Chapter 10 "These scars are from when your little lover pushed me into the rose bushes."

"This one here -I got it while cooking. I was in so much pain, but you just laughed at me, calling me a country bumpkin who couldn't even handle high-end cookware."

"And this one I fell and got it while rushing to bring you some documents."

I looked up at Jacob, holding back the urge to slap him again.

"Do you remember what happened that day?"

Jacob avoided my gaze, but I knew he remembered-he remembered everything.

That day, Jacob had said he'd left an important document at home for a billion-dollar project and insisted I bring it to him within half an hour. It was pouring rain, and traffic was severely backed up. With no other choice, I held the documents close and ran to his office, slipping several times along the way. When I finally arrived, Jasmine blocked me at the door.

"A company like this doesn't just let any beggar in. Stop embarrassing yourself and go home. This isn't a place for someone like you."

Desperate, I called Jacob. When he came down and saw me drenched and disheveled, he said just one thing:

"Ivy, how could you be so useless? You've ruined the documents."

Later, I found out that the "important document" was nothing but a property contract - the very contract for the apartment he bought for Jasmine.

Jacob anxiously interrupted my thoughts.

"Ivy, can't you just let the past go? Why do you have to cling to it?

Haven't you ever made mistakes yourself?"

I had to admit, Jacob was a master at twisting words. No matter what conflict arose between us, he'd always manage to turn it around, making it seem like it was my fault. If I accepted his gifts, I was labeled as materialistic and shallow. If I shared the financial burdens, I was accused of being calculating, setting a long-term trap. With Jasmine, nothing was ever enough for him.

But with me, everything I did was wrong. Even his infidelity was somehow twisted into my "unreasonable behavior."

I looked him straight in the eye and said, "My biggest mistake was falling in love with you and staying with you!"

"Ivy..."

I knew reasoning with Jacob was pointless, so I pulled out my phone to call the police. He panicked, reaching out to grab my phone.

"Wait- don't do that. I have something very important to show you. If you see it, maybe you'll forgive me."
