The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 196
George raised his head and looked at her, slightly astonished. "What?" Suzy walked down and said warmly, "They're helping Mrs. Merck look for a bracelet. This bracelet is very important to Mrs. Merck, and if found, with Hilde's trust and
gratitude, it could very likely help Bennett score the collaboration."
From Jessie's words alone, Suzy could feel that her guess was right. Bennett truly wanted to eliminate George and cooperate with Hilde alone. Otherwise, he would not have gone behind George's back and secretly send someone to look for the bracelet. It was a two-person collaboration. If one party got selfish, this cooperation was destined to fall apart!
It was just that he did not know after Winona left yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Merck had also told Suzy about the bracelet. George quickly understood and said slowly with a smile, "So that's how it is." Jessie asked, "You know where's the bracelet they're looking for, Ms. Shirley?" "Yes, I do!" Suzy's eyes were incredibly clear. "Moreover, Mrs. Merck has asked me to help her look for it as well."
The bracelet was at her grandfather's place. When she was brought back to the River household at the age of five, Suzy was somewhat a loner at the time and did not trust everything around her. Every day, she hid in the corner and did not talk to anyone.
Her grandfather and brother tried to make her happy. They allowed people to take out all kinds of things collected in the warehouse as toys for her. Inside a carved mahogany box, she had seen the bracelet that was carved with scriptures and white cranes before. Jessie asked, "Where is it? Why don't we head there now?"
Suzy thought for a while and said, "I can go look for the bracelet, but I have a request." "Hmm?" George raised his head. Suzy said, "I'd like to go by myself. Alone."
George chuckled. "Why?"
Suzy dodged his eyes for a moment and said in a low voice, "No reason."
Of course, it was because she could not let him see her grandfather, let alone let him find out about her relationship with the River family. Suzy was not planning on hiding it from him forever but now was definitely not the best time.
George got up and said in a tone that she could not refuse, "I'm going with you. There's no other option, or no one's going. I simply don't believe that Bennett will get to sign an agreement just from relying on a bracelet."
"I can assure you that there isn't going to be any danger. I can get the bracelet back on my own. Really!" Suzy looked up at the man with a serious expression on her face.
(There's no room for negotiation. It's either we go together or no one is leaving." The man refused to give in at all.
Suzy seemed hesitant and did not say another word.
Jessie suggested. "Where's the bracelet? Why don't I go get it?"
Suzy shook her head. "If you go, he'll definitely not give it to you." Jessie's face seemed stern and carried a hint of surprise. "Where on earth is the bracelet?" Suzy shot a glance at George and said slowly, "It's in the River household. The Cloud City's River family."
Jessie was stunned for a moment. The River family in Cloud City? The most famous family known to almost the entire population in Cantent Nation?
