The Last Time I Loved Him (Autumn and Ryan) -
Chapter 65
me a slight smile.
Chapter 6 The press conference ended. As expected, Alex was waiting by the backstage door. He'd regained his usual composure, looking entirely different from the man who had caused a scene on stage earlier. Ignoring Winston, who was walking beside me, Alex gave "Vivian, so the famous international designer Vivian is you. I recently bought your Heaven and Hell bracelet. It's beautiful; I really like it." He paused before adding, "Did you change your number? I couldn't reach you no matter what. Let's stop all this nonsense, okay? Come home with me."
Back when I left, I'd blocked all of Alex's contacts. When he tried new numbers, I blocked those, too. Eventually, fed up, I changed my number entirely.
Winston's face turned icy as he spoke, each word punctuated with intensity:
"Do you think I'm invisible? Speaking like that to my girlfriend right in front of me?"
"Whether you're alive or dead is none of my business," Alex retorted, his old arrogance showing, ready to challenge anyone without regard.
He turned back to me, "Vivian, remember that vendor at the end of the school street? You loved their food. They've got some new dishes now. Let me take you there."
I felt three metaphorical black lines appear on my forehead.
Coldly, I replied, "I don't like that food anymore, and I don't like you either. I have a boyfriend now, and it's him, Winston. I don't want to see you again."
Alex stood there, stunned, watching me walk away. The things he once eagerly expected, he couldn't have now. And now that I no longer longed for them, he brought them to me himself. It was almost funny. When I first arrived overseas, a friend from Alex's circle had reached out:
"Vivian, it's my birthday this Friday. Come and join the fun."
"No, but happy birthday in advance."
"Alright, we'll catch up when you're back."
That night perhaps this friend was drunk, as they accidentally called me via voice chat. I answered, hearing someone on the other end urging Alex to call me:
"Mr. Carter, why don't you give Vivian a call? She likes you so much-maybe she's waiting for you to make the first move."
Alex sounded irritated, "Why should I? Didn't I have someone send her a message today? Wasn't that enough of a gesture?"
"If she won't take the hint, I don't care to deal with her."
"But you went too far this time; you really hurt her."
"What, you think I was serious about that girl? Just a way to kill boredom. Did I kiss her or something? Vivian's known me for seven years. Doesn't she know what I'm like by now?"
"Come on, a real man knows when to apologize. There's no shame in admitting a mistake. You can't keep drinking every day like this."
Alex suddenly exploded, "Al of you,
stop bringing her up in front of me! If she's so strong, let her stay out of
my life. Let's see how long she
hold out."

But this time, he bet wrong. I truly disappeared from his life. I never looked back, and I never showed up again.
