The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn -
Chapter 160
James said to the person next to him, "Call Calvin Leander over and tell him that George Laine has something to say to him!"
The man immediately agreed and quickly got up.
Very soon, Calvin opened the door and came in with a smile on his face. He called out respectfully, "Are you looking for me, G?"
George responded with a light hum before saying in an indifferent voice, "Come here!" "Sure!" Calvin approached him and smiled. "I haven't seen you for a few days now, G. My dad's been wanting to thank you for your help last time. I'd like to invite you out to a meal together when you have time." George's face appeared calm as always. He asked, "Do you have a cigarette?" Calvin immediately took out the cigarette from his shirt and handed one to George. Then, he picked up the lighter on the coffee table and leaned over to light it up for him. "Is this how you light up a cigarette?" George suddenly spoke coldly. He abruptly raised his leg and kicked Calvin in the chest. Calvin was thrown a few steps back, and the back of his body hit the wall. He let out a groan as he clutched his chest and fell onto the carpet.
Everyone inside the private room was stunned by this. They did not know how Calvin had provoked George into making him lose his temper like this. Only James sat steadily on the sofa, smiling at everyone. "No need to sweat it. Just continue on with whatever you're doing!" No one dared to do anything to help Calvin. After all, who would dare to provoke George Laine? Calvin had to recover for a while before he could crawl and kneel on one knee. "I know that I was wrong, G! I won't ever touch that lady in the future!"
He might be full of lust, but he was by no means an idiot. James was here, and considering the things that George said earlier, how could he still not understand?
George was condescending as he looked at Calvin coldly. His thin lips parted slightly as he said, "Scarm. Don't ever let me see you here in the future!" "I'm leaving. I'll leave right away!" Calvin got up immediately, took a few steps back, turned, and ran out in a hurry.
"Are you punishing an individual as an example to the others here?" James reached out and poured him a glass of alcohol. Then, he said softly, "You're clearly angry, but why are you helping her blaze a new trail here? What kind of bullsh*t are you up to? This is not the way for you to get the girl! George's face was clearly unhappy. It seemed that he had the words 'don't mess with me' written all over his face. He lit a cigarette and said, "What makes you think that I'm trying to pursue her?
"Fine. Don't admit it!" James glanced back at him. "Continue to hold yourself back!" George inadvertently swept his gaze toward the door, seemingly somewhat absent-minded." Venus Communication has been dipping again recently. Most of the funding has been flowing out. I'm afraid that they're about to run. What do you think?" James sneered. "His ex-employer is keeping an eye on him, so he can't run away!" The two talked for a while. Just then, someone knocked on the door. Upon coming in, the server asked a few people who were playing poker in front of her, "Would you like to open the bottle of alcohol that you ordered now?" George turned his head to look, and his gaze swept across the girl's face under the dark light. He quickly lowered his eyes and started to smoke casually. James said with a smile, "Suzy, that's the drink I ordered!" Suzy walked over with the beverages. Since the private room was rather dark and there were three or four people on the sofa, she only recognized James at first. She smiled at him warmly and asked, "Would you like to open the bottle, Mr. Collins?" James said with a smile, "Open it up and pour Mr. Laine here a glass first!" Suzy was immediately taken aback as she looked at the side. That was when she noticed George, and her eyes froze. George was looking at his phone and did not look up. He merely said lightly, "Pour it, then," Suzy nodded slightly, opened the bottle, and poured a glass for George. She placed it in front of him.
James turned his head and smiled, "Why do you still have such a long face? Calvin might've messed up lighting the cigarette earlier, but you've already taught him a lesson. Why are you still angry?" Suzy was stunned after hearing the conversation. She raised her head to look at George and wondered if he had just taught Calvin Leander a lesson.
