrists. The dim light shone on them. His skin looked like it had been pampered and meticulously cared for. Suzy thought about it and asked, "Have you ever thought about getting married?"

George turned to look at her, his eyes were as dark as night. He said, "I was married once before."
