The Possessive Alpha -
Chapter 42
ELLE POV
As soon as the girls cross the threshold, Taylor starts squealing like a wild banshee while jumping around, her excitement radiating to the others. “GIRRRRRRRRRRRL! SPILL!” she gushes, “The room REEKS of him! Did you guys….?” She continues, a suggestive look on her face while she makes obscene gestures causing Emma and Charity to giggle.
“No…” I say, but I can feel the blush taking over my body; they know something happened in this room. Damon’s scent compliments mine and smells like home when mixed. I liked having him here, but if I can’t, I’ll sleep better with his scent on my sheets when I get home.
“But stuff did happen, right?” Taylor asked, a hopeful look on her face while her twin Emma chimed in sarcastically, “because it smells like something happened here.” Which only makes Charity laugh harder. Damn twins and their quick wit.
“Look, what did or didn’t happen in my room is between Damon and me. But if we did anything, it was categorically the best experience of my entire life,” I answer, giving them a sly and mischievous smile eliciting more squeals of happiness from my friends.
“Aren’t you supposed to be rooting for your cousin?” I ask them as they continue celebrating my “situationship” with the Alpha heir. Their cousin is escorting me to New York City in an hour and hours before I gave head to Damon. What the f**k am I doing? Am I w***e? What the hell is wrong with me?
“Truthfully,” Charity says for the first time, going to sit on one of the armchairs in the room, “I don’t think my cousin is as interested as he says.” Her words don’t surprise me; while Jonah has always been friendly, I don’t feel a spark or chemistry in any interaction between us. While I was super flirty during our first meeting, I was drunk, and every meeting since has consisted of me trying to find ways to avoid him.
What’s attractive about that?
“Yeah, because you have two have as much chemistry as a dog and stuffed animal.” Taylor mutters, causing the patented “Taylor!” squeal only one of her relatives could perfect while I chuckle at her.
“What?” she asks, looking between her family members, “you know I am right. She doesn’t have the right personality for Jonah anyways. He needs a damsel in distress, and Elle can take care of herself” she explains, but she doesn’t need to because she is right. Like always. f*****g Taylor.
“Speaking of our cousin,” Emma says, looking at her phone, “he is at the gate to the territory and will be here in fifteen minutes.”
“s**t,” I mutter, “I am not ready.” I start frantically running around, grabbing things and throwing them in the half-packed bag I started last night.
“Woah,” Charity says, grabbing the dirty clothes from my hand and placing them in the laundry basket before pointing me toward the closet and bathroom opposite the room. “Go shower, get dressed, do your makeup, and we will worry about packing your bag,” she says while looking down into my half-packed suitcase.

LUNA OLIVIA POV
Looking at the clock on my wall, I know I better get downstairs to meet Elle before she heads out with her friends for her birthday celebration this weekend. Finishing putting on my jewelry, I slip on my shoes before turning off all the lights and leaving my room.
Absentmindedly walking down the stairs, I am not paying attention to where I am going, instead scrolling through emails on my phone when I collide with a large and dense object. Rubbing my head, I look up to see my mate’s clone looking back at me, and then I finally register why I didn’t recognize his scent at first; it’s mixed with Elle’s.
“Sorry, Mom,” Damon says, a dark expression on his face. His father used to get the same expression when he and I were interrupted- before we were marked. It seems like pushing them away from each other did the trick and kicked their need to be around each other into overdrive. I cannot help the giddy excitement bubbling throughout my body that Cynthia’s plan is starting to come together.
Not wanting to give too much away and ruin the progress made, I fix a stern expression on my face before asking the question I am dying to get an answer to. “Damon, why do you smell like Elle?”
“Oh…Uhm..” He says nervously, scratching the back of his neck as he used to do when he was younger and feeling guilty about something, “Elle needed help moving her bed.” He rushed out quickly, his cheeks flushing from embarrassment.
Seriously? Moving a bed? Does he think I was born yesterday? “And you need your shirt off to move the bed?” I ask skeptically, tapping my foot and crossing my arms, waiting to hear the next brilliant lie that comes out of his mouth.
“What?” He asks, clearly confused at the meaning behind my question until I point at the shirt he has on, which is inside out. I wish I had a camera to capture that “oh s**t” expression my son is wearing. “Oh…I must have put my shirt on wrong this morning…haven’t been sleeping well, I guess,” he shrugs nonchalantly like it’s no big deal.
My son is a perfectionist, and there is no way he’d forget to put his shirt on correctly, even in dead exhaustion. Both of the kids are weirdly anal about their stuff. No, my son would only forget to put something on correctly when he is trying to sneak away in a hurry.
I don’t call him on any of it, instead saying, “Well, let’s pay more attention next time, dear.” I don’t need to say more; my look gives it all away, and I know he gets my meaning quickly. ‘Jonah is at the border,’ Charles’s voice rings out via our bond; even after being mated for 19 years, his voice causes shivers down my spine.
‘On my way, love,’ I respond before looking at Damon to excuse myself. “Jonah is at the border. I have to go,” I say with a soft smile continuing down the stairs, but I don’t miss the possessive growl coming from Damon’s chest. Just like his father, he is the most possessive Alpha. Hopefully, that possessiveness gets him to do what needs doing.

ALPHA JONAH POV
The excitement bubbled throughout my body at what this day meant for Thor and me after so many months of being a pawn to that horrid “Alpha.” Thor is growing impatient in my head, constantly pushing forward to make me get this show on the road much faster.
If it were up to him, I would have been at the New Moons border at 6 am this morning and ready to get on the road. Instead, I made him wait until we agreed to meet today, so I do not draw suspicion. I can already tell my cousins don’t believe my interest in Elle is sincere. If I appear too eager, they’ll see right through it. It’s like we have a witch somewhere in a past life with their freaky sixth sense.
A slight tap on my door distracts me from packing the last of my clothes for my weekend away in the city, “Come in!” I call as Eli enters the room, an easy expression on his face. I know he can feel my excitement. It’s rolling off me in waves.
“Aren’t we in a good mood?” he teases, eyeing me with that cocky grin. If I didn’t know Eli was a Beta, I’d swear he was an Alpha with the amount of arrogance the man has.
“Yes, now what do you need, Beta?” I ask him, flashing my black eyes at him to show that I am not ready to deal with any antics. No, today is too important.
“Those tickets you asked me to acquire and send to a certain Alpha has been done, along with the dress you asked to be included. They should be arriving at his pack any minute,” he says, looking around and watching as I continue packing. I can tell he wants to say more but isn’t sure how to broach the subject.
“Good,” I say, Thor, purring in happiness that our Beta could accomplish the task. “Is there anything else you need to tell me?” I question as I shove my toiletries and shoes into my suitcase before zipping it closed.
“Just that the jeep is packed, fueled, and ready to go whenever you are Alpha,” Eli says before leaving the room again to call the one person I hate most in the world, but I have to do what is necessary to get what is mine. Pulling out my phone, I dial the number I have not saved.
After two rings, a deep and gruff voice answers, “What?” he snaps at me, which makes Thor bristle at the disrespect. This man shouldn’t even be an Alpha, and we wouldn’t even interact with him if he didn’t have my most prized possession at his mercy.
“Two tickets and a dress should be arriving at your borders any minute,” I tell him, pouring all my Alpha energy into the phone. “Use them, and you get to see your precious girl a night earlier than planned.” he may be an Alpha technically, but he never deserved it, I know, and he knows it too.
I can hear his dark and sadistic chuckle coming over the line, “And I suppose you get to see yours a night earlier, too?” he asks but doesn’t wait for a response before adding, “very well, we will see you tonight,” before ending the call and the line going dead.
Gathering the bags I have packed for the weekend, I make my way out into the hallway, already listening to Maddie and Eli bickering down in the living room. I ignore what they’re saying, though, as my mind is too distracted by thoughts of this weekend.
“Eli, let’s go!” I hear Eli shuffling out the door, mumbling about Maddie, but I pay him no mind. I call from the house’s foyer, wasting no time getting out to the jeep where Brad and our lead warrior, Robert, are leaning against the Jeep, patiently waiting as they both scroll through their phones absentmindedly.
“Alright, fellas, let’s get this show on the road!” I yell, my enthusiasm becoming too much to contain as I throw my bags into the trunk while the other men scramble into their seats. I don’t even wait for them to get their seatbelts on before I get the car in gear and on the road toward New Moon.
