The Possessive Alpha -
Chapter 74
JONAH POV
The pain starts subtly once again, starting on my wrists before the burning in my chest; it started on the drive back to Diamond claw without Elle. That bastard is having me punished and is using Tiffany to do it. I know what it means; he is allowing his men to put their filthy paws on something that doesn’t belong to me.
“Accchh!” I scream, my claws digging into my chest because tearing out my heart would be better than feeling this every day. Thor is howling in agony, the burn quickly consuming my soul before stopping suddenly, a less-than-subtle reminder of the predicament I find myself in. Why Goddess? What could Tiffany or I have done to deserve this?
‘When we finally get our hands on that f*****g bastard,’ Thor roars in my head, my fist numb while it repeatedly smashes into the wall, not caring about the b***d or broken hand, knowing it’ll be healed by tomorrow.
The hairs on my neck stand on end while two people stand in the doorway, watching silently as I take my anger out on the wall in front of me. They already know trying to stop me is futile; what can they say in this situation? Eli isn’t mated, and Brad sees his mate daily. Neither of them knows the torture of experiencing their mate being sexually assaulted multiple times a day. They couldn’t
fathom living through this type of machiavellian misery.
After a few minutes of me continuing to smash, kick, and slam through the drywall, I hear Eli clear his throat behind me, “Alpha,” his voice remains calm, with a hint of submissiveness laced underneath, “it’s time, we must go.” His words do nothing to temper the raging beast within, turning on him, my eyes wild and feral, Thor mostly in control of my actions.
“Alpha, for our, Luna. Please, we must go,” Eli says, his voice full of sadness. His words are like a bucket of cold water being dumped on me, snapping me back to reality, and Thor receding into the background. Shaking my head to clear the fog, I look around to find my once pristine office destroyed. Everything is broken in pieces, two walls bare of drywall or lighting. It’s only been a few hours, and my office is a shell of its former self. The haze from the rage-induced day finally receding.
What will the rest of the house look like when the ball comes around in a few days? What will I look like? It’s only been a few hours, and I look like a crazy person, and my house is being ripped apart by my bare hands. I try to ask Eli a question, but all that comes out are croaks and squeaks from the constant yelling. As if they were anticipating the problem, Brad throws me a water bottle; taking a large swig, my body rejoices as the cool liquid soothes my sore throat.
“Did you get my mom and sisters out, okay?” I ask, looking between them, deciding that having them out of the house was better than witnessing me in this state. I couldn’t trust myself or Thor not to do something stupid when I am in that unhinged state.
“Yes,” Eli responds, remaining stoic while his eyes scan over my body, gauging my demeanor but saying nothing more.
“I am sure they had loads of questions about what’s going on and why they must leave the house,” I ask dryly, my face emotionless and my eyes dead.
“Loads of them,” Eli confirms, “and they’re worried about you, but I told them not to worry. I would be here to look over you, and so will Brad, But we really must go to the territory line now.” He finishes glancing at the clock to notify me of the time, 11:30 pm. Elle will be shifting here soon, and we have to get to the border; why? No f*****g clue. That dickhead demanded I be there, so I will be in fear of what else he will put Tiffany through if I disobey him once more.
Taking their lead, I follow behind them, shifting into Thor the second we make it out the door. Fifteen minutes later, arriving at the property line and returning to our human forms, we change into the clothes Brad kept in his travel bag he brings on recon missions. Pulling out the burner phone I use, he hands it to me. Dialing the phone number that’s been the bane of my existence for the last few months.
After two rings, a voice that I was not anticipating but hate all the same answers. “Oh, Alpha Jonah,” the Beta heir purrs in victory, “it’s a delight for you to follow through with your responsibilities and give us a call tonight as instructed. Although not as delightful as your sweet little mate. Fiesty little thing that one, with the way she begged for you on and on. Don’t worry; I’ll be sure to bre-“
The desire to reach through the phone and kill this little weasel where he stands for daring to lay his hands on Tiffany. My flesh vibrates so violently that I am on the verge of shifting on the spot.
“Enough! You’ve made your point!” Tiffany’s father, if you could even call him that, says in the background. “You’ve made your point. Now entertain yourself elsewhere. Elsewhere, Tiffany is off limits indefinitely for everyone.” He finishes, and I finally exhale, knowing she is safe. “Unless he f***s up again, there will be no restrictions, and you can pass her around like a joint in a frat house. He got that?” He calls over, still not taking the phone himself.
“Yes,” I spit out through clenched teeth, my jaw practically breaking from the pressure. “Now, what am I looking for?” I ask, not wanting this conversation to drag on longer than necessary.
“You’ll know it when you see it,” the Alpha says, his voice dripping with excitement. Walking along the border between Diamond Claw and New Moon, I notice that the forest is eerily quiet, save for the faint screams in the distance that must mean Elle has started her shift already.
The longer we wait in silence, the more antsy Thor becomes excited as a force carries itself to the territory’s edge, brushing along the border and pulsing like a force field. In the distance, a golden hue can be seen lighting the sky in the distance.
“What the f**k is that?” I ask aloud as I watch the golden hue getting more powerful by the minute, becoming clearer over the distance.
“Good, you’ve seen it,” the man says with accomplishment, knowing another step is completed in his master plan. “Your mate will call you tomorrow. I will talk to you Friday to confirm plans for the ball Saturday. .” Without further explanation, he hung up. In the distance, a howl filled with sorrow echoes through the trees, two others eventually joining in, the glow in the sky gone.

DAMON POV
“You can run, Biscuit,” I yell, wiping Scarlett’s slobber off my face, “but you’ll never be able to hide.” I chuckle. Dying to join in the fun, Slade and I hurry for the trees. Before we can get far, a strong authoritative voice comes from behind, halting me in my tracks.
“Give her a minute,” my father commands, “she needs a moment alone with her new pack members, and we need to reassure ours.” He glances over his shoulder at the confused members asking questions about Elle’s size, why her eyes glow, and if that means they have to start calling her Luna now.
As we walk back to the front of the field, something my father says dawns on me, “she needs a moment alone with her new pack members.” testing his statement, I reach out through the mindlink, searching for Elle’s presence among the members but coming up empty. Now a part of me feels empty too.
We might not use mindlink to talk often, but knowing she was there was comforting. Standing alongside my mother and father, we face the frantic pack members to address their concerns while the Beta and Gamma flank our sides in solidarity.
With a simple raise of his hand, my father can quiet the crowd almost immediately, his voice ringing loudly and clearly with the authority of a seasoned Alpha. His aura, mixed with mine and the other ranked families, helps to calm the more panicked wolves.
“I know you must have a lot of questions concerning Elle Davidson,” my father says, pausing slightly, “while I cannot answer all of them for you right now, I can tell you this. She is here under our protection and has been since stepping foot on the territory. Yes, she is a first-born Alpha female and will be given the proper respect she deserves. However, her status must not be announced to nonpack members, regardless of their past relationship with New Moon. Her safety is our protection, do you all understand?”
The authority my father pushes onto them has everyone bearing their neck in submission, “yeas Alpha” easily heard throughout, as none gave resistance. “Good,” my fathers says smiling, “now please, everyone, enjoy your run under the fool moon, and celebrate the blessing of this night with the Moon Goddess.”
Without waiting to undress or for my father’s permission, I sprinted toward the forest. Shifting into Slade’s powerful brown wolf, our nose pressed to the earth, looking for that sweet cinnamon scent we love, finding it in seconds, letting it lead us to the prize.
The chase is on Biscuit, but I hope you know how to hide.
