The Possessive Alpha -
Chapter 59
DAMON POV
‘Why did you let her ride in the other uber?’ Slade whines like a petulant child. His worry is running rampant through our connection.
‘She wants space right now,’ I snarl, tired of his questioning. ‘That witch said something that rattled her to the bone.’
‘I know,’ Slade argues, ‘that’s why you should have gone with her; she needs us.’
‘She does,’ I agree with him, ‘but we have to let her come to us on her terms. Elle was right. We need to start trusting her to make the best decisions for herself. She will be a Luna one day.’
‘Fine,’ he huffs before pouting in the corner like a child. ‘But I swear to the goddess, if you let her sleep alone tonight, I’ll make your life a living hell.’
‘You’ve been doing that for the last five years,’ I retort, ‘I don’t see how you can make it worse.’
‘Are you willing to risk a night with Elle to find out?’ He asks, a hint of superiority in his snarl, knowing he boxed me in. I am not willing to lose a night without Elle, not anymore. Damn, my father’s rules and our future mates, I want that woman more than I want to breathe.
“You ask him,” I hear Theo say to Andrew in a hushed whisper while he shakes his head, distracting me. “You ask him, dude. Taylor asked you anyways, not me.” Andrew replies, trying to be quiet, but the closed space and our wolf hearing make it difficult to ignore.
“Tell who, what?” Matt asks from behind me. After a few seconds of silence, a boom of unhinged laughter erupts in the back of the car, forcing me to turn to find the culprit. Matt’s laughter becomes contagious between Andrew and Theo.
“What the hell is so funny?” I snap, a little annoyed by their antics, my mind too occupied with Elle.
“Taylor has a question she wants to ask you,” Matt says through snickers, always willing to instigate a situation.
“Well, what is it?” I ask, looking at each man; a smile has overcome Matt’s face, but Theo and Andrew refuse to look at me.
“I think Taylor should ask you,” Matt snorts, his excitement almost unbearable.
“Knowing Taylor, it’ll probably piss me off,” I say, my gaze moving between them. “So how about one of you tell me that way I end up killing you instead?”
“s**t, man.” Matt mutters, “no need to get homicidal. Taylor wants to know why you call Elle, Biscuit…” The driver gives me a side-eyed glance when he hears my nickname for her, and the heat rises in my cheeks in embarrassment.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I mumble, facing forward to check on Elle’s car in front of us. Victor, Nick, and Brian are in a car in front of the girl’s.
“Bullshit,” Matt says, always the first to call me on my bullshit, our friendship mirroring our fathers in many ways. “We all heard you call her that at Lady Esmeralda’s.
DAMON POV
‘Why did you let her ride in the other uber?’ Slade whines like a petulant child. His worry is running rampant through our connection.
Twisting around, I match his gaze in a silent challenge, “you tell me about Charity, and I’ll tell you why.” The easy smile slowly turned into a frown as he sat back, less eager to be part of this question.
“Thought so,” looking at Andrew and Theo, “Anyone else wants to ask me questions that are none of their business?”
“No, sir,” Andrew and Theo respond in unison.
“Good,” I nod, satisfied with their answer, “make sure Taylor knows not to ask.”
“Already done,” Andrew says, making me grateful I have such a diligent beta to help me lead our pack.
‘I still say we get rid of the Gamma; the guy is an i***t,’ Slade grumbles, still resentful for the time he walked in the room, interrupting Elle and me.
‘Trust me,’ I say, ‘I haven’t ruled it out.’ Slades’ gruff chortle radiates within as my focus returns to the car ahead of us.

ELLE POV
The tension filling this elevator is so thick you can cut it with a knife; Matt keeps throwing looks Charity’s way when he thinks no one is looking. Silence engulfs the small space as we slowly rise, listening for the ping of the next drop-off.
The heat from Damon’s gaze hasn’t left me, and I know he wants me to return his look, but the stubbornness holds me steady.
‘Stay with me,’ Damon’s smooth voice echoes throughout my mind, leaving my resolve in a puddle on the floor. ‘Please, biscuit, I need you.’ That’s all it took for me to break. I lift my gaze to meet his, the world falling away when our eyes connect.
Before I can say a word, the ding rings through the deafening silence in the elevator, meaning we arrived at Theo’s floor.
“I’ll meet you guys in the morning,” Theo says, his eyes flicking to Andrew, a look on his face that I cannot quite comprehend. Thankfully, Matt is too focused on getting Charity’s attention to notice.
“See you tomorrow,” I say, sending him a smile before the door slams close, sending us upward.
“Elle will be staying with me tonight,” Damon informs the group, the addictive sparks radiating throughout my body at the warmth of his hand in mine. ‘I didn’t say yes,’ I remind him through the link, but I don’t drop his hand, taking comfort in him.
‘But you want to, don’t you?’ he asks, the insecurities hidden underneath his words, despite the confidence raining down on me. His blue eyes hold mine captive, desperately searching for answers in the depths of my irises.
‘Yes,’ I breathe; it’s exhausting fighting what we both want, what our bodies want, what seems natural. The beam I receive at my honesty practically knocks me over.
“If you need someone to keep you safe,” Matt says to Charity, who hasn’t given him the attention he wants, “I am more than willing to take on the responsibility.”
Slowly turning around, a rage rolling out of her that I had never seen consumes every free space, reminding us of her Alpha bloodline. In a sickly sweet voice, Charity replies, “I’d rather eat silver bullets laced in wolfsbane.” The door opens to reveal Emma and Taylor waiting for Charity and me. Stepping into the hall. Charity calls, “have fun f*****g yourself tonight, Gamma.” as the doors close us in.
Andrew and Damon can’t help the snickers sneaking past their lips as Matt growls lowly, glaring at the closed door, his anger ripping through the atmosphere around us; I can taste it on my tongue.
As the doors open for the last time on Damon’s floor, Matt wastes no time before stomping down the hallways toward his room. Andrew follows after him in silent contemplation with his hands in his pockets. Without hesitation, Damon drags me forward, leading me to his bedroom, my heart beating harder with each step. I swear it might pop out of my chest.
As if he can sense my nerves, Damon’s thumb strokes the palm he is holding trying to calm the silent storm brewing within. Returning his gesture with a gentle squeeze, the uneasiness starts to settle, returning the confidence I let slip momentarily.
As soon as the door closes, locking us together in the hotel room with a king bed in the center, Damon’s lips are on mine as his tongue dances along my mouth, begging for entrance, leaving me gasping and quivering as tingles travel down my spine.
Without warning, I feel the cold metal against my back as his lips and hands demand more from my body. The sensation of his lips locked on his mind while his hands travel wantonly makes it hard to form a coherent thought. The sound of ripping fabric and my dress falling to the floor makes me m**n as the cool breeze from the room’s AC licks my skin snapping me back to reality and the real reason I agreed to join him tonight.
Putting my palms against his hard, sculpted chest, I give him a small push; without delay, he pulls his face away from mine and asks breathlessly, “Everything okay, Biscuit?” His nose gently stroked against mine while one hand is propped against the door and the other on my waist, making it hard to concentrate.
Pushing him further away so that the fog can clear, I meet his gaze so that he knows I am being serious; gathering the last of my resolve, I let the words tumble out of my mouth, unable to hold them in.
“Damon,” I say, trying to hide my uncertainties under the mask of extreme confidence, I blurt out, “we need to talk.”
