The Possessive Alpha
Chapter 113

ELLE POV

I hear the subtle thud of Charity’s paws behind me as our wolves weave in and out of the forest, my lungs burning from exhaustion and my stomach rumbling with hunger, but I don’t care. The only thing driving me is the desperate need to see Damon.

‘Head to the gate,’ Theo says, startling my quiet contemplation, ‘I will have a car waiting for you. I don’t think you want to run the whole way to New Moon.’ His warm chuckle rings through my mind making me eternally grateful to have him as my Beta.

‘Thanks, Theo,’ I huff, feeling breathless as I change direction throwing Charity completely off guard as I head toward the gate, making her stumble and pick up the pace to keep up.

‘Of course, Alpha,’ Theo responds, clearly happy to be home in the pack we grew up in, ‘take care of what you need to and then come back to Silver Run. We will have many things to handle- like rebuilding the packhouse.’ I don’t even want to think about the disaster that is the packhouse and the other damages incurred to take back what is rightfully mine.

After ten minutes of running hard, we reach the gate to find Xander, holding a drawstring bag standing beside while Fletcher rests against the hood of their car. Charity’s displeasure is made known by the low growl reverberating through her chest.

Ignoring Chairty’s reaction he walks forward dropping the bag in front of me, while Fletcher stands with his arms crossed and a smirk of victory smeared across his pompous face. I have a feeling his existence is going to make Matt’s life a living hell, especially with his obvious interest in my Gamma.

Scarlett grabs the bag before trotting behind a tree to change with Charity, making quick work of throwing on the sweatpants and oversized short. Once we are both clothed and out from behind the tree, Charity is already interrogating Xander and Fletcher.

“Why did Theo send you two?” She snaps, crossing her arms over her chest, throwing out her h*p with attitude. “I am sure he could have found other pack members to accompany us.” Taking that as challenge Fletcher stalks towards her a cheeky grin on his face clearly enjoying the bonfire roaring freely in her eyes.

“Well aren’t you a shot of Fireball?” He asks, through a chuckle. Xander says nothing instead turning to get into the drivers seat. “Listen here, Princess, your pack just went through a war, after a traumatic reign with a dickhead Alpha they need time to heal. They shouldn’t be worried about chaffuering your selfish a*s around. Now get in the car.”

With the turn of his heel, he walks around to the passenger side door only to be told to get in the back. Giving Charity a stern expression, I give one warning, ‘Be respectful or I will have Xander leave your a*s on the side of the highway.’

Following behind Fletcher I hear a small huff from the Gamma before she finds her senses and trails behind me knowing she can’t stay here. Climbing into the passenger seat, Xander grabs a cigarette pack from his doorside. I have begun to realize he is a man of few words, as he opens the pack and offers one to me.

With a shake of my head I politely decline, its not common for pack wolves to smoke, or do anything else other than drink alcohol. Throwing the pack back to Fletcher, he takes his own cracking all the windows driving in silence away from the pack.

After a few minutes of uncomfortable silence except for the wind whistling through the open windows, and the slight cackling of their cigarettes as they burn down to the filter. “Sorry,” Xander apologizes as he rolls up the windows, “it was a little tradition we started when we started our “robin hood” careers.”

“Oh,” I respond, not really sure what else to say, “what tradition is that?” I eventually ask, trying to be be polite, and cut through the awkwardness. I can’t explain the trust I have for these men whose lifestyle I have been taught to fear my entire life.

“We always have a cigarette after any battle,” Fletcher explains from the back seat, “helps with the adrenaline rush we still feel and well there is a poetic symmetry to it, don’t ya think?”

Shocking us all, even Xander, who glances in the review mirror to make sure he heard right, Charity comments from the backseat. “Yeah, there is.”

“Well, fireball let me bring you to the darkside,” Fletcher flirts, and I can practically hear the flirting in his voice, as he offers her one.

“Thanks, but I’d rather gouge my eyes out,” she responds without pause, to which Fletcher says, “yep, definitely Fireball.”

Deciding to change the subject, I glance at Xander’s quiet stoicism, as he stares ahead at the road, “thank you for bringing us back…it shouldn’t have fallen to you….so thank you for everything.”

“It’s not a problem,” he says, “plus Theo thought it would be best if we introduced our new partnership with you on the territory.”

“You might have a problem when Damon kills you,” Charity mutters from the back seat, causing me to whip around with a glare while Fletcher laughs hysterically at her being scolded like a child.

“What?” She aks throwing her hands up, “we both know its true. Damon is a typical Alpha, meaning he is possessive as hell.”

“What will Matt say?” I shoot back, pulling out the big guns, as her mouth snaps shut her cheeks and neck turning pink with embarrassment.

“Is that the Gamma?” Fletcher asks, his voice too eager for my liking and Xander seemed to pick up on the same thing as a growl rumbles through his chest and a simple “Fletcher.”

“I am just saying,” he argues. “if you ever need to make him jealous, I am always available. Every princess should walk on the darkside.”

“Again,” Charity remarks, “I would rather gouge out my eyes and then eat them.” Fletcher has no chance to say another word as Xander flicks on the stereo some with Eminem filtering through the speakers. For the next six hours not another word is said, only stopping once for gas and the bathroom.

I haven’t slept, Scarlett and I too alert, so I know the second we turn onto the excluded drive leading to the pack gate hidden deep within the Adirondacks. My entire body buzzes with excitement as Scarlett itches to get out of the car, clawing to find Slade.

As we approach the gate, something changes as warriors pour out of the woods surrounding the car, their uniforms different from New Moons. “f**k,” Xander says, slowing the car, before placing it in park and leaving it in idle. Keeping his hands on the steering wheel the nerves rolling off of him in spades as he rolls down the window, a warrior walking forward to talk to us.

‘Council warriors,’ Charity says through the link, and now I understand why Xander and Fletcher are suddenly so nervous. If only I could still link Damon, that would really come in handy in moments like this. I know I am strong, but I am smart enough to know if we start with only the four of us the chances of making it out alive are slim.

There is no way I will survive a f*g rebellion just to die minutes before seeing the love of my life. No way in hell is that happening. As a subtle scent rolls through the window, it puts Scarlett even more on edge making my insides scream to let her out.

“Stiles,” the warrior greets Xander his voice ice cold, keeping my eyes ahead I see Beta Jake pushing through the crowd. A moment of relief passing over his face until he realizes the situation I am in panic written all over him. “What are you doing at New Moon? Come to take down another Alpha?” The man snipes and I thank the Goddess he still hasn’t noticed me sitting in the passenger seat.

“Have some business matters to discuss with Alpha Damon,” Xander responds, a darkness swirling around him that I hadn’t seen before from the quiet man. “I didn’t realize he lets the trash guard his borders.” His snip at the warrior makes me realize they know each other personally. The man so distracted by his fued with the rogue he hasn’t paid attention to anything else in the vehicle.

“I am sure he won’t mind when he finds out its you,” the man snaps, the two of the quarreling like teenage mean girls. I can practically feel Charity rolling her eyes in the backseat as she watches the exchange. My hopes that I will be able to remain unsee by the man remains short lived when he finally looks past Xander.

“Luna,” he breathes, relief clouding his words and demeanor, “are you safe? I apologize, but I need you all to exit the car.” He commands, waving a few warriors over to open mine and Charity’s door setting my teeth on edge for an ambush.

Stepping outside the static in air is calling to Scarlett as she whines her patience growing thin at being kept from investigating it. Stepping out of the car, in baggy sweats while covered in b***d, sweat, and dirt has me looking like a real treat, as the hum of quiet whispers break out amongst the warriors.

One phrase sticks out the most as, the warriors stare with shock, “her eyes,” is sprinkled through the different conversations happening among them. Some looked at me with trepidation but most of the males looks at me like some trophy to win. Their lustful gaze making my skin itch, and my stomach feel unsettled. Something isn’t right about this situation and Charity feels the same way, the men blocked from exiting the car.

Am I about to be abducted for real this time? What the f**k is happening? “I need you to come with me, Luna,” the warrior escorting me says as he grips my arm, his palms like lava on my skin. “But I need to ask you some questions for the council” He tries leading me away from the gates, but I plant my feet refusing to step any further as I tug my arm from his hold.

“I believe I have answered all the Council’s questions in the file I sent to the earlier today,” I say firmly throwing my Alpha energy behind my words. “Now, I really must attend to the business I have with Alpha Damon.”

I try stepping away only to be grabbed forcefully and yanked against the warrior, as bends closer his over cologned odor overwhelms my senses, as he growls lowly, “You may be a Luna but as a council warrior I still rank higher than you. I suggest you listen.”

A roar I would recognize anywhere breaks through the forest, shaking the world around me and making me pool into a puddle of desire. Suddenly, the wind shifts my nostrils filling with the most delectable scent, that I have craved for days. Scarlett feral as she thrashes around internally nearly impossible to control.

Turning in the warriors arms, my gaze finds Damon’s face, roving over it to find a shadowed chin, and eyes similar to mine. As they connect the rest of the world falls away the only person who exists is Damon, as our bond clicks into place, the strings already at work to pull us closer.

“Mate,” we say together, the warrior instantly letting me go as the word falls from my lips. As if my mind as has a mind of it’s own my feet take off carrying me toward him as I launch myself into his arms, tingles erupting more intense than they had ever been before.

My lips crash into his with fervor, as our lips mold together in perfect harmony, not caring that the nearly every warrior in the council is watching us. Staying lost in our world for a few minutes, Damon pulls away with a chuckle his thumb running along my cheek as our foreheads rest against one another.

“I missed you too, Biscuit,” he hums, clearly as happy to have me home. Opening his eyes with the same abnorality as me, makes me curious but I don’t care only thinking about dragging him away to our bedroom so I can finally have is mark on my skin. Officially, and done the right way.

Finally, breaking his attention away from me he stares at the warriors watching our interaction, clearly unsure of what to do. But when they notice our eyes they collectively take a step back. “As my Luna said,” Damon growls pushing me slightly behind him, “she has sent all the information you require to the council already. As you see Elle IS my destinated mate so any quarrel the council had about my birthday is now rendered a moot point and they have no legal claim to continue intervening.”

I notice a few of the warriors looking at Xander and Fletcher with interest, and Damon does too, the bond between us growing stronger by the minute even though we haven’t completed the process. “As per the council’s code any road leading up to a pack is considered part of their territory. Alpha Xander and his Beta are welcome, and do not fall under your jurisdiction. Now, you have an hour to get the f**k away from my territory unless you want a war.”

Not waiting for their responses Damon turns looking at me with a mischievous little grin before picking up and place me over his shoulder despite my squeals of laughter. Without another look at the warriors he carries me toward the gate, calling over his shoulder to Andrew and Matt.

“Show our guests around, and make sure the warriors our gone within the hour,” he instructs, as we cross over the threshold into his territory before placing me down gently in front of him.

Meeting his eyes, I can’t help the grin that spreads over my face as I take in his beauty while Scarletts purrs practically vibrates my whole body. “What do you want to do to do Alpha?” I ask with a scandalous glint in my eye.

“I can think think of a million things I want to do first,” he replies, his voice getting husky, his eyes filling to the brim with l**t. A rumble from my stomach, reminds me of the gnawing hunger sitting in my stomach as an unintentional yawn leaves my lips. “But what’s most important is getting you showered, fed, and a good nights sleep.” His voice stern, yet soft and gentle as he takes in my appearance.

Expecting to see disgust at my unkempt appearance but all I find is love and adoration. Pulling me into his arms, carrying me bridal style all the way up the drive as my head rests against his chest relaxing for the first time in days.
