The Possessive Alpha -
Chapter 11
Damon POV
After dropping that little bomb, Andrew didn’t say another word, just walking into the forest and heading toward the training grounds, leaving me no choice but to follow behind him, thinking about what he said. Does Demitri truly call Elle the Luna? How could he know that? The longer I walk along the path back to the grounds. I cannot help but notice Slade has been unusually silent as I contemplate Andrew’s and Matt’s words. I am not hiding my feelings for Elle very well, as the whole damn pack sees what’s happening except for her.
After fifteen more minutes of mindless wandering through the trees, I finally reach the training grounds, and that’s when I smell the cinnamon scent I have come to crave. Why was Elle here? She wasn’t allowed to train with the pack. Not paying attention to anything else, my eyes find her instantly. I will always be able to spot her like a moth can find a turned-on light. She is standing at the top of the training grounds in a training bra, leggings, and her hair pulled into a high ponytail. I cannot tear my eyes away from how her yoga pants hug her every curve. A genuine smile breaks her face, and the most heartwarming laugh escapes her throat.
Hearing it makes every part of me crave her in every way possible. I am so enamored with her that I did not notice that stupid mutt, Theo, standing next to her until Slade pointed it out.
Noticing him standing so close to her, seeing the other males’ looks made my b***d run cold, snapping me out of the trance I momentarily found myself in looking at her. What the f**k was she doing here anyway? Was she just here to flirt and distract Theo? Without thinking further or caring who in the pack saw, I made a beeline for her, determined to drag her back to the house if I had to. Elle’s back is facing me, but Theo doesn’t even notice me coming at them like a freight train; he is so engrossed in whatever Elle is saying to him, an easy smile on his face. Jealousy over their closeness prickles my skin like little needles. Whenever he is around, it’s like I don’t exist, and I’m not too fond of the feeling of not being an essential part of her life.
Coming up behind Elle without being noticed, I bend down and whisper close to Elle’s ear, not being subtle about inhaling her intoxicating scent. “You’re not supposed to be here and must go home. Now, Elle,” I say, startling her and causing her to turn around to look at me with that defiant look she usually fixes me with. She was standing so close to me that I could feel the warmth of her breath on my face; it wouldn’t take much to k**s her until she is delirious and flushed from my lips. I can hear Slade encouraging me to take her lips in mine from the back of my mind, but I ignore him stepping back from her, not wanting to test my composure. I will k**s her, but the first time will not be this way- stolen against her will in front of the whole pack.
“I am not going home, Damon,” Elle says, crossing her arms over her chest while her eyes shoot daggers at me, fierce and unrelenting. I love how her mouth pouts when angry at me, and her eyes get slightly darker when she is annoyed by my actions.
“Well,” I say slowly, ignoring that Theo came up to stand beside her in a protective manner causing Slade to bristle at his audacity.
“You shouldn’t be here to watch your boyfriend train,” I say, glowering at Theo, standing there with a smug smirk. ‘Just kill him,’ I hear Slade muttering from the corners of my mind, ‘it’ll solve both our problems,’ he continues, but I choose to ignore him.
“The Alpha requested her to start training sessions,” Theo says, interjecting himself once more in Elle and I’s private conversations. It’s starting to annoy me that he thinks he must protect her. That’s my job, always has been, and I am getting tired of him trying to usurp me from it.
“I never told Elle she could attend training, did I, Elle?” I ask her, never taking my eyes from hers that are smoking with pure hatred, but I don’t mind as long as she is looking at me and not that mutt. I can feel the eyes of the interested and nosy pack members, curious about what is being said between us. I was so distracted looking at Elle and breathing in her scent that I didn’t notice the large figure standing behind me.
“Did you become Alpha of this pack while I was sleeping and didn’t know it?” said a deep baritone voice I would recognize anywhere. s**t. First, Elle is here, and now, father? What the f**k is going on? He never comes to the training grounds now that Andrew, Matt, and I have taken over the responsibilities.
I don’t miss the smug look that crosses both Theo and Elle’s faces at witnessing my father scolding me. Turning to look at my father’s stern expression, I answer in a rueful “No.” More than slightly embarrassed to be called out in front of the entire pack. “But father, it’s not safe for Elle to be here, and she needs to return home.” I quickly follow up by trying to justify my actions to him. Hoping that he sees the reason behind my thinking, does the reasonable thing, and sends Elle home where she belongs.
“That may be true, son, but Elle has been shielded for too long and needs to start training with the rest of the pack. She might surprise everyone and pick up the skills quickly.” the Alpha, my father, says to me while sending an encouraging smile to Elle, standing just behind me.
“Father-“I try again to make him see reason, but I am interrupted by a low growl coming from his chest, warning me that his patience for being disobeyed is wearing thin.
“ENOUGH!” my father bellows, causing every head in the training field to turn towards us to see what has got the Alpha so riled up. Our energy is hard to ignore. That’s the one downfall of being in the Alpha family people pay attention to us when we are pissed; they can’t help it.
“Damon, Elle WILL be training today and every other day from now on. Nothing you say can change what has already been decided, so I suggest you get on board with the plan.” My father crosses his arms over his chest, showing he means business and will no longer entertain this conversation further. Through gritted teeth, I mumble, “yes, father,” but my eyes never leave Elle as she throws herself into Theo’s arms.
Finally looking away, I follow my father as he moves toward Andrew and Matt, standing next to their fathers with grim expressions plastered on their faces. This isn’t good; what are they even doing here? They stopped coming to training months ago, relinquishing the duties to the three of us in preparation for us taking over.
‘What’s going on?’ I asked Andrew and Matt through the mindlink, resulting in puzzled looks, and shrugged shoulders from them.
‘Have no clue. We thought you knew,’ Andrew said, ‘But based on your confusion, you don’t know what’s going on either.’
‘I don’t’ is all I say in response before closing the link and putting my full attention on my father as we reach our friends. No one says anything for a few moments, my father and his men watching as my classmates murmur on the other side of the field. Without even trying, my eyes find Elle among the crowd; she is still talking to Theo. What else could they possibly have to talk about?
I watch as Elle touches Theo’s arm while laughing at something he says, causing my b***d to boil. I don’t notice my father calling for my attention until he jostles me and turns to find what I am looking at. Once he sees what, or rather who, I was looking at, I swear he smirks a little before turning me towards Andrew, Matt, Beta Jake, and Gamma Toby. The Beta and Gamma have their massive arms crossed over their chests and knowing smirks on their faces as they glance between Elle and me. Bloody hell, did everyone in this cursed pack suspect something about Elle and me?
“Alright, then boys, today the Beta, Gamma, and I have come to do our assessments of the pack training. Seeing how you each do with your group of individuals in a tournament.” My father says, causing Andrew, Matt, and I to let out the breaths we were holding in. Being here for assessments is better than being here because we failed in our responsibilities.
“You will conduct the warm-ups, and the winner of each division will fight their coach. Each of you will be in charge of a division. The three winners will be individually coached by you three for an entire week.” my dad said, a devilish plastering his face letting me know these old fuckers have something sinister planned. After a nod from my father, Beta Jake starts handing out the clipboards in his hands.
“On these clipboards, you’ll find the names of those participating in your group. Here is how the tournament will work. You will pick a couple to start the match; the winner will stay in the ring until they lose against an opponent. Understood?” Beta Jake says while he looks at us for any questions. Once he knows we don’t, he continues, “Good, look over your lists and decide on workout warm-ups. This will be a long session, so let’s start this party!”
Looking at my list, I realize all of my top warriors and fighters are on this list, which gets me excited for this training day until I get to the bottom. In times new roman, trailing behind all the other names, was her name.
Elle Davidson.
What the f**k is my father thinking?
