The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 174
Chapter 174
Suzy and Enoah met outside the greenhouse. Enoah ran over with a thin layer of sweat on her forehead. She was panting. "Where have you been? I nearly searched the entire garden."
Suzy casually pointed in another direction. "I saw a field of peonies over there, so I was enjoying the scenery for a while."
"I thought you went to the study, but Uncle George told me you were here." Enoah smiled innocently and cutely
Suzy could not help but feel guilty. "I'm sorry for making you anxious!"
"Not at all. Since we happen to be here, I'll take you to visit my Grandma's greenhouse," said Enoah with a smile. "There are many strange flower seeds that my uncle got from various places. I can guarantee you've never seen them."
"Sure!"
The two entered the greenhouse and strolled inside for a while. Then, the servant came over and told them to go back for lunch.
Back in the villa, the servant was already laying out the food. Juniper came over and greeted Suzy warmly, "I heard Ean mention that you like spicy food, so I got the kitchen to whip up a couple more spicy dishes today. See if they suit your taste?"
Suzy hurriedly said, "There's no need to do that. I'm not a picky eater, so anything's fine."
A few others walked into the dining room. Suzy saw George coming downstairs out of the corners of her eyes. She could not help but turn around to look. Her gaze happened to meet the man's. Her cars quickly turned hot, and she hurriedly looked away.
Gemma asked for Suzy to take a seat, and all of them sat down one at a time. Coincidentally,
Suzy sal opposite George at the table.
Gemma had asked the kitchen to whip up Suzy's favorite tomato soup. She smiled kindly." Don't hold yourself back. Make yourself at home."
Suzy smiled and nodded, "Okay. Thank you!"
Ean said, "It's not her first time, so why would she hold herself back?"
As he was talking, he placed a piece of spicy crab on her plate. "Eat up."
Suzy felt a sense of warmth in her heart. "Mm."
The Laines did not have the sort of arrogant and lofty attitude. Other than Graham's innate cold and solemn temperament, the others were very easy going and polite, They were considerate of Suzy's feelings,
Suzy did not restrain herself either. She made herself comfortable and dined as she usually did at the Laines' place.
Halfway through the meal, Juniper looked up and asked with a smile, "Do you have a boyfriend, Zee?"
Suzy was eating a piece of broccoli, and it almost got stuck in her throat. She hurriedly lowered her head and coughed lightly.
George raised his head to look at her. He calmly put the glass of water in his hand in front of her. The look in his eyes appeared meaningful.
Enoah complained, "Mother, you're a scholar. How could you be gossipy like all those other ordinary madams out there?"
Juniper glared at Enoah angrily. "I was just concerned, that's all. How could you call it being gossipy?"
Enoah snorted. "It's called being a busybody!"
Suzy raised her head, her face as calm as usual. "Thank you for your concern. I don't have a boyfriend."
Gemma chimed in, "Academics before relationship, hmm? That's a good thing."
Suzy could not help but feel guilty again. "Yeah."
After the meal, Suzy bade farewell to the Laines. George came downstairs in his outerwear. "It just so happens that I have something to do back in the office. I'll give you a ride on my way over"
Gregory smiled lightly and said, "Didn't you say that you're headed to Goldenwater Bay in the afternoon? That's not really near River U."
Suzy's heart tightened, and she raised her eyes to look at George.
The man's handsome face remained undisturbed. He said calmly, "I have to go back to the company to get something."
Gemma looked gentle as she smiled and said, "Then you should send Zee while you're heading there Be careful when you're on the road,"
Suzy's eyes paused slightly, but her face was as usual when she said politely, "I'll be troubling you then, Mr. Laine." Gemma exhorted her, saying, "Come and visit wherever you have the time!"
