The Possessive Alpha -
Chapter 111
ELLE POV
As my mother’s body falls to the ground in a helpless thud, the door crashes open as I pull my blade from her open gut, my eyes snapping to the intruders barging into the room. Charity going on the defensive until we see who it is and visibly relax. Theo’s chest heaving up and down, my aura making the air in the room dense and nearly unmanageable the others in the room.
My gaze meets Theo, Emma, and Taylor as they enter the room, looking nervously at the dead woman laying in a pool of dark red b***d in the middle of the room. But the real shock happens when they finally meet my gaze, “holy s**t, Alpha. Your eyes!” Taylor exclaims coming towards me calmly before spinning me to face Charity whose only response is for her mouth to hang open.
Behind her a large mirror sits on the wall, but I don’t pay attention to the scratches, b***d, or bruises on my skin. No, the only thing grabbing my attention is my one bright green eye that practically glows like a neon sign. However its sibling remains the the color of coal, void of any light, the power rolling around me leaving an iridescent glow around my body.
‘Uhhhh Scarlett?’ I ask, my voice nervous, as I stare at myself, my dagger in my hand as my mothers b***d drops onto onto the carpet. *Splat* *Splat* *Splat*
‘We don’t have time to talk about it right now,’ She replies quickly, reminding me that we are in the middle of a war and now isn’t the time to focus on superficial bullshit. With a shake of a head I turn to face the other’s who stare silently their mouths still hanging open they practically touch the ground.
“Enough staring,” I snap, walking towards the curtains using the cotton material as a way to wipe my mother’s b***d from the blade before returning it to it’s sheath. “Is the rest of the house empty?” I ask Theo, as I walk out of my room, leaving my Cynthia’s lifeless body in the middle of the room.
“Yes, Alpha,” Theo replies, “And we got everything placed where it should be, so we have,” he pauses to look at the watch on Emma’s wrist, “five minutes till detonation.”
“Alright,” I say, with a nod, “lets get a move on. We don’t want any unwelcome guests keeping us in this house longer than necessary.” Using my long legs I get across the room within seconds, Theo leading the way down the other end of the hallway toward the front of the house. The house so quiet a church mouse could be heard, eerily quiet causing a shiver of warning to snake its way down my spine.
As if he can sense the danger himself, Theo picks up the speed, practically flying down the stairs, into the foyer, as a blast in the back of the house shakes the foundation underneath us. Based on the growl from Theo’s lips, and the f**k that escapes his lips, that wasn’t one of our bombs that just detonated. Meaning Tiberius, the bastard put in fail safes against an enemy attack on the packhouse. No wonder the house was void of a single living soul.
As we pour out of the house like sardines in an overfilled can, another bomb detonates having a domino effect, as our group pushes ourselves further away from the house I once called home. Pushing ourselves harder, we get far enough away that flying debris cannot hit us. As we run further into town we hear the the thunder of growls, and the screams of injured warriors as they fight against eachother.
“Taylor and Emma,” I growl out, pushing my Alpha energy onto the field, letting it run rampant without remorse, stalling Tiberius men as they try to push through the thickness of the air. “Go join your mates, they need you!” I call out to them watching as both Victor and Brad take on two warriors themselves.
The twins hesitate watching as warriors block the paths to their mates, “GO! We will cover you!” I scream over the noise as I remove my dagger, twisting it easily in my hands. Leading the attack, the others fall behind me in a triangle formation. A rogue sees me as being an easy target, running at me from the side but still in my peripheral vision so I am able to spin to the side barely missing him as he tumbles to the ground.
The off putting scent of his rogue rank hits my nose, choking my senses, as he turns his attention back to me, his hackles raised as he prowls towards me with a low growl. I can hear the growls and clashing of teeth behind me as my friends join the fight. “If you stand down now, you can make it out alive.” I call out to the dirty brown wolf baring his fangs at me, not backing down in his approach.
“Fine,” I sigh, lowering my center into a fighting stances, while I hold the dagger in one hand, beckoning the rogue to come for me, “it’s your funeral.” Not liking being taunted, the wolf runs at me. I wait patiently until the wolf is upon me before spinning to the outside, using the wolfs momentary pause to hop on the back its back.
Grabbing the fur between his shoulder with my free hand I hold on tightly reaching around to front letting my dagger slice through his neck, his warm b***d spraying out before his body slumps to the ground in a lifeless heap.
Looking at the others in my group I see Charity, Emma, and Taylor easily handling their opponents. When my eyes find Theo in the chaos, as he fights off three rogue warriors at once. Seeing that he is the one in the most trouble I climb off the dead wolf, before running through the different fights until I reach Theo’s side.
The grey and white wolf closest to me doesn’t even register my presence, her attention too focused on Theo until my blade is shoved into her side and dragged along her body. The male standing next to her dropping to the ground as the life leaves her eyes, a ragged howl escaping his lips as he cries at the loss of his mate. Seeing the opening Theo plunges his claws into the wolf’s chest ripping his heart from his chest.
The howl dying on the lips of the wolf who the heart belonged to as they slump to the ground next to his mate. Throwing the heart on top of his victim, without remorse we turn our attention to the last wolf standing. He tries remaining brave as he lowers he head, tucking the tail between his legs, his eyes flickering between us when something behind us catches his attention and he lifts he head with renewed vigor.
His reaction had me spinning on my heel to see a large white wolf coming for me, unlike the others we have been fighting this isn’t a rogue but Beta Sr based on his scent. His teeth bared, as his jaw snaps barely catching my shoulder as I duck away pulling him away from Theo. As I suspected he would he follows me with hopes of taking me out. Remaining in my human form the Beta advances as I keep my movements fluid in my slashes, a yelp escaping his voice as the tip of my blade catches the end of his snout.
Shaking his head he tries to get the tears out of his eyes, a growl leaving his lips, his anger fueling his movements. His moves becoming more erratic with each passing second making his movements harder to judge. Having stayed in a linear back and forth, knowing I am not going to accomplish anything unless I move outside our current situation.
Ducking to the side, I keep my movement of the blade fluid slicing the wolf’s chest before giving a a quick jab before spinning away facing him once again. The unexpected jab distracts him enough for me to piercing through his fur with ease I drag the blade through his side so quickly he barely has time for a howl to leave his mouth before slumping to his side.
Pulling the blade from the dead unknown wolf, I look through the smoke as another bomb goes off in the distance. Charity is standing over a dead wolf, Theo using his elongated claws to slice open a rogues neck. The twins have made it to their mates, protecting one another while they fight off their attackers. Eli in the far corner easily handling his two wolves.
Another wolf is about to make a move toward me when a howl escapes from the forest line, two men running at full speed in our direction. Xander’s rogues following behind as they fan out slowly surrounding us and the two men running toward the center.
Using the distraction Xander created I call out to wolves still standing willing to risk their lives to fight alongside the fraud Tiberius, “THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO WALK AWAY WITH YOUR LIVES OR DIE WITH TIBERIUS!”
My voice and Alpha energy bleeds into the crowd of wolves watching as Xander’s men start have them trapped with no conceivable way to break through their line of defense. His pack of men and women being bigger than I thought possible. Tiberius is reaching the center, Zachary standing slightly behind him watching as his allies falter in their decision. Real fear starting to settle on their faces, and escaping through their scent tickling my tongue like a delicious desert.
Grasping for straws, seeing the hesitation on his men, Tiberius calls out with a shaky breath, “Don’t listen to the little b***h, she and her friends are not to be feared! We can still win!” But as he is talking, my movements and the sound of his own voice keep him distracted enough he doesn’t notice Brad sneaking up behind Zachary putting him in a choke hold, dragging him backwards to where Xander stands waiting with silver cuff and a swift blow to the head.
Tiberius keeps talking sweet nothings to his rogue accomplices, while I pay no attention making my timid movements forward, Theo, and Charity match my movements from different tactical positions. Charity is the closest to him, nearly on top of him.
She reaches forward grabbing something in one swift movement before stepping back from him again keeping her arm at her side, the object obscured from my view standing in this position. However, one of the wolves must have seen what she grabbed because with seconds of her doing so, he was laying on the ground whines of submission coming from his lips as he stares at me.
A roar leaves Tiberius lips as more of his comrades begin surrendering, laying down with whimpers of defeat. Xander’s men tighten their circle, with each submission while Tiberius’ hand reaches behind him to grab whatever Charity had taken from him earlier.
As he turns to look, she raises a black Beretta M9, a sneer of victory spreading across her face while her finger rests comfortably on the trigger. “Looking for this?” She asks her words practically bubbling with glee at Tiberius wide eyed stare of astonishment.
Moving his attention to the side he see Zachary sitting next to Fletcher’s wolf, cuffed and gagged, waiting patiently to be handed off to Eli as part of our agreement. I have a feeling I know what he did, and will deserve whatever justice Eli decides to dole out for his old Alpha and Luna. While he may be an Alpha now a large part of him will identify as the Beta he was raised to be.
“What? No more threats?” I ask, trying to taunt him as he turns back around to gawk at me standing before him covered in sweat and the b***d of my enemies. Tiberius nearly fainting when he sees my bi-colored eyes, his adams apple bobbing with every nervous gulp. His eyes flash with recognition as he sees the dagger hanging loosely the b***d of others already beginning to dry on the silver blade.
“I challenge you, Tiberius,” I call out, my voice loud, and proud tipping my chin upward in satisfaction. Scarlett and I working so insync it’s like we are one being. It’s empowering and raw as it fills the space between us, “for my rightful place as Alpha of Silver Run. I, Elle Davidson, Daughter of Alaric Davidson the sole and rightful Alpha challenge YOU to the death.”
Acting in the fashion a true coward would when cornered, Tiberius raises his hands, backing away from me while looking around nervously. But something about his movements has makes my skin prickle, a nagging instinct he is going to switch course at the last second to go on attack.
Slowing my breath, I notice the second his entire demeanor changes, thinking I would be distracted by his retreat, that I wouldn’t notice the second he attempts to change direction. Using his back foot to give him momentum as he pushes forward, running at me with his first already outstretched making him easy to dodge.
With continuous, fast paced punches being thrown by Tiberius the dagger and I working together in a beautiful dance as we sidestep, constantly stepping outside of the body to block his punches and use his momentum to make him stumble. His inability to land a proper blow begins to frustrate him more, as the others standing around us watch our attacks with rabid interest.
As Tiberius advances with another punch I step into it blocking with my left hand. Taking the calculated risk of a punch from the opposite side just for the chance to slice into Tiberius’ femoral artery. My dangerous decision paying off as a howl his heard from behind me as I turn to the side piercing his abdomen.
Removing my blade, I back away quickly, putting distance between us once more, as he drops to his knees in front of me. Using this moment, I circle behind him, gripping his his sweaty hair in my crimson stained hands yanking hard to better expose his neck.
Pressing the tip of my blade into his throat, a small trickle of red begins to leak, a whimper escaping him, a single tear trickling down his cheek as he realizes he f****d with the wrong one. Leaning down to “shhh” him calmly in his ear, I press the blade into his neck a little harder.
He tries flinching away but I just grip his hair pushing him back against the sharp edge. He tries saying my name but the only thing that comes out is the gurgles from him drowning in his b***d. With a sick smile, and loud enough for only him to hear, I say “I warned you that you’d choke on my name one day. Say hi to my mother in hell.”
With a final shove I plunge the rest of the dagger into his throat before pulling the blade free, pushing his lifeless body to the ground, as golden essence releases itself from his body. The energy hovering in the air above me before setting on me like a crown, making my skin tingle with the power of my pack. Charity, Theo, and I connect with the mindlink easily, enjoying the warm greetings and solicitations.
Now that the battle is complete, the real challenge begins. Returning to New Moon to beg for Damon’s forgiveness and hope that he has the capacity to accept my mistakes.
