The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 190
Back at the lawn, after Suzy left, Winona continued to have a light talk with Mrs. Merck Eventually, Mrs. Merck got drunk too. Hilde came over, took Mrs. Merck in his arms, and smiled warmly. "My wife hasn't gotten drunk for a long time. She must be very happy today." Winona had a lot to drink as well, and she was still smiling all sweetly. "Everyone was very happy today."
Hilde nodded apologetically to Bennett. "I'll be sending my wife back to rest now. See you, tomorrow."
Bennett smiled and said, "Mrs. Merck seems to be very drunk I'll ask Winona to send her back with you."
After saying this, he shot a meaningful glance at Winona. Winona's face had turned a little red after drinking, but it slowly turned ashen under the dim light. Perhaps her reaction time had gotten slower due to the effects of alcohol, so she stood still and did not budge an inch. Bennett still had a smile on his lips, but there were no longer any hints of a smile in his eyes. He urged her. "What's the matter? Go now!"
Only then did Winona seem to respond. She responded with a soft hum before going together with Hilde. They proceeded to help Mrs. Merck back to where they stayed.
It was already late at night, and the night breeze was warm, but Winona's hands and feet were cold. When she looked back, she saw that Bennett had already left. The lively and noisy lawn just now was only left with a mess of cups and plates. It was empty and deserted. The ruby on her neck shone out a dazzling light. Bennett had bought this for her today. It turned out that he had already given her early payment for her task tonight. The gem was cold to touch, and the coldness penetrated to the bottom of her heart. Winona smiled all of a sudden and raised her eyebrows at Hilde charmingly. "You're so handsome tonight, Mr. Merck!" Hilde turned his head to look at her. His blue eyes were as deep as the sea, and he smiled lightly. "Why, thank you!"
The two sent Mrs. Merck back to the bedroom. Immediately, a servant came to wait upon them.
Hilde asked the servant to go back. He changed Mrs. Merck's clothes by himself and took her to take a bath.
Winona and the servant had to exit the bedroom first..
Half an hour later, Hilde came out and saw Winona still sitting on the sofa outside. Her charming body was slumped on the backrest, revealing her slender neck and graceful curves. She seemed to be asleep.
"Ms. Moore!" said Hilde.
Winona woke up in a trance and smiled softly at Hilde. "Is Mrs. Merck asleep?"
Hilde stared at her and said, "Yes."
Winona reached out to Hilde with a charming and meaningful expression. "Then, can you take me back, Mr. Merck?"
Hilde did not budge. His deep blue eyes looked at her calmly. "Sorry, I have to take care of my wife. If you need someone, I'll gladly call Mr. Townsend over."
Winona did not seem to understand this Glooney man. She wondered if he was deliberately trying to test her. Hence, she got up and took a step forward, leaned on the tall man's body, and looked up at him while blinking. She said in a drunken coquettish manner, "I've never met a man as well-mannered as you, Mr. Merck. I've always wanted to learn to speak your language. Should we go talk in a more private space?" The man was so proficient in the culture here that there was no way he could not understand her words.
Hilde said in a warm tone, "It's very late now. Won't Mr. Townsend mind?"
Winona curled her lips into a charming smile. "He's probably already asleep."
"But I'll mind." Hilde's face gradually turned gloomy and cold. He seemed to take a step back in disdain and said, "Please do as you wish, Ms. Moore. I'll go and take care of my wife now."
Afterward, he turned and walked toward the bedroom
Winona looked at the man's back view, and her expression returned to normal. She proceeded to raise her eyebrows in surprise. Then, Winona walked downstairs with brisk steps.
