The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 165
James chuckled and said, "Hearing that tone of yours, it seems like you had a good time last night."
"Shut it!" George laughed as he scolded James before saying, "No one's staying in your unit at Royal Court, right? A friend of mine will be staying there for a while."
James teased, saying, "That friend you're talking about isn't Suzy, right? You stay upstairs, she stays downstairs, and you'd occasionally engage in adulterous affairs. Oh, you young people just know how to play!"
"It's not her!" George was too lazy to chit-chat with James and said, "In any case, I've informed you of the matter. I have a meeting to attend to now, so I'm hanging up!"
After hanging up the phone, George placed his phone down and started looking through the documents on the table.
Outside the president's office, Cora was walking over with a stack of documents. She saw another assistant wandering outside the door with a frown and a troubled look on her face. "Kally?'
Cora greeted her and said, "Are you looking for Mr. Laine? Why aren't you going in?"
Kally turned back and frowned while saying, "It's a document to be signed by the Marriot branch. Last time, Mr. Carver was reprimanded by Mr. Laine because of this, and he handed this errand over to me. I'm afraid that I'll be scolded for going in. As you know, Mr. Laine's been in such a bad mood recently."
Cora smiled gracefully and said, "Just leave it to me. It just so happens that I also have a report that needs Mr. Laine's signature!"
"That'll be great!" Kally happily handed over the document in her hand. "Thank you so much for your hard work!"
Cora smiled lightly and knocked on the door.
Come on in!" A deep voice came from inside. Kally whispered good luck' and slipped away quietly. Cora took a deep breath, smiled, and walked in. "There are several documents here that require your signature, Mr. Laine." George lowered his head and responded mildly, "Bring them over, then."
Cora divided the documents, put them on the huge desk, and explained them separately,
George's handsome face was indifferent as usual. He said in a low voice, "Put them all here. I'll sign them after going through them."
"Sure. Then I'll be heading out now. You can call me if you need anything!" Cora stared at the man's perfect profile, her smile gentle and tranquil. "The morning meeting will take place an hour later, and I've sorted out the materials, I'll bring them over to show you later."
"Okay,” replied George calmly,
Cora walked out of the office unhurriedly in her heels. When the door was closed shut, Kally came over immediately, "How did it go? Did Mr. Laine loses his temper?" "No. Mr. Laine said that he would sign it after reading it. He didn't say anything else!" Kally let out a long sigh and looked at Cora with admiration. "You're so amazing. If I had gone in, he would definitely have reprimanded me." Cora smiled and said, "You're exaggerating. Mr. Laine won't lose his temper for no reason.".
Kally sighed and continued, "Mr. Laine's been too sullen these days. We can't even speak up in front of him. At least Mr. Laine still treats you well!" A casual remark would sound significant to an overthinker. Cora's eyes flashed with a hint of gentleness as she said while smiling, "I'm heading back to work now." "Okay. You go and get busy. I'll treat you to afternoon tea another day!" Kally said as she waved her hand,
Cora smiled and walked back to her desk.
The news that Suzy was protected by George quickly spread throughout the eighth floor. Cassidy was reverent of Suzy, while Luna and Winter simply did not dare to provoke her at all.
Suzy had been designated by Cassidy to be in charge of only one room, which was 8809. If George did not come by, Suzy would not need to do anything at all. She could simply stay in the lounge, sleep, or play games. She could do whatever she wanted to do. After that night, George would come over almost every night. Suzy did not need to keep him company at all times and would occasionally bring drinks over. Plus, the other guests would be incredibly polite toward her.
Suzy suddenly had a lot of free time. It was easier than taking classes before the holiday. In mid-July, Ean finally took his exam. Three days later, Suzy called him and asked him how he did.
Ean said calmly, "Are you not confident in yourself?" Suzy said with a smile, "I'm more worried that you'll play a trick on me on purpose!" Ean let out a contemptuous laugh and said casually, "I did alright. I got maybe more than ten points than the student ranked second place." Suzy did the math and burst out laughing.
